24.01.2022 A SEASONAL VIGNETTE OF WATERCOLOUR PAINTINGS FROM FOUNDATION IN RUDOLF STEINER EDUCATION (DE02) STUDENT, EMILY PERKINS. It's truly rewarding to witness the positive perseverance of our students this year. Adjusting to online delivery of the planned April 2020 teacher training seminar was the first hurdle. ... Following the online seminar students have been working solidly through the online learning materials we've delivered. The Foundation in Rudolf Steiner Education (DE02) course has 6 modules; 3 are arts-based. The modules aim to support teachers in the classroom. How to teach art, how to teach music and how to engage children via creative speech. Here, you can see DE02 student Emily Perkin's beautiful watercolour images, created by following the online course we run (NESA accredited), 'Artistic Practices in Rudolf Steiner Education'. Beautiful work Emily. Well done for persevering!

24.01.2022 Eric Fairman has a big presence in our College and a big heart. Retired Steiner educator, his comprehensive Path of Discovery Curriculum Guides are a staple resource in our teacher training course, Foundation in Rudolf Steiner Education, the DE02. Profits from Path of Discovery go towards Eric's Nepalese work to help socio-economically challenged families send their children to Steiner schools in Nepal. Now, due to Covid19, many of these families are in dire straits and nee...ding food and medical treatment. Unable to work and without any social net to support them throughout this difficult period many are now starving. Please consider donating to Eric's endeavours. For $5 you can supply a family of 4 with enough dried goods (rice, lentils, vegetables and flour) to feed them for an entire week! This is Eric's message, 'I have created this fundraiser for the poor and vulnerable in Kathmandu. The country has been in total lock-down since 25 March. It is enforced by police with canes and sticks, who have no hesitation to beat anyone who dares to break to lock-down. Many people are 'daily wage' earners. The money the are paid at the end of a working day, feeds their family. Now they cannot work. Families I know are starving. I cannot personally help them all. I and my counterpart in Kathmandu who is doing the field work...desperately need your support. Please give us your invaluable financial support! Thank you so much!' Eric will fundraise until Covid19 is controlled in Nepal. Remember as Mother Theresa said, 'It is not how much you give, but how much love you put into the giving'. Let's support Eric and help the Nepalese!

21.01.2022 THE ARTFUL PARENT The Foundation in Rudolf Steiner Education course (DE02) is for teachers in training and also anyone, including parents, who are inspired by Steiner's pedagogy and want to learn more. Although we were forced to shift our Foundation course, Artistic Development in Steiner Education (a NESA course) to online delivery, it was very lovely to see students upload their completed works. Here is Adrienn Havesi-Nagy's painting. DE02 student, Adrienn produced some bea...utiful art works whilst working through the online module presented by Gill William-Smith. Here's one of her completed works and her testimonial. Thank you Adrienn. 'I feel like I have just experienced the whole primary art curriculum on my own in a few days, my family by my side. Well, I actually did. It feels sooo strange. But I do love my artwork and feel like I have this feel for the different kinds of medium used in my own hands now, in my nerves and fingertips, whereas I have only been watching my children produce these amazing artwork all these years. To hear the comment from a teenager: Mum, thats REALLY good! was like a way of saying we speak another common language now. I feel like the chamber of secrets has been opened, haha..! Gills instructions were so clear and the steps easy to follow. From the Watercolour paintings, through Form drawing and to Drawing it has been a most special experience for my senses at a time when the world seemed at a standstill. What a special way to keep your humanity. The different techniques, materials and range of colours used in classrooms for the different developmental ages are basically useful assessment tools as well for teachers. Steiner schools are truly fostering the imagination and human development of children. How blessed they all are!'.

17.01.2022 BRIDGING THE DISTANCE It has been a big effort but we're running our Distance Teacher Training courses, starting soon! This week we packed dozens of boxes with art supplies and reading materials to post to all our Foundation in Rudolf Steiner Education and Certificate students. Our brilliant tutors are Zooming away and using technology in new and surprising ways. Our students are now opening their posted parcels full of readers, art materials and music books. Next week they'...ll be guided through a fabulous online program of lectures from College tutors focusing on anthroposophy, inner development, Steiner curriculum, morning circle practise, music in lower primary, music in upper primary and a plethora of guided art modules. 16.01.2022 Looking after all our students from across the country is our priority. Most of our courses have adapted to online delivery, including the Foundation in Rudolf Steiner Education and Certificate in Rudolf Steiner Education course - for teachers in training. We do miss having our face-to-face intensives but have been surprised to discover some advantages having online delivery. Modules such as "Music in Steiner Education" and "Artistic Practices in Steiner Education" are now... online and allow students to practice their new skills and reinforce what they've learnt. In the privacy of one's own home students have been able to replay youtube videos again and again and hone their new teaching skills. Face-to-face training didn't offer this - you did the module in-person and then it was over and what you were taught was either remembered or it wasn't. So we've had an open mind and seen some positive outcomes in what we've had to adapt to doing. With all our short weekend workshops we are strictly limiting numbers and following public health recommendations. We are doing this to ensure we can keep staff and attendees healthy. Small courses are booking out quickly. Looking forward to less challenging times and also grateful that here in Australia we are managing fairly well, comparatively. The most heartening realization is that this pandemic has given us an opportunity to stop and reflect - on many levels. Enrolled students are finding much relevance and ongoing inspiration within Steiner's teachings, and this knowledge gives us joy.

