25.01.2022 Hi everyone Now onto the next comp and it promises to be a brute (in a good way!). GAMEBORE BIG BIRD SHOOTS are always popular as they feature targets that are... a bit tougher, a bit more technical and a bit more frustrating but always great fun. To be held on SUNDAY 30th AUGUST. Come and shoot targets the big boys shoot. The Gamebore Big Bird competition will be 104 targets (four rounds of 26) . Please tell your mates and get a squad together. This will be a great opportunity to practice for the upcoming two SCNSW STATE SELECTION SHOOTS being held at this club on the following weekend, 5th & 6th September. (this club Saturday and Cooma Sporting Clays on Sunday) Two separate 100 target comps. Please put both (or one of these days) in your diary.

24.01.2022 Hi everyone Here is the results of the Gamebore Big Bird Shoot held last Sunday, 29th November. this shoot was dedicated to Nick Malanos who was sadly lost to ...us on the 14th November. Thank you again to our sponsor GAMEBORE AUSTRALIA for their continued support of this popular event. It was HOT, so HOT and windy. if the sun wasn't melting the clays the wind was blowing them from reach. In saying that, many that spoke to me after still enjoyed the day. Thanks to the range setters and those that packed up, Barbara in the office and all that helped. We had 65 come and brave the heat and tough targets. Congrats to Craig Brown for HIGH GUN The full list of results cab be seen of SCA LIVE SCORES, the link is below. https://scalivescores.com.au/Home/EventResults/922/-1/2 Next Saturday, December 5 is our Christmas Shoot, we are opening all the stands for PRACTICE and stand 7 will have the ever popular FLUSH. Lunch will be provided by the club and this is a great time for members to bring their Christmas Gift Card to be redeemed.

23.01.2022 Hi everyone This coming Sunday, January 31, is our first comp of 2021 and it will be a cracker! Tommy Z has been working tirelessly to create an all new Big Bir...d course, two ranges full of all new challenging targets. 104 targets over two ranges. As usual, 9am start, please present yourself (with your whole squad if you wish to shoot together) to the office to sign in, Gamebore ammo is available and Tony will be at the grill. We welcome all licenced shooters to our club to compete on the day, if they do not have Sporting Clays Australia membership they will be graded on the day. 23.01.2022 Hi Everyone This coming Sunday, 5th July, is our first day open to ALL LICENCED SHOOTERS. YOU MUST PRESENT YOURSELF TO THE OFFICE PRIOR TO SHOOTING - NO EXCE...PTIONS. ALSO, NO P650 UNLICENCED SHOOTERS AT THE MOMENT. I have been down working at the range with Allan, Hugh, Colin. Ray and Tom today and it is amazing what work has been done by so few over this pandemic period. The range looks amazing and the targets for the weekend look so good, most of the targets have been changed. We will have about 12 tower targets, 3 rabbits targets, Loopers, wow, we have lots of loopers, all over the 10 stands. All up you will be shooting 60 targets per round over 10 stands. The variety of the targets to cater to all grades is excellent. To stay open we have to stay safe, so please obey the social distancing rules all day. There is sanitizer at every stand to spray the controller, squads will be a maximum of 4, you will only be able to shoot the menu (4 double barrel targets and then a pair). Please handle your Promatic target card yourself. Do not crowd about the stand, please give all the squads good distance. Once you have finished for the day, please pack up and leave as quick as possible. The club house will be closed (except the toilets) and unfortunately, there is no canteen, so please bring your own water and food. Cash is acceptable on the day, but if you can, please use a credit card to tap and shoot. Since we are shooting till 3pm, lets not all get there at 9am, please consider coming a tad later.

