23.01.2022 The Board of School Sport Australia (SSA) met last week to discuss the 2021 SSA Championship program. Due to the uncertainty of when borders will reopen; the t...ime required for the selection process; the different stages individual member bodies are at with regards to school sport and the timeframe for organising a complex Championship the Board has decided to postpone the 2021 Triathlon Championship due to be held in Hervey Bay, QLD (9-12 March, 2021). The Board will liaise with SSAs National Programs Committee to identify if and when the Championship can be rescheduled. A decision on other Championships will be made by the Board in due course.

08.01.2022 Update 15 September 2020 - School Sport Representative Pathway - Term 4 2020 The NSW Primary Schools Sports Association and NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association executives, in conjunction with the NSW Department of Education, made the difficult decision to suspend the representative school sport program for 2020, this includes Sydney East activities.... A number of factors were taken into account when deciding to suspend the program: the ongoing uncertainty of the consequences to daily life of the COVID-19 pandemic; the associated health risks for participants, including students, teachers, officials, family members and friends who may have wished to attend the events; the timeframes to select teams and the logistics of conducting the championships in an uncertain environment. It is our intention to commence the representative school sport pathway at the beginning of the 2021 school year, when all schools, students and families can participate in a safe environment. The Sydney East SSA advises that the following championships will not proceed NSWPSSA Boys Cricket NSWPSSA Girls Cricket NSWPSSA Athletics NSWCHS Boys Cricket NSWCHS Boys Water Polo NSWCHS Girls Water Polo The following Sydney East SSA term 4 trials for 2021 events may be re-scheduled pending advice from NSW Health - Secondary Girls Cricket trials Secondary Girls Softball trials Secondary Boys Softball trials Sydney East Blues Awards A collective decision was made through the School Sport Unit earlier this year that Blues Awards may be presented at NSWCHS and Association levels in 2020. Any Year 12 students that may have met the criteria in 2019 (or 2020 for those sports that did host championships in 2020) will receive their Blues award through their school. No formal Blues Awards presentations will be held at either the NSWCHS or Sydney East levels. In regard to zone and school based sport, current protocols are to remain in place until otherwise advised. We thank you for your understanding during this time.
