23.01.2022 Before it becomes Home - Visiting Melbourne Mollyann and Sean found out they had an opportunity not only to move to Melbourne, but his company would send them on a vacation here to make sure they loved it. They quickly said sign me up! I'm so glad we got to meet up for a relaxed morning at their hotel in downtown Melbourne. 21.01.2022 Last night Guy randomly says, "You know when this is all over I have to go somewhere! It doesn't matter if it is a couple days in Sydney or far away, we just need to go somewhere." It was his trial day yesterday. He desired one of our breakaways from regular life exploring our vast world. A bit like this moment of rest as we explored around Savannah Georgia, the opportunity to just be and get some cuddles. 21.01.2022 Love letter to my Maddie girl. What can I say to you that will express how much the feels of love fill my body? Yes, we butt heads, dad says it's because we are so much alike. He's probably right! Some of the amazing things I love about you are the way you speak your mind, your quest to enjoy all things artistic, how you cry with others who are crying, how you get out there loud in social situations, how you fiercely believe in no makeup for me and how you can read 4+ book...s at once while keeping track of everything going on in each. You are a gifted storyteller and my guess is you will be a successful writer when you feel the time is right. I love your sense of caring and how you collect people to hug each and every time you see them. You flock to kids and they flock to you as you give them your full attention, excitement and love. 21.01.2022 Holiday (vacations in US) sessions are where it's at! Check out this chill holiday morning. How fab was their sweet room for the night at Melbourne's fantastic Notel Melbourne? There are six airstream trailers up on the rooftop edges with a great common area in the middle. I had the very best time photographing Mollyann and Sean on their trip to Melbourne last week. So much fun, and now I have new friends too. The best part?!? They are going to be moving here in a few months.

20.01.2022 After five and a half weeks, the kids have gone back to school. I got used to them wearing other clothes, it was a surprise to see them all in their uniforms this morning. lol Funny how fast things change, especially our perceptions of normal. We had a family session just last April just before we left the states, yet it seems like we are all such different people already. I'm so excited we'll be doing a session with my new friend Kelly. Especially at this time, when e...ither one of the twins will start the big change from kid to teen anytime now. Oh yeah, we are also getting our own family film from the session!! Each year of our lives together has had its own unique flavour. Recording these times in images has really helped us all remember. If you haven't scheduled a session in a while, definitely do it. In each of my kids rooms, there are images showing the loving moments in our family. We sometimes get comments from people on how our kids show they care about each other. 10.01.2022 It's here! In less then an hour we leave to go see this kid for 2.5 hours. I can't wait to hear all about his camp experiences so far. Guy asked Landon and Maddie if they would be ok if we didn't go see Blake today. Landon was so sweet as he tried to be ok and then told us what the alternative would be if we didn't go. lol. Though if Guy had been serious instead of teasing, the tears would certainly have come. Hope we have the best time!!... 08.01.2022 What do you do for work? "Oh, I help children and adults milk cows at a nature centre," said no one ever. Um, her joy and cheekiness made this part of the kids and my friend's day extra memorable! The kids were reluctant to do it. My friend, Sam, finally got them to go over after telling us all about how she showed some people how far the milk can go by squirting it sideways... At some folks! lol. ... I plan on sending this image to her at the centre with a thank you for helping to make our visit something to remember. We don't always see the impact we have on others through our work at home or in a job, but I guarantee it is there. Hoping we all make a positive impact today. Shannon

06.01.2022 Ever wonder how you're doing at parenting? I do. We all do. It's a worry for sure. One of the things I love so much about photography, is the ability to see, really see, the ways my children engage in our regular life and our adventures. This little beauty is being a typical kid in playing with her jacket. She's also actively reading historical facts during our visit to a German concentration camp. Before arriving, we really worried about what their experience would ...be like, and we were so grateful to see how well they handled taking in the very dire facts they were learning. 02.01.2022 Does anyone else feel a bit like they are looking out a window wondering what is going to change next? We're all in a bit of flux right now. Hoping everyone works together to provide the best future for us all. Today has been a big day of cancellations for us. Luckily, school is still on for now. I also had a great video chat with my dad, step mom and baby sister. So glad she was over at their house. It's been years since I saw her face.

02.01.2022 There's nothing like taking the time to teach children how to do things. The sense of accomplishment, the confidence and the knowledge they will be ok in life is irreplaceable. Loving watching this girl prepare a treat for the family, including clean up! (Imagine my excitement on the last part... lol) Man, it takes longer to help children learn to do things themselves. So much longer... Those hard times are so worth it though. ... At 12, we are coming out of the 'teach every skill' stage and moving into more about emotional and social skills.