14.01.2022 The Art of Caring - NOW POSTPONED UPDATE: DUE TO COVID-19 THIS COURSE WILL BE POSTPONED UNTIL LATER THIS YEAR (DATE TBC). PLEASE GET IN TOUCH IF YOU'D LIKE TO BE NOTIFIED WHEN WE HAVE NEW DATES. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT,... SYDNEY RUDOLF STEINER COLLEGE We're proud to be running this very special course in Sydney. Run over 2 weekends at the College's premise in Sydney, our most senior and acclaimed early childhood educator will present a comprehensive program to support the invaluable work of those caring for the very young, the 0-3 year olds. The Art of Caring speaks to parents at home with little children and babies. Parents can often feel undervalued as the role of carer sadly has little 'value' in our contemporary society. Most parents who've decided to forego their career in order to be a primary carer will relate to a sense of disempowerment that often seeps into their role as a full-time carer. This course strives to demonstrate how vital, life affirming and artful the carer is. Applying Rudolf Steiner's early childhood indications brings a whole new depth and wisdom to the caring person's role and responsibility. Carers will find a sense of validation and support in learning how Steiner's wisdom honours the development of the very young and the hugely valuable role of the young child's nurturers. The Art of Caring also speaks to professional child care workers, nannies and grandparents. When this course was run in Melbourne, a very inspired early childhood educator wrote this appreciative testimonial, 'The presenter's dedication to deepening our understanding of the importance of this early stage of life and the appropriate practises for caring for the young child was evident in her inspiring and detailed lectures. I truly appreciated the thoroughness of the content and materials offered. I will be sifting through them and digesting what I've learnt for the next few years! I feel so lucky to have been able to attend and will be taking much of what I've learnt into my personal and professional practices with children'. Please book in soon and remember this course runs over two weekends so you'll need to book into both. Call the Sydney Rudolf Steiner College if you have any enquiries on 02 9261 4001.

06.01.2022 Meeting with our new Coordinator -- Robyn Davis Robyn recently joined the Sydney Rudolf Steiner College as college coordinator and Primary foundation course coordinator. Her background was originally in the Arts, both in the UK and South Africa. Her interest in Waldorf/Steiner education began when she enrolled her young daughter into an established Waldorf kindergarten in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1992. Within a few years Robyn had embarked on a training to become a Kinderg...arten teacher and had joined a group of intrepid parents and teachers in establishing a Waldorf school in a coastal forest just outside Cape Town. Robyn remained committed to this pioneering school for 12 years, through its early developmental phases and challenges (including the rebuilding of the wooden structures after it burnt down). In 2010 Robyn joined the Early Childhood faculty at a Steiner based teacher training college for Kindergarten, Primary and Eurythmy students, in Cape Town. She remained there for over 8 years as faculty head, and one of a team of adult educators and mentors, to the many adult students who passed through the doors, eager to make a difference in the lives of young children in their communities. Three years ago Robyn became involved in international work. She currently holds a part time role as coordinator, tutor and mentor for Waldorf/Steiner kindergarten teacher training courses in northern China and Vietnam. Robyn immigrated to Australia in 2019 to be closer to her two daughters and her grandson. She has been involved with day services at an Art and Life-Skills centre for People with Disabilities. She has also created, together with a friend, a series of Artistic retreats known as ‘The Art of Life’. These are seasonal, self-developmental artistic modules and include time in nature, poetry, music, myth and story-telling. I look forward to this new chapter at the college, supporting the growth of this movement in collaboration with others, and to meeting the students along the way.

06.01.2022 On a drizzly Saturday in Sydney, our students gathered to participate in a lively creative speech workshop run by the ebullient Renate Millonig. Over 7 hours the group worked through epic, lyric and dramatic speech. Renate had compiled a trove of literary resources which accompanied the course and allowed all the teachers in the room to take new material back into the classroom. This is a NESA accredited course which will soon be available online for teachers to do. Call the College on (02) 9261 4001 to express your interest.

