25.01.2022 What is it with the local small businesses that I love so much? They inspire me. These are the guys and girls that grew up as second gen Asian Australians, with immigrant parents in the south west Sydney community, just like I did. They watched as their parents worked hard as hell to give them a better life, just like I did. And here they are now, using every spare moment they have to create something they love and are passionate about. It's so dope watching them grow alongsi...de the community around them! Lita knows a thing or two about doughnuts. She owns @thedoughnutmum . One bite of these soft, fluffy doughnuts and you'll know how much love she puts into getting the doughnut texture and flavours just right. She's come out with these crazy gelato doughnuts in collaboration with another local @articulator , like this brown sugar pearl milk tea gelato doughnut (mind explodes). Soooo yum. Maria @masterbakermaria has been one of my favourite people to get to know last year. She bakes because she loves bringing joy to others with her food, and she does it all in the confines of her small kitchen. I don't know how she does it! She's incredibly passionate and tireless with it all, and naturally her cookies and cheesecakes slap HARD. @cookieboy.cookies has quite possibly the most instagrammable cookies in the south west. He owns a cafe in Livo but creates these masterpieces in his spare time. Just take a moment to gawk at those cross sections .

24.01.2022 Thinking back, it's been cool as hell living in Cabramatta all my life. As I've grown up I've watched the community around me grow too. Cabra has always been a vibrant, bustling place. It's an epicentre full of amazing South-East Asian food, culture and people. I'm glad that over the years, the rest of Sydney has begun to see Cabra through the same lens! This is me in front of one of the new murals outside Cabra plaza. Sick glow up or what? Now we can hope they glow up the am...ount of parking spaces outside Cabra woolies too huehue JUST wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who's been with me for the ride this year. I'm just a Cabra kid with big dreams to do well for the community, travel the world and eat my absolute heart out. And everyday, I meet or talk to a new person I'm thankful for - you guys. Y'all mean the world to me, ph real! With 2021 at our doorstep: If you have a dream, big or small, just get out there and chase it! You won't know til you try #cheese #home #cabplazafoodie

22.01.2022 There's a few restaurants I've walked past countless times and keep telling myself "I'll try that next time". @ Thailand has been of those restaurants for a while! They've had this beautiful dining space near Bankstown station for years. The thing I loved most about @ Thailand was the people. I had an amazing conversation with Cindy, who has worked with the restaurant for almost as long as it has been there, and she told me about how the restaurant staff are like family, and ...the passion they put into serving food that brings a piece of Thailand to Bankstown. I like that! There's nothing like a good Thai-style seafood fried rice or BBQ 'crying tiger' beef (always so tasty), and I've been forever hooked on the combination of sweet, tangy and spiciness that you'll find in a lot of Thai salads like this beef salad 'yum nua'. But my tastebuds absolutely LIT up with one of their specialty dishes 'sweet basil lobster'. It was hokkien noodle, stir-fried with vegetables in this fantastic sweet chilli basil cream sauce, served with juicy pieces of fried lobster on top. Spicy, but freaken delicious! @atthailandrestaurant #invite _ Subscribe to my YouTube Channel so I can bring you on more Sydney food adventures with me! Link in bio

19.01.2022 Whether it be Nepali momos, Japanese gyoza, or Chinese jiaozi and XLB, dumplings are freaken fantastic! In fact, they're one of my favourite foods to eat. I love the feeling of biting through the wrapping and getting that first taste of the steaming pockets of meat and vegetable inside. The Korean version of the dumpling is 'mandoo', and naturally, The Mandoo in Strathfield is the best place to get them. The prawn and pork dumplings here are tasty! That being said, I actually... found more joy in the noodle soups here! (I'm more of a jiaozi and momo guy ). Like many traditional Korean joints, they sell kalguksu noodles, which are knife-cut noodles from handmade dough. The noodles are more soft and wheaty, but very very slurp-able. The spicy seafood noodle soup here has a delicious, deep flavour and they give you crab, mussel, prawn and squid atop your noodles! Talk about value for money. If you can't handle spice, warm yourself up with the beef bone noodle soup instead which has a nice milky consistency to it. _ Subscribe to my YouTube Channel so I can bring you on Sydney food adventures with me! 17.01.2022 It's been way too long since I've eaten good German food! I used to get my fix at an old renovated church in Parramatta which has since closed. I had no idea you could find such a restaurant inside a sports club, but hey, Bankstown Sports is full of surprises. When it comes to German food, think meat (a lot of it!), carbs, and beer. In other words, treat yo-self. We ordered the 'feast platter' and had ourselves a really tasty pork knuckle, schnitzel and kransky/bratwurst saus...ages to share with mash and jus. The pork knuckle was done really well with the crispy crackling skin sheltering some fantastic tender meat. The cheese spaetzle was incredibly tasty as well! It's quite similar to a mac and cheese, served on a hot plate and topped with fried shallots. Try that out with the German pretzel with a spread of pepe saya butter. Only thing missing is a guy busting it out with some live accordion music @bankstownsports #invite
