25.01.2022 So we're within 4 months now, what happens in the next two months is going to give a better indication of how the pandemic plays out. Australia's had success so far, but if the second wave hits like some experts are warning it's likely that the timing will be near enough that swordplay can't happen this year. Stay tuned, hopefully all will be well, but if life isn't back to normal by the end of July expect a cancellation.
25.01.2022 Despite us not running, there's a few people I want to thank for their contributions. Jay Mackley and Nelson McGuigan who were going to be running our workshops for us. Lois Spangler who helped arrange things with Jay and Nelson. James Bennett and Prefrontal Press who made a donation towards the costs of our first aiders. ... Conrad Lauf, who designed our awesome new logo. Chanarra Gettons, who was going to hold down the fort part of the time so i could enter at least one of the weapon events. Shay McAulay for hosting the website. See more
23.01.2022 Swordplay 2020 is cancelled. Sorry guys I thought we were in the clear, but with the news today of two individuals who lied about their location to avoid quarrantine having roamed Brisbane for the last 8 days while corona positive the odds of an outbreak is too great, and the time to wait and see too short considering interstaters and even the north Queenslanders who'd have to book flights. Please share this around your HEMA circles.
22.01.2022 With Qld further lifting restrictions, swordplay is going ahead. It won't have all the features planned, but we'll be running.
19.01.2022 Credits to resident graphic designer and swordsman Conrad Lauf for swordplay 2020's logo! This bad boy will be available on T-Shirts and maybe more! To see his other work and for any graphic designing needs get in touch with Conrad directly.

08.01.2022 Workshops at Swordplay this year will be a little different from previous years! They'll only run on Thursday, but instead of offering brief taster courses, we'll instead offer two full-day intensives, running alongside each other. These two workshops are still being refined, but it's our pleasure to offer you the following:... Nelson McGuigan, teaching messer, and Jay Mackley, teaching smallsword. We'll keep you posted with more details about these workshops and their instructors in the coming weeks.
07.01.2022 I have started sending out patches and t-shirt. I will get more sent out this weekend once I get back from Melbourne.
04.01.2022 Seeking expressions of interest. Looking for 4-6 people for Friday, Saturday and Sunday to referee rapier, longsword and sabre. Do 1 day and get half price entry to the whole event, 2 days and get free entry to the whole event, 3 days and free entry + $100. Addendum - I'll also extend the same offer for 2-3 people per day to be dedicated scorers.
