25.01.2022 Saw this champion out today clocking up some extra k’s with the girls. Been great to see so many people out today in their gear. Love the new wheels Craig.

23.01.2022 WOW...congratulations everyone ...we have done it! As a collective group this weekend we are up to 11,000km and more km are still to be counted. Such a phenomenal effort by everyone this year. We had been thrown the challenge of not being together this year in person - but through this virtual event - once again this amazing Sydney 2 CAMberra group have shown what this cause is all about - the bond and strength of Family and Friends coming together to support one another.... We honour all our special families who mean so much and all their precious babies and children gone too soon. A special shout out to Leon Moriceau, our A pack captain across the ditch in New Zealand - who has clocked up 305km and 2.242 metres of climbing this weekend alone - amazing effort! And...Team Gordon, congratulations on not only clocking up another 100km today - but also for your endless dedication, time, support and commitment to this weekend and Sydney 2 CAMberra overall. Enjoy the pictures everyone - and our biggest thanks to every member of our special Sydney 2 CAMberra family who care so much and continue to make a positive difference to so many. Stay tuned for more updates later! sydney2camberra.com

22.01.2022 2020 FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE SPOTLIGHT: - Fathers of Loss project: Red Nose Australia We are proud to partner with Red Nose Australia in producing 'Fathers of Loss’:... The stories of bereaved Fathers are missing from the landscape of stillbirth and newborn death. With the funding raised by the Sydney 2 CAMberra community, Red Nose will produce a short film ‘Fathers of Loss’, which tells the story of stillbirth and newborn death from the Father’s perspective. The backdrop of the film will be the Sydney 2 CAMberra ride which will be documented, and the stories of the Fathers and men involved will be recorded to create a beautiful and moving piece. This short film will provide support to newly bereaved dads whilst providing health care workers with insight into the needs of bereaved Dads so they can provide the best of care for grieving Dads and Grandpas. The film will also be used to influence and develop policies and services for bereaved Fathers. Father of Loss is a beautiful piece that will allow parents to come together in their grief and better understand each other’s needs. Donations for this weekend's Virtual Sydney 2 CAMberra event can be made at sydney2camberra.com

21.01.2022 Fantastic start to our goal, as at midday Saturday, we are just over 2,000kms. We will keep you all updated later today with Saturday total.

21.01.2022 So great to see so many people and families out today with their S2C gear on for day 2 of our weekend event. We have done some calculations across the massive efforts from so many of our S2C community and we’re getting closer to our overall goal. Get out there and enjoy the afternoon with a family ride or stroll and help us get across the line.

19.01.2022 SYDNEY 2 CAMBERRA FAMILY SPOTLIGHT Today we’d like to highlight a special family of the Sydney 2 CAMberra community who epitomise the heart of our event.... Pete and Georgie Keach have been ongoing participants and supporters of both Sydney 2 CAMberra and Red Nose, collectively raising an amazing $50,000 over the years. Last year alone they had Pete riding in the event, with Georgie volunteering and were also supported by their parents and two little girls Anna and Lucy over the 3-day event. Unfortunately, this year due to residing in Victoria they cannot participate in the virtual event outdoors with the heavy COVID restrictions in place. Instead, Pete has decided to embark on tackling 10,857 vertical metres indoors via Zwift on his bike! This will involve an incredible feat encompassing no sleep, 1 continuous ride, many hill repeats and lots of support from his girls. Pete is doing this to honour the 10,857 little lives lost. Tragically, Pete and Georgie know first hand the excruciating pain of what it feels like to lose a little life. Their son Sammy passed away of Sudden and Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI) at the age of 21 months. In unimaginable circumstances, Pete was working his shift as a paramedic on the night when the devastating call of his own son’s cardiac arrest came over the radio. This Sunday 13th September marks their Sammy’s 10th Birthday. Pete, alongside Georgie, Anna and Lucy, will be honoring this wonderful milestone of their special son and brother. In Pete’s words: We have been missing Sammy for 8 years. We continue to be surrounded by a large family of brothers and sisters, parents & nieces and nephews & every single day it becomes a little easier than the last. My take on this whole life event is that we as humans are at the top of the food chain so there is no way that these events or traumas or significant griefs can’t break us. For those in this community where the trauma is recent or remains a little raw, my only advice is to surround yourself with family and people you love. And if you have little or no family close by, remember the moment you signed up for this ride - that made everyone your extended Sydney 2 CAMberra family. The good thing about this family is you never have to ride alone. To the Keach Family thankyou for sharing your story and your pain. Your courage and strength touches us all and we will all be cheering for you and Sammy this weekend! Special note: Anyone who would love to show their support to Pete this weekend, he will be starting at 3am Sat 12th Sept on the Zwift France map, climbing Mt Ventoux. Simply go to Zwift and set your own "meet up" with (Keachy V.Everest) in the France map anytime from 3am Saturday. www.sydney2camberra.com