23.01.2022 Hi everyone This coming Sunday, 20th September, is our third of four PRACTICE DAYS this month at your club. We will be tweaking the range and throwers. The ra...nge will open at 9am. Tommy and Allan have set some amazing targets over the two ranges that will test you, a couple may make you cry, we will see. 104 tricky technical targets over two ranges. 9am start, ammo available, canteen open. 22.01.2022 Hi everyone Great day at the range last Sunday with about 74 shooters coming to enjoy the range. All that I spoke to complimented the range and the target selec...tion. This coming Sunday, 26th July, is our fourth Sunday PRACTICE DAY, it is also the ARTEMIS GUN CLUB day at our range. Again there will be 10 stands with 40 throwers which some will be changed on Thursday by the range setters. ALL LICENCED SHOOTERS WELCOME. Please, No P650 shooters at the moment. The canteen will be open, the range will open at 9am and we ask you again, if you have visited any of the Sydney ‘hotspots’ over the past week, please monitor yourselves for any Covid-19 symptoms and if you have any, no matter how slight, it would be best to stay at home to protect our members.

22.01.2022 Hi everyone Another great day at the range today, so many coming out to have a well earned shot after so many months locked up. This coming Saturday, July 11, ...will be another PRACTICE DAY. We are open to ALL LICENCED SHOOTERS to come down and try out the range set by Tom and Allan. We will have 10 stands set up with 60 targets. We will be tweeking the range from this weekend so pretty much it will be new target presentations. Thank you to all that came this weekend and enjoyed the range and for obeying the social distancing and sanitizing rules. We will stay open if we all stay and play safe. Please share this with your shotty mates. I will keep you informed later in the week for more information on this day.

21.01.2022 Hi everyone A great fun day at the range today. If you stayed home due to the weather, you were wrong, very wrong. It only sprinkled for a few minutes other t...han that it was a perfect day to smash some amazing targets. As promised, the range setters exceeded expectations. We had nothing but compliments from the 60 plus shooters who came, especially about the brute of a championship target on stand 10, I think by the end of the day most had hit it more than once. This coming Sunday is PRACTICE DAY. English Sporting comp was scheduled in the calendar but we will not start comps till August. But, if you are, like me, an English Sporting fan then use this day to just shoot doubles, have a mini comp with your squad mates. When in the stand shoot A then B, B then C, C then D and lastly D then A (I know that is not the proper rules, but who cares). We will be having another English Sporting Comp on October 18. Thank you Barbara for running the office today and Tony and Effie's welcoming faces was great to see again in the canteen and his food, as always, was excellent, Welcome back Tony. Thanks to Colin Bradbury and his setup/packup team today, well done guys.

21.01.2022 Hi everyone Our club's year is officially over (but not quite yet) with our Christmas Party and Flush. What a great day it was, around 90 members and guests en...joyed the 8 stands still set up with most of the Gamebore Big Bird Targets from last week and the FLUSH was as, as expected, insane! Videos coming. At lunch we have three yearly awards CLUB CHAMPION Andy Bell 2020 BIG BIRD CHAMPION Chris Barrowman CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR Philip Moses Tony did a great job of feeding the masses today with BBQ chook, salads breads nibbles etc. Thank you Tony, all very tasty. Barbara as always held the office together and Allan manned the Flush all afternoon till we felt the throwers were running dry. Thank you to all that set up and packed up, you can have a break till next thursday when we start up again. Now, more good news, we have two extra shoots this year that have been arranged by Tommy Zorgios. This coming Sunday 13th December and Sunday 20th December are additional PRACTICE DAYS. All the stands will be open so come down, and remember, we welcome all licenced shooters at our club. The canteen will be open on both days.