04.01.2022 Lou Harvey-Zahra is heading to Kamaroi School soon for her engaging, practical and empowering parent education workshop. This is a great opportunity to find inspiration in the most rewarding but challenging task of our life - parenting!

04.01.2022 It has been an intense time of late. Weve recently completed a challenging week of running all our distance education courses online. The Foundation in Rudolf Steiner Education (DE02), the Certificate in Rudolf Steiner Education (DE03), the Foundation in Rudolf Steiner Early Childhood Education (EC05) and the Anthroposophy Studies (EC07) course were delivered online. We are extremely fortunate that our tutors were able to adapt to the constraints of online delivery. Were g...rateful our students were committed to continuing with their chosen courses once it was clear we wouldnt be able to meet face-to-face. In-person training is preferable but in this tricky time were living through we do know the recent online courses still inspired those who were in lock-down. Our thanks to everyone who contributed to ensuring the five day online training ran seamlessly. Sydney Rudolf Steiner College

04.01.2022 BE ENCHANTED The Wisdom of Fairy Tales - a new one-day workshop presented by storyteller Ebba Bodame and Eurythmist Adam Chan. Book now as there are only 12 spots available!... Fairy tales contain wisdom and meaning for everyone, old and young. Through them, we can connect to the archetypal lessons of humanity. We may have first encountered them as a child, but to reconnect with fairy tales as an adult allows us to tap into their nourishment, to see our path through life reflected in their mirror. In this one-day workshop, celebrated storyteller Ebba Bodame will be our guide to finding and understanding the common threads which run through fairy tales. Ebba says, I was lucky to grow up with fairy tales in my daily diet. I have used them in my work as a teacher and as a mother. When parents enrich their childs world through fairy tales, it is a gift for life. Participants will be treated to the pleasure of hearing Ebba tell several fairy tales throughout the day, and will work together on unlocking the mysteries they hold in small group discussions. Ebba will share her tips on memorising and telling fairy tales, and creating an atmosphere that allows the listener to enter into the story. In the afternoon, artistic experiences -- painting and eurythmy -- will further deepen our understanding of the wisdom of fairy tales. Eurythmy tutor Adam Chan says, Through eurythmy we will explore the archetypal gestures that live within us and within all human beings. These have deep connections to our soul life. We will explore these archetypal gestures in an artistic way using the pictures given in traditional fairy tales as a vehicle, and connecting participants to greater self-knowledge and even self-acceptance. Join us in unlocking the mystery of fairy tales, and find a world full of treasures and sustenance for our own journey on earth. About the Presenters Ebba Bodame has worked with young children and parents for over forty years. As a storyteller who has loved and worked on these stories for her whole life, she is looking forward to sharing what she herself has gained through the wisdom of fairy tales. Adam Chan has taught eurythmy to adults and children in Australia, Canada, Vietnam, the Philippines and China, where the first graduates have just completed his four-year fulltime eurythmy training course. He currently teaches eurythmy at Linuwel Steiner School in Maitland. Please do not delay booking in as there are very limited places available.

03.01.2022 Thank you to one of our Rudolf Steiner Early Childhood education students for this heartfelt testimonial. Our early childhood education courses have been delivered online but will transition to in-person delivery in accordance with government advice. 'The coursework delivered by Sydney Rudolf Steiner College lecturers so far has been beyond outstanding. Each lecturer clearly applied a highly adaptive approach to quickly transition to online learning. As a side note, this onli...ne learning method has personally benefited myself learning remotely. I truly had an embodied sense that the lecturers were with each class member, fully engaging in a personable, inclusive and open-hearted manner. Although I was happier to absorb their teachings being shared from their deep wells of knowledge, I noticed the questions others had were responded to with genuine care and careful attention to detailing the subject at hand. Having personally experienced many learning situations, including that of University level, I have scarcely come across such an engaging seminar. Those in my household often witnessed a heart-warming glow being transferred from the lecturers to me, as I would involuntarily be grinning throughout each online session. Additionally, the coursework was delivered clearly and thoroughly, so that even during explanations of very deep or complex teachings, it felt easy to process and ponder'. Please call Sydney Rudolf Steiner College on 02 9261 4001 if you would like to be contacted when enrolments open for 2021 courses.

02.01.2022 It has been an intense time of late. We've recently completed a challenging week of running all our distance education courses online. We're g...rateful our students were committed to continuing with their chosen courses once it was clear we wouldn't be able to meet face-to-face. In-person training is preferable but in this tricky time we're living through we do know the recent online courses still inspired those who were in lock-down. Our thanks to everyone who contributed to ensuring the five day online training ran seamlessly. Sydney Rudolf Steiner College
