27.04.2022 Our own Andrew Heath, from our control line section participated at the Nationals Championships at West Wyalong setting a new Australian Record of 300.31 klms .... well done mate your now in the history books..!

07.04.2022 GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE I am very happy to announce the Model Park will be re opening to the public on the Sunday the 27th of March. Its been way too long since we have seen your smiling faces, lets hope its a wonderful day for all and the Kids love the train rides.... There are no vaccination restrictions but we must respectfully follow the Government guidelines in place at the time. We do have Eftpos facilities at the canteen and the front gate, and remember your hat and sunscreen, we hope to see you all there.

21.03.2022 INFORMATION UPDATE REGARDING THE SALE OF 869 LUDDENHAM ROAD As some of you may be aware the site of the Sydney Society of Model Engineers has been sold. We want to inform everyone that the Model Park will continue to operate from our current Luddenham Road address for the next 4 years, during that time we will be purchasing a new property and begin building a bigger and better Model Park.... We have been at our current location since 1970 and it’s been a brilliant, but due to the Northern Gateway Precinct and the new Western Sydney International Airport developments it’s time to find ourselves a new home. We are and continue to be the oldest continually operating Model Engineering Society in the world and we intend on securing a location that will see us continue for another 100 years plus. We looking forward to when we can open again in a safe Covid compliant way and welcome you all back, we thank you all for your ongoing continual support. Please stay safe and well, we hope to be back soon.

18.03.2022 Well being that we are all in lockdown and unable to visit or use the Model Park I thought I would post some pictures of a large scale off road vehicle thats just been built. The brand of the car is Elcon and the model is a Gunn Edition Fourtex with the Australian supplier being King Rc from Queensland. The car is 4wd and runs a 26cc Zenoah 2 stroke engine, its revolutionary in its design as it takes drive from both sides of the crankshaft therefore having a pull starter is ...impossible. The car is started with an electric starter shft inserted into the housing on the front side of the engine. It runs twin steering servos with a double servo saver setup, it has a mechanical twin disc rear brake and a large single air operated front brake that runs via a seperate servo operating a diaphram plunger. The class this car fits is Efra 4wd Buggy with specific class dimensions and specifications its required to meet to comply at an international and national level. Frustratingly it will sit on the shelf until we are all able to congregate again, hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. I hope you enjoy the pics ...

24.01.2022 Well after a very inspiring AGM yesterday the boys and I from the Large Scale off road section got fired up... a lot of effort in 4 hours. New blades for the Flying Field ride on and 30 litres of fuel later.. The front of the Model Park was looking very unloved, its time to bring it back to were it should be. We also delivered the Husqvana for long over due repairs..

14.01.2022 Well its done and dusted, the 2019 RCRA large scale off Road titles are complete. 4 days of racing on our new track proved a huge success with visitors and competitors from all across Australia and 1 special guest from Germany. The Large Scale off road section would like to thank the SSME board for their help, confidence and support in our section with the massive undertaking with rebuilding the entire section.... We couldn't have done it without the support and backing of the Assocciation, we also have huge support from a sponsor base for which we are very grateful. Our event was a great success and it just wouldn't have been without the support of the section members! A special thank you goes to our race director for the event Brad Davis, it ran flawlessly under his control and guidence. We sincerely want to thank our event sponsors Callan Gunn King RC, OscarRC CrazyHobbies, Jan and Onno from Elcon Models, Garth from Menace RC and Franco from MCD Australia.. for all their support leading up to and throughout the event. I personally want to thank our own member base for all their hard work and commitment over the last 6 months of our track build, please thank your wives and children as well we all appreciate the sacrifices they have made also. 06.01.2022 Large scale off road member Michael Lucre couldnt resist throwing the Proboat Sonicwake 36 in the Pond this weekend, running an upgraded RCBB 160A ESC and Stock Motor with RCBB hardware on 6s. Running half throttle at the start of the video then a few Full throttle passes, first time running on the pond and definitely not the last!!
