25.01.2022 Meet Wombat, a gorgeous dingo who will burrow deep into your heart. This chunky little Wombat is great with people, outgoing and adventurous and would suit a household without kids or with kids over 5 years old. Wombat will be around 18-20 kg fully grown and would love a home with a doggy or dingo friend of a similar size or bigger. ... Being a dingo Wombat is not suitable to be let off leash in unfenced areas as he will not come back. Dingoes should be kept on leash outside your yard. Like all dingoes, Wombat has a high prey drive and is not suitable to with cats, pocket pets or birds. Wombat can not live in an apartment. Fencing requirements: Wombat is a high content dingo. A high content dingo typically has two dingo parents or a large amount of dingo genetics. High content dingoes are often known as pure dingoes. High content dingoes have much stricter fencing requirements due to their climbing ability. You will need ONE OR MORE of the follow BEFORE an adoption trial for a high content dingo can begin. - A 2.2m colour-bond or paling fence with nothing leaning against or near the fence line - A 1.8m fence (of any sturdy material) with a 45 degree inward facing over-hang of 60cm to prevent climbing (see here: https://sanctuarysos.com//cat-proof-fence-barrier-to-keep- ). - A dog enclosure at least 1.8m high with either a full roof or 45 degree inward facing over-hang of 60cm to prevent climbing. Must be at least 25m square (for instance 5m x 5m or 8m x 3m) - Mesh, concrete or similar around the base of the fence may also be required Some manufacturers of pre-made dog enclosures include: https://www.spotonpetenclosures.com.au//li/pet-enclosures/ Another option is using construction fencing style panels from Bunnings or weldedmesh sheets and posts. For more information on Wombat, see https://www.savour-life.com.au/adopt-a-d/search-now//23081.

25.01.2022 Would you like to make a donation? Our account details are: Account name: Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue BSB: 012 030 Account number: 267085525... ABOUT US: Sydney Fox Rescue (SFR) is a registered Australian charity and animal advocacy organisation. Since 2012 we have worked tirelessly to rescue, care for, desex and rehome a variety of introduced species with a particular focus on foxes. Unfortunately, as an introduced species in Australia, the welfare of foxes often falls through the cracks. We, as Australians, consistently fail to stand up and take responsibility for animals we brought to this country. Foxes were brought to Australia, through no desire of their own, to be hunted and slaughtered. Its time we move past this archaic attitude and look towards more compassionate conservation methods. 5 Key Points About Our Program: - All of our rescue animals are desexed, microchiped and vaccinated - All our rescue foxes and dingoes are housed in secure outdoor enclosures with the appropriate government permits - We are a registered charity and have rehomed over 300 animals since 2012 (including foxes, dingoes, cats and rabbits). - We believe compassionate, science based conservation means caring about both introduced and native species and we work hard to assist researchers, universities and wildlife organisations with fox samples and data. - We have the support of many wildlife and animal welfare organisations including the Dingo for Biodiversity Project, the Centre for Compassionate Conservation, WIRES Sydney and Wildlife Rescue Inc. In November 2014 the New South Wales Government issued a Pest Control Order (PCO) for European Red Foxes. What the PCO means for foxes: - Rescuing foxes is now illegal - Rehoming foxes is now illegal - Foxes in need are unable to legally access vet care - Transporting foxes (even for veterinary care) is illegal - All foxes who are orphaned and injured are now meant to be euthanised Why SFR opposes the PCO: - Just because something is legal that doesnt make it right - None of our foxes are ever released. Every fox in our care is one less fox in the wild. - The PCO means more orphaned foxes with no adequate system to ensure their welfare. These orphans will be left to starve - Banning the transport of injured foxes to a vet is a form of animal cruelty - Without regulation and an authorised rescue program, illegal fox ownership will become rampant and there is no way to ensure access to vet care and adequate husbandry for these animals. How can you oppose the PCO? Check out our webpage at www.runningoutoftime.com.au

