25.01.2022 Good news for Oberon dam

25.01.2022 Latest from the CFA. https://mailchi.mp/viridia/freshwater-fisher_aug_2020

24.01.2022 Members have asked for a place to publish so we now have a private group page to share. Search Sydney Fly Rodders Members, and send a request. https://www.facebook.com/groups/39609626714/

24.01.2022 Some local reports. Members fished Lake St Claire last weekend. Recent wild weather has upset the bass, killing some and putting everything off the bite. Local estuaries are warming up, as is the weather, with reports of bream and mullet. We will soon be starting up our local days out on the water and possibly an early Oct trip to Wallarawang. Stay safe.

23.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all. Hopefully we get multiple hook ups next year. Tight loops. Thanks Muzz for finding this image.

23.01.2022 More good stories from the mountains.

22.01.2022 Please take the opportunity to look at the following link. The sale of public reserves and crown land could affect your fishing access. Please add comments, contact the club or the CFA with your input. https://www.industry.nsw.gov.au//draft-state-strategic-pla

22.01.2022 December we are back to meetings. We are doing a dinner for Christmas and you need to book. Get on the website site for the latest and the link to book your spot.

22.01.2022 A bit of news from the Snowies for our up coming trip.

22.01.2022 If you are heading to Jingara, keep an eye on this advise.

22.01.2022 Its almost Geehi time again. This year we are going to Jindy then Geehi. With events in the north last year, possibly impacting us, we have decided to miss our usual week in Long plain and stay in Jindabyne instead.

21.01.2022 I have just received this thru the CAS. Hi friends and colleagues, For those interested in the current position and challenges faced by our inland fisheries, this is a TED style talk I was privileged to present at CSU a little while back, on a few topics affecting our Inland native fish stocks, and what grass roots rec fishers are doing to help. ... I had an incredible amount of help in getting this presentation together, with special thanks to Dr John Koehn Dr Martin Mallen Cooper Dr Lee Baumgartner Dr Craig Boys Iain Ellis Jerome Stocks Cameron Lay Anthony Townsend Liz Baker Craig Copeland Sam Davis Kind Regards, Matt Hansen Inland Waterways - Ozfish

20.01.2022 The trip to Jingara at Jindabyne is now live and places are available to be booked by clicking the link above, note that this is a members only event. This trip offers us an unforgettable experience to fish in the pristine waters of the spectacular NSW Snowy Mountains. With Australias highest peaks creating a beautiful backdrop, the lakes and rivers of the areas surrounding Jindabyne provide us with great fishing spots that will test our skills. Foremost of these locations i...s the Thredbo River which is home to some of the wildest trout in Australia. Log on to the website to book your spot. The following week we will be camping down at Geehi....where you can find fish like this.

20.01.2022 A couple of photos from last year. Restrictions and renovations at venues are delaying us getting together. Behind the scene work goes on and we are hoping to come out of this as strong as ever with more events and better access to all the club provides. Hoping for your continued support into the new financial year.

20.01.2022 Good to see the support given to strengthen fishing in the region.

19.01.2022 Any comments from club members or others to include in a submission to DPI.

18.01.2022 With a wet summer predicted, conditions look good for stocking our local rivers.

18.01.2022 More news from over the mountains.

17.01.2022 Were going live tonight with our inaugural The Fishing Stream livestreaming event! Tune in for info-packed presentations on snapper tips, gear and research data from our team of DPI and fishing tackle experts. Tune in for details on how to win great prizes on offer!

16.01.2022 Rabbit fur minnows. Brads bunnies as I know them. Brad Alford made these for harbour pelagic years ago.

16.01.2022 Keep in touch in CoVid times. Post a brief fishing report, or just say hi with a comment.

15.01.2022 Reports of good bream showing up on the flats around Sydney. Short strips and a long pause will get the bite. Shrimp flies, small Clousers and crazy Charlies, they love the movement of rabbit or craft fur. There have been some reasonable flatties landed too. As the weather warms it will only get better, so search out some water and give it a go.

14.01.2022 Another fishing survey. Heres Stirlo on the sell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3dFnpMhQRk&feature=youtu.be and the survey here http://www.nationalrecsurvey.com.au Have fun. Enjoy.

