23.01.2022 Pomelo/ is the largest Citrus in Citrus family. The fragrance of it’s beautiful white flower makes this fruit tree very special to me. Bees love it too.... Fruit takes almost a whole year to get fully ready to eat. Last season’s yellow colour matured fruit and new season’s white flower together give the tree a beautiful looks in Spring. In Sydney weather it’s easy to grow all sorts of citrus fruits. It’s also easy to grow in pots. https://www.facebook.com/100008682038238/posts/1728918847407500/?extid=L75ZxZtyVi4Ub2c4&d=n

03.01.2022 Coconut Palm Coconut Palms are one of the well-known plants in the tropical region. It also grows well in some part of the subtropical region. Reg...ular verity of Coconut palm can take 6-10 years to get the first fruit although now a days dwarf verities are available and popular as fruit can get from 3-5 years. If you want to grow coconut, it’s better to plant it sooner as it takes time to grow. Although coconut palm is an easy growing palm in right climate, it’s also sensitive to cold weather. It’s not much frost tolerant and also don’t like much wet in cold weather. A wide range of palm trees grow in Sydney weather; I believe if we take extra care Coconut palm also can grow in some part of the Sydney. These days so much information, ideas, technology about growing plants are available in the web when we need. It’s not any more too difficult to grow any plants in challenging environment. In my long gardening experience in Sydney I have found now a day it’s a lot easier to grow some plants what we use to think can’t grow in Sydney. Coconut palm can grow in full sun, even in shade. It requires well drained and compost rich soil to grow well. In summer watering regularly and keeping the soil moist help the growth. In winter Coconut palm don’t like wet and soggy environment much. Coconut palm can grow up to certain size in pot. I have found it a very attractive pot plants for indoor, balcony and pot gardening. Unless the pot is significantly big it’s not realistic to expect fruits grow in pot. As regular Coconut palm can grow 10m or more I’ll not recommend to grow it in full in a pot or container. Small Coconut palm is also an attractive item as a present item. My personal favourite variety is Dwarf Coconut. This variety only gets to around 5m and is known to produce fruit much earlier, around 3-5 years. Often Dwarf coconut tree is more attractive too. Picking coconuts in standing on the ground is a dream for many backyard gardeners. Dwarf Coconut varieties are the answer to their dream them.
