18.01.2022 Pleasing to see NSW Govn has reduced the possession limit of cockles from 50 to 20 per person, back dated from 14 October 2020 and implemented following consultation with and support from the NSW RFAC. The change is to ensure a balance between managing future cockle numbers while still providing a sustainable catch for recreational fishers. The rules now allow for a combined recreational possession limit of 50 cockles, mussels and pipis, of which only 20 can now be cockles and the new possession limit applies per person across the whole State.

17.01.2022 Snapper, whiting and kingfish are in plague numbers all around the harbour and neighbouring beaches and reefs. Get out there and help get them under control by catching some keepers for dinner !!

15.01.2022 Reports from around Port Kembla suggested the better flathead seemed to be sitting in around the 30-40 meter marks, and the flatties were averaging a very healthy 50-60 cm and guys were saying that it is not taking them long to get their bag limits of these tasty fish. Beaches were on fire over the weekend with plenty of good sized bread and butter species landed with whiting, bream and flatties taken home. Plenty of big tailor have been reported with some big boppers to 3kg...s on some beaches but again, first and last light was the trick finding these fish. There are still plenty of salmon with the tailor and after dark there has been some exhilarating catches of mulloway on the lighter tailor gear. The weather isn't looking that bad this weekend so hopefully, bend rods, burnt thumbs and scales on the sand or decks.