14.01.2022 This is whats happening in our dams. Imagine what we could do if our rivers were being looked after and fish like these were swimming around!

13.01.2022 Monday 11th at 7pm log on for the clubs first online meeting. With restrictions easing, small gatherings might be possible soon, but it might be some time until we can hold a regular meeting. On line presentations and the ability to log into meetings are something we are looking to take post restrictions. For log on details check you inbox for flyrodder emails.

13.01.2022 Here is one of my own flies. I wanted a big profile fly that would sit down in the surface film but not sink after a few casts. Easily dried out with a few stiff casts.

13.01.2022 Not an official club trip but a few members are off to St Claire next weekend. (Aug 29/30)Not an official club trip but a few members are off to St Claire next weekend. (Aug 29/30)

10.01.2022 Were getting back into casting practice in small groups. Fly tying is still unavailable due to restrictions and renovations at our venue. Meetings are a little hard to forecast, we could use the venue, but our members might get refused entry if the venue is busy. At this stage our zoom meetings are working well and we have had some great presentations. We hope everyone is staying safe, and we have our November trip to the Snowies coming up. Keep up to date with the Flyrodder or on our members page.

10.01.2022 Something to look forward to. While the rivers have suffered lately, the regions dams are on the rise.

09.01.2022 Getting ready for Geehi on a wet weekend.

09.01.2022 Just found this.

05.01.2022 News from CAS. Disabled fishing access on its way for lake Wallace in the new year. Access work to the millpond, Portland to start in the new year. Tiger trout stocking to take place in the new year, these cross brown and brook trout are fast growing and hard fighting fish, planned to go into TCD and Lake Wallace. Plenty of good rain across the Central West. All the rivers and dams are looking good, and here's hoping that 2021 is....well at least it won't be 2020.

05.01.2022 A special vise for a special customer. Weve been asked for years to make a crank arm like this and finally got the convincing we needed. Once we get some fee...dback well offer it as an accessory. . . . #flyfishing #flytying #machinedinhouse #madeinusa #renzettiinc See more

03.01.2022 FISHING IS STILL PERMITTED Ive received many calls, texts and emails today from locals and people around the State concerned that recreational fishing ...is not allowed - it definitely is! NSW Police have advised recreational fishing is permitted, as long as people follow all other advice in relation to social distancing and gatherings of two or more people. It is vital you follow NSW Health guidelines around social distancing. Detailed advice on social distancing is available at www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19. As well as strictly following social distancing guidelines, all fisheries rules and regulations continue to apply in NSW, including bag and size limits. Please share this to allay peoples concerns.

02.01.2022 An up date on Oberon dam and the work of the CAS.

02.01.2022 The Foundations, Portland NSW will receive funding of $78,418 from the Recreational Fishing Trust which was announced by Minister Adam Marshall MP today. ...With the assistance of the site owners, arrangements have been made to allow fishers access to the Mill Pond, one of the water storages on the site of the old Portland cement quarries. With the assistance of DPI Fisheries, access conditions to ensure public safety have been agreed and the required infrastructure will be made possible with this funding (installation of foot bridges with handrails, fencing and angler access signage). DPI has stocked the Mill Pond with rainbow trout in preparation for its opening to the public and added another 50 of these whopping trout to it today. This project is especially exciting as it represents the addition of an entirely new fishing spot to the local area. The Mill Pond will likely be open early next year and I look forward to returning then to see the licence fees at work and hopefully catch a trout!

01.01.2022 Its almost done for another year...here are some highlights. Its been an interesting time and we were slowly returning to normal and now, well this might be what normal looks like. Our membership has remained strong during this time and our Zoom meetings have bought guest speakers that would normally be hard to access. Club activities have been affected and we are keen to get back to meetings, casting and flytying once its safe to do so. The good news is that there is plent...y of good fishing locally and plenty of species on offer. The club offers a range of social media to keep in touch and an Instagram page is in the making. Also a new Web page is underway with a lot of work put in over the last few months to improve our interaction. Our recent very successful trips to the Snowies was a welcome get away for us and we were hoping to get back there soon. See you next year. See more