20.01.2022 Hi everyone Sunday 16th August, just three more sleeps till our first comp back and it will be a biggy. Mick Smith Memorial Comp. The rangesetters have been ou...t today creating the course and the final touches are being done Friday. I know it will be amazing. There will be two ranges, 8 stands, approx 32 throwers. Squads will be a maximum of 5 shooters, please have your complete squad with you when you sign in at the office to save delays in calling and starting your squad. The office will not hold positions in squads if the shooter has not arrived. We welcome ALL LICENCED SHOOTERS to compete, if you are not a SCA member you will be graded on the day, There is NO TARGETS ONLY, so why not just come, squad up and shoot 100 targets. We are in a pandemic, social distancing is now the rule, sanitize the controller at every stand and please bring your own sanitizer on the range. You may wear a mask on the range. 20.01.2022 Hi everyone I am putting this competition up early as it will be a cracker! Sunday 18th October will be our ENGLISH SPORTING COMPETITION (Club point score eve...nt). This will be an event shot over 4 separate ranges, 120 targets in total ALL SHOT AS PAIRS, (no singles). There is no gun position rules with this comp, you can shoot gun up if you like. ENGLISH SPORTING is one of the most challenging sporting events as you have no second chances, but it is up there as one of the most enjoyable competitions, you will not be disappointed. Our rangesetters will set up four ranges of 30 targets per range. I am excited!! Now the even better news. This comp will have 3 categories, 12g U/O, Sub-Gauge and Side by Side, all separate comps (for those that have a Sub-Gauge Side by Side you will have to pick one group, sorry). There will be HIGH GUN PRIZES IN THE THREE CATEGORIES and then ALL will be competing for A, B, C, LADIES and JUNIORS to third place as normal. Please be aware that our club follows all the Covid-19 safety guidelines including social distancing and sanitizing at every stand. Please bring your own sanitizer for extra protection and remember, to stay open we have to stay safe. Please share this with your shotty mates and put it in your diary as a 'must shoot' event.

19.01.2022 Hi everyone Our Gamebore Big Bird Shoot has come to a close, and what a cracker it was!! 12 squads, 67 shooters, came to tackle Tom Zorgios' range, and it was... conquered. Many feel that this was one of the best and most technical ranges we have ever set for a Big Bird Shoot. I am sure the springs on the throwers will be looking forward to a well earned rest for a while. Huge thank you to all the rangesetters that worked tirelessly to set up the range, to all that packed up and to Barbara and Dana in the office who together got us all out shooting in record time, and to Effie in the canteen keeping us fed and watered. We had a huge shoot off for High Gun between Tom Zorgios and Bryan Boon, also 2nd and 3rd in B Grade and 1st and 2nd in C Grade. The shoot off was pretty unique, and in keeping with the tough Big Bird tradition, 5 shooting positions in front of the clubhouse (starting at stand 6) shooting Sim Pairs off the huge cherry picker. High Gun shoot off went into sudden death and Tom Zorgios was victorious. Here are the results HIGH GUN TOM ZORGIOS 87 WELL DONE TOMMY!!!! 19.01.2022 Hi everyone Sunday 29th November is the very last comp of the year and what a cracker it will be. We finish the year off with the GAMEBORE BIG BIRD SHOOT. Thi...s is always one of the most popular comps during the year but we will like to remember and dedicate this day to a very loved member of our club. 19.01.2022 Hi Everyone Just giving a big thank you to Khaled Mahfouz for donating and cutting/preparing all the aluminium tubing and Colin Bradbury for the assembly of nea...r 50 new targets signs. We have received some and you will start to see them on the range this coming Sunday. Thank you again guys. Khaled’s generosity helps the club in so many ways, this is something that can be seen but behind the scenes there is so much more being done by a few members and I hope to show you this in a series of photos shortly to show you what your membership dollars help to create. Just a reminder, this coming Sunday, July 26, is our fourth Sunday PRACTICE DAY and it is also the ARTEMIS GUN CLUB SHOOT, 5 stand has been set up on Stand 7 for Artemis and you are welcome to shoot there when they have finished. 14.01.2022 Hi Everyone Day one is over of the SCNSW FITASC 'OLD STYLE' STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, proudly sponsored by our friends at Safari Firearms DL 405578863. 75 targets do...wn and Bart Brighentii is leading by 2 targets over Jason Solomons. I was in Jason's squad and watched him shoot a perfect 25 while in a hail storm (tick that one of the bucket list - shooting in a hail storm). You could see the hail being shattering by the shot on its way to the clay. The hail wasn't too big but give it a month and the story will be golf balls and in a year, tennis balls. The three ranges today were amazing and enjoyed thoroughly by the 72 shooters, tomorrow we will have three new ranges to attack. Thank you Clare in the office and Effie and Tony on the grill, great work as always. 'Old Style' FITASC is regarded as the most enjoyable and challenging of all the sporting clays disciplines and today, once again, proved that.