25.01.2022 **PUPPY UPDATE- Good news!!** We just spoke to the amazing team in the Intensive care unit as SASH; Bella is now running around and eating, no longer needs a feeding tube, but is still on fluids. Gig eating a little, still has a feeding tube and fluids. Dot is not interested in food yet, but starting to get up, move around and responded well to the blood transfusion last night. Dot does have an inflamed lymph node that theyve sent a sample from for testing, and they have als...o put all the pups on a new antibiotic in addition to their other medications. It is too soon to be certain, but they do seem to be turning the corner and improving!! We are so so grateful to everyone that has donated so far, weve been able to pay a massive $17,398 of vet bills off so far for our special girls thanks to you our awesome supporters (6798 to Canberra Emergency Vet and the remainder to SASH), the girls vet bill will cost at least another $5K over the next few days at SASH before they are well enough to come home (there is currently $3,500 outstanding). But we know these precious dingoes are worth it. When we take on a rescue dingo, we make a commitment to fight for them no matter what and we are so blessed to have such an incredible community of animal lovers to help us continue the work we do helping these incredible animals. SASH have worked miracles before saving dingo pups from diseases like parvo virus and we are confident they are the absolute best chance these girls have- even just over the past 24 hours they have gone from deaths door to eating again thanks to these amazing vets and nurses. If youre able to help us out with donations for the vet bill you can donate directly to us at the following. Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue account: Bank: ANZ Account name: Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue BSB: 012 030 Account number: 267085525 Or PayPal: [email protected] (hopefully one of the lovely nurses will send us some more photos of the girls later today as were not currently able to visit)

24.01.2022 About to drive our three unwell dingo puppies Bella, Dot and Gig from the Canberra Veterinary Emergency Clinic to Sydney to the Small Animal Specialist Hospital to be admitted to the ICU as they have gone down hill overnight and the prognosis is very poor.. just when things were starting to look up yesterday for two of them, they have really crashed overnight and their protein levels are dangerously low.

24.01.2022 Introducing Ned Kelly. A very handsome dingo, and a very good boy. Ned (Ned Kelly that is!) is great with people, outgoing and adventurous and would suit a household without kids or with kids over 5 years old. Ned will be around 18-20 kg fully grown and would love a home with a doggy or dingo friend of a similar size or bigger. Ideally, we'd love to see Ned find a home with his sister Dani - a wonderful dingo who can be seen here https://www.savour-life.com.au/adopt-a-d/sear...ch-now//23085). Ned is an energetic pup and would love an active family who like bushwalks and the outdoors. Ned walks well on leash, and is good in the car. Did we mention he is a very good boy (some things are worth repeating). Being a dingo Ned is not suitable to be let off leash in unfenced areas as he will not come ,back. Dingoes should be kept on leash outside your yard. Like all dingoes, Ned has a high prey drive and is not suitable to with cats, pocket pets or birds. Ned can not live in an apartment. 21.01.2022 With everything going on this week we forgot to introduce you to our newest little rescue pups, with a huge thanks to everyone who made pledges wed like to introduce Sylvie and Lesley!! These youngsters from Taree and Newcastle respectively were both found in different areas of bushland near agricultural properties after baiting/"pest eradication" took place in the area leaving them alone in the world after their parents were likely poisoned. They are roughly 8 weeks and 9 w...eeks old. Slyvie is very outgoing and cheeky, always up to mischief. Les is much quieter and more reserved but gradually coming out of his shell. Both pups are healthy and safe at the sanctuary (photos taken at lovely volunteer transporter Vanessas place during their trip down). Note: There is a 3rd pup Ernie still on his way to our sanctuary who was also included in our pledge drive.