16.01.2022 SYDNEY 2 CAMBERRA VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT As our Virtual Sydney 2 CAMberra event commences today, we’d like to shine the spotlight on one of our Volunteers.... Kathryn Tanner (Kath) is a valued volunteer and member of our Sydney 2 CAMberra community. Over the past 2 years, she has personally raised $10,000 for our cause. In addition, she has volunteered countless hours of her time to support us as an integral part of the S2C committee and been a dedicated organiser of our Ride Finisher Functions in Canberra. Here is her story: I heard about the Sydney 2 CAMberra bike ride through the Loftus Community & the Mara’s Glam on the Green events. When Gill told me that you could volunteer for the ride, I was immediately interested, as riding was never an option for me. My first year of volunteering was in 2018 & I have loved spending a weekend with my Sydney 2 CAMberra family every year since. My reason for volunteering for the ride was in memory of our beautiful son, Rhys Samuel who was stillborn at 37 weeks over 20 years ago. To say that losing Rhys was a devastating time for Michael & I, is an understatement. Whilst the pain of Rhys not being with us eases over time, we will never forget our angel & he will forever be in our hearts. The work that organisations like Stillbirth Foundation Australia & Red Nose do is vital. The statistics show that 6 babies are stillborn every day, which is too many. I have always wanted to somehow give back to the organisations that helped us during our difficult time, which is why I got involved with Sydney2CAMberra & I have loved every minute of it. I have made so many great friends through the ride & at the same time raising much needed funds for fantastic organisations. In 2019, the ride raised $271,000 & I received the pleasure of being presented with the award for highest volunteer fundraiser, which was named in honor of Rhys. I am proud of the money I have raised to support families grieving and to fund research aimed at preventing stillbirth & infant deaths. We thank Kath and her family for sharing their special story and for the enormous and generous contribution in both time and fundraising they have made to our community. www.sydney2camberra.com

16.01.2022 2020 FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE SPOTLIGHT: - Stillbirth Foundation Australia We are proud to partner with the Stillbirth Foundation Australia in funding the following initiative for 2020: ... CEO of the Stillbirth Foundation Australia Leigh Brezler explains: The Stillbirth Foundation Australia is pleased to announce that this year’s Sydney 2 CAMberra donation will allow thousands of Australian healthcare workers and bereaved parents access to evidence-based guidelines and insight into supportive and respectful care following the loss of a baby. The funds will enable the design, printing and Australia-wide distribution of these guidelines, the development of which have been funded through two previous Foundation grants, which have yielded bereavement care plans for both health professionals and parents. Lead researcher, Associate Professor Fran Boyle, is thrilled with the announcement. ‘We have already heard from so many parents that they wish guidelines like these were available to them at the time of their loss,’ she said. Digital versions of the guidelines will also be available on the Stillbirth Foundation website from early 2021. The Foundation is most grateful for the continued support of the Sydney 2 CAMberra event and we wish all the participants in this weekend’s ride the very best (and no flat tyres). This cuddle cot is named in honour of Alexis Lavelle, the daughter of Andrew and Kerrianne Lavelle.