13.01.2022 I just got home and the range is fantastic, 10 stands, 6 targets per stand with some very technical and challenging targets, a nice spread for every grade. We ...are open to ALL LICENCED SHOOTERS tomorrow, Sunday 5th July from 9am. Ammo avail but no food. Please bring your own water and snacks. See more

13.01.2022 Hi everyone It is hard to believe that Christmas is just over 2 months away and like most I have done nothing about Christmas presents. Are you sick of socks, t...ies and books you will never read for Christmas? Australian Sporting Clays Sydney has the best Christmas present idea for you to somehow pass onto your family. We can supply them a gift card loaded with targets to use at our range on any practice day. The cost is $10 per round (28 targets), so a $50 gift voucher would give you 140 targets, $100 a whopping 280 targets and so on. 12.01.2022 Hi everyone THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE TO OUR ADVERTISED FIRST PRACTICE SHOOT ON SATURDAY 4TH JULY. PLEASE READ THIS POST IF YOU ARE THINKING OF COMING TO OUR RAN...GE ON SATURDAY JULY 4. AND PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR SHOTTY MATES. THIS SHOOT IS FOR MEMBERS OF AUSTRALIAN SPORTING CLAYS SYDNEY CLUB ONLY. We will be open two days, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July. We ask you to only shoot one round depending on demand. We apologise for this, but we are wading through unknown waters, to STAY OPEN WE HAVE TO STAY SAFE. We all have to be aware of social distancing and sanitizing. Our webpage and Facebook site has had just under 10,000 views since we announced our reopening and personally this is scary with how many may turn up - hence MEMBERS ONLY for day 1. Day 2 is open to all but please do not all rock up at 9am, we will be shooting till about 3pm, so come a bit later if you wish. Please bring your own food and water as the canteen at the moment is closed. Ammunition is available on the day.

11.01.2022 Hi everyone This coming Saturday, 6th February, is our first of three PRACTICE DAYS this month. 9am start (except for the 13th as our AGM will be held at 9am a...nd the range will open after). All licenced shooters are welcome. History: Capt Adam Bogardus invented the Glass Ball Trap. Prior to 1877 shooters used live pigeons held under 'traps' that were released in competition. The 'Bogardus Balls', as they become known, were glass spheres filled with feathers. The sphere also was ridged so the pellets would not slide over it.

10.01.2022 Hi everyone This coming Sunday, 20th September - PRACTICE DAY. The range is set and it looks amazing, we have moved several throwers, added a rabbit and repos...titioned stands to make it somewhat different and just as challenging. Our next competition is on Sunday 18th October, this will be 120 target ENGLISH SPORTING comp. This is a comp where all targets are thrown as DOUBLES. So use these practice days to hone your doubles skills. When in the stand shoot doubles, start with A then B, B then C, C then D, then D then A. Finally, create a Sim Pair for all your mates to shoot. Please remember, score sheets are available at the office for a mini comp with your squad mates. By the 10th stand you would have shoot a 100 target comp. This English Sporting Comp is also having separate HIGH GUN prizes for 12 Gauge, Sub-Gauge and Side by Side. So please get your Sub-Gauge or SXS out and get acquainted with her again. You will have to nominate either SXS or Sub-Gauge, not both, sorry. 9am start, ammo available and the canteen will be open. We welcome ALL LICENCED SHOOTERS but at present, no P650 unlicenced shooters. This club obeys all the Sport NSW Covid-19 safe guidelines which include social distancing, sanitizing and restricting regional travel.

10.01.2022 We have just been advised by our State association that both the State Selection shoots on 5 and 6 September have been 'postponed' due to the recommendations se...t by NSW Health and Sport. Here is the transcript from our State President, Andrew Fairfield-Smith. You are permitted to say "Bugger". Hi All Unfortunately, as you would be aware the saga continues with the Covid restrictions. Earlier this week a notice was issued by the NSW department of health regarding Community Sports which has been well posted on this site. We have waited a few days to see how this was going to progress with the continuing improvement on reduced Covid cases in NSW. Not much luck on that front. Which leaves us with no choice but to, as a minimum postpone the Sydney / Cooma Selection weekend and most probably the State Championships. Where to from here re- the State program? Hard to say. I believe we wait and see what developments occur over the next 1 - 2 weeks. Unfortunately, we are running out of 2020 (Could be a good thing) As to club shoots. I know some clubs have already taken steps to put out notices regarding restricting movements between zones. I do not think there is much choice on this. On the bright side for the moment we can still hold local events. I wish I had better news Funnily enough you can still get on a bus travel to the Snowy Mountains from anywhere in the state. Do breakfast, lunch and dinner pub whatever?? 1 day, 2 day or weeks? No issues??? Andrew Fairfield-Smith President. Sporting Clays NSW 0413 013 689

