04.01.2022 Mourner restrictions at Funerals update regarding ROOM SIZES Up to 50 people are now permitted to attend a Funeral Service HOWEVER, due to safe distancing rules, you must still have a Chapel... or Church big enough to comply with Government Regulations. THEREFORE, please phone us to discuss the maximum number of mourners permitted in the Crematorium or Cemetery Chapel where you wish to hold a Funeral Service. Also, catering afterwards does not fall within the same relaxed rules as a Funeral Service in Victoria. You may not be able to have the same quantity of mourners attend a wake. What are the penalties for noncompliance? Victoria Police can issue on the spot fines of up to $1,652 for individuals and up to $9,913 for businesses for: - Refusing or failing to comply with the emergency directions; - Refusing or failing to comply with a public health risk power direction - Refusing or failing to comply with a direction by the Chief Health Officer to provide information. Fines of up to $20,000 for individuals and $100,000 for businesses are possible through the court system.
