15.01.2022 The Sydney Markets Lunar New Year celebrations are set to kick off at 6am tomorrow morning with traditional lion dancing performances and a visit from the God of Fortune! Jin Wu Koon Dragon & Lion Dance Association will make their way through the Markets and will end with a spectacular freestyle pole jumping show at the main gate.

14.01.2022 Sydney Markets celebrated the New Lunar Year with drumming and lion dancing, a tradition known to bring good fortune to businesses. As the lion made its way through the Markets, offerings of lettuce with red envelopes were hung up high for the lion to consume and throw back onto the business owners, blessing them with wealth, prosperity and good luck. The sounds of rhythmic drumming and the noise from crackers are said to ward off evil spirits. ... The festivities concluded with an exhilarating lion dance whereby the lion shows off its acrobatic skills by jumping across a set of poles in search of a flower which is tossed out of its mouth at the end as further indication of the distribution of wealth and prosperity.