08.01.2022 Dear members and visitors. An important update to you all. Due to the current NSW government guidelines ASCS will be asking all members and visitors to familiar...ise themselves with the current Covid 19 restrictions prior to attending the range. If you feel you do not meet these guidelines for any reason do not attend the range. These measures are for both individual and community safety and must be strictly observed by all attending either club practice days or club competitions. The Committee therefore request that only shooters residing in the Greater Sydney metropolitan area attend the ASCS range for the next six-week period. To our traveling Shooters we regret these circumstances but look forward to the future when we will once again enjoy your visits. Thanks for your compliance during these unique times, your acceptance of these new conditions has been exceptional. Social distancing and sanitizing whilst on the range has been fantastic. Hopefully this extreme restriction will be over quickly. Regards Australian Sporting Clays Sydney President Paul Smidt

07.01.2022 Hi everyone Last night we had our meeting and the good news is that from the 1st August we will be shooting our calendar as per normal. So our first competition... back will be the MICK SMITH MEMORIAL COMPETITION on Sunday 16th August. This is a big event and one to remember a great supporter and pioneer in shooting. Two weeks later, on Sunday 30th August, is the GAMEBORE BIG BIRD SHOOT. This will either bring tears, profanities or screams for joy. One of our MUST SHOOT comps we have. Come and shoot targets the big boys shoot. Now, more good new,Chef Tony is back this coming SATURDAY 11th JULY. He will be feeding us as well as he does, please be aware that the square metre rule will allow 30 people in the clubhouse. Today I helped out setting up the range with Allan, Colin, Hugh and Tom (thank you guys). The range we all set up is amazing, we have moved several stands, created totally new targets and even made the tower midi bird everyone loved (and cursed) on stand 10 even more (fun) challenging! We have set a very fair range with a smattering of C grade targets right up to a couple of AA grade championship targets. We have dropped the cheerypicker targets on stand 6 for maintenance but the cherrypicker near stand 7 is feeding a beautiful B grade overhead L-R quartering away target for stand 7 and a blistering R-L quartering away AA target to stand 8. Stand 1 has had a big revamp and I think it is great, a good way to start to the day. There is no set menus now, shoot the board, add a double but if no one is waiting then knock yourselves out. Victoria is back in lockdown, this could be us soon if we all do not obey the social distancing rules. So please, please!, stay 1.5mtrs apart from each other, only handle your promatic card yourself and sanitize on every stand. Not a bad idea to bring your own sanitizer. If you want us to stay open, then please stay safe. The panorama photo I took today from the tower.

07.01.2022 Hi everyone Great day today at the range with 70 shooters enjoying the practice stands plus 30 guests here for a Christmas shoot and 4 Try Shooters, it was a b...ig day. The range has one more shoot day before New Year, next Sunday, 20th December is you last chance to get a clay hit until we reopen on Sunday January 3. It is great to see how our native wildlife live in harmony with the range, This little guy (and several others) have made the tower throwers their home and thankfully they allow us to use their home each week. The canteen will be open and we have Gamebore ammo available. We welcome all licenced shooters and you are welcome to bring a friend to shoot under a P650 form. We are a Covid-19 safe club and obey all the recommendations set out by Sport NSW including social distancing and sanitizing, if you are feeling unwell please refrain from coming.

