24.01.2022 Happy Sunday! Many thanks for all the feel-good vibes and positivity flooding in following the screening of The Dreamwalker. Here is a transcript of the final poem from the film, an original piece recited by the wonderful student cast. Enjoy... ... #thedreamwalker #saltwater #saltwatercollege #saltwaterp9college #pointcook #melbourne #west #primary #wisdombeginswithwonder #schoolbox #literacy #ib #performingarts #music #dance #drama #bungaree TRIUMPH Tick tock, time goes past. Watch the second-hand spin fast Until the minutes turn to days And weeks are spent in an untried haze Never beaten. Don’t give up. Try again and find your path. Wave to the melancholy, look it straight in the eye Let it pass and become like drift in the sky Determined, brows a’furrowed, curled. Your chance to redesign this world Pure direction, no distraction Feel the power of dreams in action For your dreams are glimpses of the future Just waiting patiently for you to Embrace them, breathe your life into Them, chase them, make them fill your view. Don’t wander or drag your feet, but wake And lift, vibrate, ascend and shake And fill the void, do your best to create, to craft, to make a masterpiece of your landscape To soak up every moment of camaraderie, of friendship, of kindness, To cure the apathy, the defeat and the blindness To lift our voices, not in anger or hate But in song, in pursuit of the splendid, the great Turning the dear playground of our youth Into the source of our triumph, our talent, our truth For each on our own can achieve some success But when we work together, our endevours are blessed As fortune favours the brave, they say So let Fortuna come my way Success never came to the lucky alone Luck endows the courageous, Life is like a grindstone Whether it weathers you down Or it polishes you up Depends on what makes you. Of Steel or of slough? So let me cool all your anger And you can cool mine And if your heart fills with sorrow I will heal it. And if in time Your path leads in one way And mine in another May our hearts beat forever In time with each other.

22.01.2022 Book Week Next week is book week (October 17-23) and the theme for this year is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’. Unfortunately due to Covid, we have had to adapt what our Book Week will look like this year to accommodate Department guidelines.... As a school, we will be celebrating on Wednesday 21 October by encouraging students to dress up as their favourite book character. Unfortunately, we are unable to have our usual Book Week parade, so we encourage families to take lots of photos in the morning at home to avoid congestion at the school gate. Each class will also be creating a text innovation on a favourite story. A text innovation takes a text and allows the students to change characters, setting, and story elements to make a personalised version of the story. The students then compare and contrast their story to the original. An example of this could be ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears ‘ where it can be rewritten as ‘Mary Mermaid and the Three Sharks’, and the setting can be changed to the sea and the characters changed to creatures found in the sea. The storyline can be exactly like the original story, etc. Thank you, Mrs Gramatiki Alexiou

20.01.2022 Please find below a message from Christine Attwell (School Crossing Field Officer). When determining which crossings are to be covered, we have taken into the crossings that are in direct vicinity of your school, speed limits, number of pedestrians that attended in Terms 2 and 3 and any that are considered high risk. Throughout this year The Wyndham City Council’s School Crossing Program have worked towards expanding on its operations, to accommodate the needs of schools wi...thin our municipality. The School Crossing Program will return to full service once we receive advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, and where staffing levels permit. Below is a list of the crossings that we are able to cover near your school and the times of supervision: Kirra Place- 8:30am-9:30am and 3:00pm-4:00pm While we appreciate that school times may have changed, after consultation with the Department of Education and the Department of Transport we are unfortunately not in a position to provide any staff for school crossings outside of the prescribed times. As you would be aware, the prescribed school zone times, when speed limits must be reduced for the safety of users of a school crossing, are 8.00am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4.00pm. These times are set by the Department of Transport and backed by significant research and studies. Thank you,

And just like the proverbial reeds in the storm, it has been our brilliant students’ ability to remain flexible that has showcased their true strength most of all. No group photos or assembly were allowed on this trip around the sun, but the parade of costumes and characters as students excitedly walked through the gates this morning was as dazzling as the...ir smiles. Thank-you to all the fabulous students and teachers that joined in the fun.
