25.01.2022 PofA relocation to a rafter bracket to make way for some fascia, gutter and eave work

23.01.2022 I know I have a lot of sparky mates on here and people / clients who follow Sydney Level 2. The industry I work in has undergone some recent changes unfortunately not for the better. The changes took effect on 1st December 2017 where new legislation was passed regarding the energy metering sector of our industry. This was to promote power of choice when it comes to the supply of your electricity meter. Something that really didnt need change but a repercussion form the pr...ivatisation of Ausgrid, what should have remained an Australian asset sold to the highest bidder. People loved buying and banking on the utilities in monopoly, I guess these guys never played. Im not contesting the requirement to de monopolize, its the way it was done and the effect it has had not only on us holding operations accounts but right down to the consumer, where builders are struggling to power sites, where anything relating to the meeting of a site what once was a 2-3 days process is now taking 6-8weeks. We have lost income from this move and our work cannot be completed without this part. IPART has been engaged to review and comment the situation forced upon us by the retailers. I have serviced and helped many of you over the years and now I am requesting a small favour. You dont need to be a sparky to have your say, anyone that has been exposed to this whether it be waiting for weeks for a meter through your retailer, being on hold trying to sort out an account or someone that understands what we are going through can submit for this cause. https://www.ipart.nsw.gov.au//Reviews/Electricity/Retailers-meter-installation-practices-in-NSW Its only valid until the end of the month so please do me a solid, the more the better. Thanks in advance.

22.01.2022 Came across some non compliant work today, the most Ive seen at a single installation for a while. Its sad to see that contractors, especially level 2s that take little no pride in their work, constantly cutting corners and risking lives. Its difficult and embarrassing having to explain to a customer that they were blind sighted and ripped off and it is now going to cost more money to rectify. These situations give all tradies a bad name and injects unnecessary tension. T...he industry these days is very price driven where customer service and workmanship is not regarded as a deciding factor. The customer chooses the cheaper quote believing they will get the same job and end up with what you see below. This customer paid for a three phase upgrade and admittedly opted for the cheaper quote. Every photo has a different defect attached to it. See more

05.01.2022 Detectives have released images of two men who may be able to assist with inquiries into hazardous electrical work being conducted across the Sydney metropolita...n area. Police would like to speak with anyone who can help identify any possible locations where such electrical work has taken place or has been conducted. Officers are concerned that an unlicensed syndicate is operating across the area which offers clients cheap wiring and unmetered access to the electrical grid. Police believe the activities may be linked to the death of a 24-year-old tradesman at Carlton and a house fire at Bexley, both of which occurred in Sydneys south last year. About 3pm on Tuesday 21 February 2017, emergency services were called to a house on Short Street, Carlton, following reports a tradesman had been electrocuted. NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to revive the 24-year-old man; however, he died at the scene. In a separate incident, emergency services were called to Carrington Street, Bexley, just before 9.30pm on Saturday 30 September 2017, and found a single-level home well alight. Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze; however, the brick and tile house sustained significant damage. No injuries were reported. Officers from St George Police Area Command launched investigations into both incidents, with SafeWork NSW assisting in relation to the mans death at Carlton. St George Police Area Commands crime manager, Detective Inspector Damian Henry, issued a warning to the public regarding the potentially unlawful and hazardous electrical works being conducted by the syndicate. Police believe these people are still operating in the Sydney area and we are urging the community to check the licences of any trades people they may wish to use. We hold serious concerns for the welfare of any person within properties where this type of electrical work has been conducted, as it has the potential to result in fire, serious injury or even death, Det Insp Henry said. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report crime via NSW Police social media pages.

01.01.2022 SAFETY ALERT: Fortunately no-one was hurt when this privately owned power pole snapped at Saratoga recently. If you have private poles or powerlines on your pro...perty you are responsible for their safe maintenance and operation. It's especially important as we enter the hotter months as private poles and wires which aren't safely maintained by owners can become a serious bushfire or safety risk. We're working with customers by periodically checking for bushfire hazards around private poles and overhead powerlines on private property ahead of bushfire season. Find out what your responsibilities are here: ausgrid.com.au/privatepoles