06.01.2022 Peter Cassar was on fire today at the Gamebore Big Bird shoot, he won HIGH GUN with an amazing 86/104. Big Bird shoots are famed for their hard, technical big... targets and ours was a brute! Tommy Z set an amazing two courses which we all enjoyed, yes a few cried, several attended counselling after but all in all a great comp. 14 squads, 77 shooters came out on the day. Huge thank you to the girls in the office, Barbara and Dana kept us on track all day and also the rangesetters setting and packing up. PRACTICE DAY this coming Saturday, 6th February, we intend to keep a lot of the targets the same and add a couple of more stands, so come out and practice (rabbits!!!) the targets you had problems with. 06.01.2022 SPORTING CLAY NATIONALS - BRISBANE - OCTOBER DATE CANCELLED - Sorry Folks but we tried to keep the event alive for October but we have run out of time with goo...d news. When the Covid-19 situation was reviewed a month ago the country seemed to be getting it together & it looked hopeful that we would all be Australians again with free travel between the States happening in August,. Our earlier optimism has been deflated with the worsening conditions in Victoria & also NSW with further lock downs as more people are being infected with a second wave of Covid-19. The news is the lock downs will be here until Christmas at least. This news along with the other states in Australia in either keeping their borders closed down or stopping travel interstate for the remaining States makes the process untenable. Sad we know, but this Covid-19 problem is out of our control and unfortunately we are all passengers along for the ride. We will keep you informed as and when we receive further news.

04.01.2022 Hi everyone Wow, it is hard to believe it is a year since we were all together for a Christmas shoot! It has been a year that we will all remember as one of th...e worst in our known history, a year of fires, floods and contagions. We were isolated in our homes, we were unable to see family and friends, we were unable to do most of the things we love. Thankfully, we have begun to pull ourselves out of this, we have all sacrificed and now there is some light there, so this is now a time to celebrate our friends and family (and have a bit of fun for ourselves) with a Christmas Shoot Party. This coming Saturday, December 5, is our annual Christmas Shoot and Flush. From 9am, we will have all 10 stands open for PRACTICE including Stand 7, it will have the ever so popular FLUSH set up with a bucket load of throwers shooting clays in all directions. A four man flush ($10 per person) will throw 100 targets for you all to shoot at. This is not a comp, just pure fun. This is a cash only stand please. The canteen is open, Chef Tony is preparing a beautiful Christmas feast for a minimal fee of about $10pp (our club members are free). We welcome all licenced shooters at our club. They do not need to be a member to attend, but, rest assured, we would love them to join. We are a Covid-19 safe club, we follow the guidelines set out by Sport NSW including social distancing and sanitizing, if you are feeling unwell please refrain from coming.

02.01.2022 After every shoot a dedicated group of workers packs up the range and locks everything up till we shoot again, but it is made harder by having to pick up scores... of discarded shell cartridges thrown by shooters and not picked up. At a competition, under SCA rules, you will lose targets if you do not put cartridges in the bin. On a practice day, it is just common courtesy. Please remember that every cartridge thrown has to be picked up by someone else, someone that just wants to get home. See more

01.01.2022 CLUB MEMBERS ONLY FOR PRACTICE DAY ON SATURDAY 4TH JULY. The first day that our club is able to be open after the lockdown will be Saturday July 4. Ammo is available at the range. Please share this with your shotty mates.

01.01.2022 Hi Everyone PRACTICE DAY this coming Saturday 8th August. The rangesetter has done some tweeks to the range today and added a couple of extra throwers on Stand ...7. They all look fantastic and I can guarantee you a great day of targets. All up, 42 different targets to have a go at over the 10 stands. Please remember to social distance, do not shoot until you have presented yourself to the office, sanitize the controller on every stand and we are sorry, but still no unlicenced shooters (P650). 9am start and the canteen will be open.

01.01.2022 Hi everyone The range is set for this coming Saturday, 5th September, for our first (of 4) PRACTICE DAYS this month. We have worked all day to prepare this rang...e and it is an absolute cracker!! If you liked the Gamebore Big Bird Shoot last Sunday then you will love this setup. 10 stands with 42 throwers. We have tweaked and changed many targets, added new targets, extra stands and throwers. We have kept the most popular stands from Sunday pretty much the same if you would like to practice on them (stands 8, 9 and 10 is similar). Stand 7 has new targets and a mix of the old, all up 6 throwers on that stand. The range will open at 9am, please present yourself to Barbara and Dana at the office before entering the range.