21.01.2022 Bella, Dot and Gig are home now. Although they are still not 100%, they are improving slowly every day. 21.01.2022 **URGENT VET BILL FUNDS NEEDED** Three of our beautiful dingo puppies have fallen ill with a Coccidia Infection. Coccidia is a gastro intestinal parasite that causes severe vomiting and diarrhoea. After being treated at our regular vet all week (Fairfield rd veterinary hospital) with fluids and baycox, they were rushed to Canberra veterinary emergency services last night. They are now on fluids with glucose and have been started on anti-nausea medication for the vomiting and ...antibiotics for a suspected secondary infection. They will be monitored overnight to make sure they are improving. The vet bill is now over $2000. We need your assistance now more than ever in assuring the health of our precious baby girls. You can either donate directly to us or you can phone the vet to make a donation toward our bill. 20.01.2022 In the past 24 hours we have been asked to help not 1, not 2 but 3 orphan dingo pups. With 16 rescue orphans already in care (as well as 38 adults) we need your help with pledges to make these rescues possible. If you can pledge to help these pups comment below. To cover transport, vaccinations, desexing and microchipping we are hoping to raise $430/pup; Desexing $180, 2 x vaccinations c3 & c7 $150, microchip $50, transport $50 (one pup has kindly been chipped and vaccinated... by the person who found her). All 3 of these pups were found in different areas of NSW (Northern Rivers, Mid-North Coast, East Coast) after poison baits had been laid in the local region/neighbouring properties, its likely their parents were killed by 1080 poison baits. These pups are older and more timid than some of our younger rescue pups and will likely be at the sanctuary for much longer before they are ready to go to experienced, knowledgable homes with dingo experience. This means taking them on is a considerable investment for our rescue and we want to be able to provide them with the best care possible. Pledges can be paid with in the next week to: Bank: ANZ Account name: Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue BSB: 012 030 Account number: 267085525 Note: This is the first time weve asked for pledges, its not our usual strategy as we think its important to budget and engage in consistent planned fundraising through out the year, however the past 2 months have been absolutely unprecedented for our rescue with more requests to help orphan dingo pups than any puppy season before. We believe this is a result of the 2019/2020 bushfires leading to habitat loss, less food and increased baiting efforts by authorities and landholders. We want to continue to help dingoes in need like these pups, there are very few rescue equip to help these incredible animals, but to keep rescuing we need your help and support to ensure we have adequate resources.

We are looking for new volunteers who can make a monthly commitment to help out at our shelter, now located 40min from GOULBURN or 60min from CANBERRA (in the Tarago/Bungendore area). We can accept volunteers from Picton/Tahmor/Camden if you are willing to make the 2 hour drive at least once a month. Email: [email protected] for more information

14.01.2022 In addition to our emergency Online Art Auction this weekend we will be attending the Vegan State of Mind event this Sunday in CANBERRA. We will be selling cupcakes and scrolls in order to raise much needed funds for 3 very sick dingo puppies we currently have in care. You can pre-order boxes of treats before the day for quick service and to guarantee you score some goodies! They will be $20 for 6 scrolls and $30 for 6 big cupcakes! The puppies have been receiving treatment ...for over 2 weeks now and have been transferred to SASH in Sydney. Theyre suffering from Coccidia as well as secondary infections and our little Dot has had to undergo a blood transfusion to try and save her life! For just their stay at SASH alone we are looking at a $15000-$21000 vet bill just as an estimate. We firmly believe that when you take on responsibility for another life you should stop at nothing to give them every chance and we will do everything we can to save these precious lives! Either dm us your orders or email [email protected]

13.01.2022 **URGENT VET BILL FUNDS NEEDED** Update: this morning Charlie and Kate from our committee went to visit our special sick pups at the emergency vets. There were some very quiet tail wags and licks. One of the pups (Gig) has improved significantly and is more active today, Bella is much the same, very flat and still on fluids and multiple antibiotics, sadly Dot is very unwell and while her condition is stable, its possibly if her protein levels decline any further she will nee...d a blood transfusion. All 3 pups now have gastric nasal tubes for feeding. Background: Three of our beautiful dingo puppies have fallen ill with a Coccidia Infection. With your help weve been able to offer the best care to our 3 sick pups, who are now slowly recovering at home. 12.01.2022 *PUPPY UPDATE* We have had a small glimmer of good news from the vets this morning. Bella has improved so much that they have moved her to the general hospital and out of the ICU! Unfortunately Gig has been vomiting a bit this morning, but her blood glucose and proteins are pretty stable. Still, neither her nor Dot are eating on their own but they are swallowing food when being syringed and trying to move around a bit more.... The vet thinks that if they remain stable Gig and Dot might also be able to be moved from the ICU to the general hospital. We want this to happen, as we believe that the girls do better when theyre together. If they crash again they can pretty easily be moved back to ICU. At this point in time we still have $5,400 outstanding on our vet bills. We cannot thank you all enough for your donations, support and well wishes. This horrible journey isnt over yet but the burden is being lightened so much because of you If you are able to contribute towards the vet work for our girls our details are: Bank: ANZ Account name: Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue BSB: 012 030 Account number: 267085525 Or PayPal: [email protected]

12.01.2022 Introducing handsome Harvey - an attractive alpine dingo and total people person! "I am a 1 year old alpine dingo and a big puppy, silly, full of confidence and affection for anyone and everyone. I'm more outgoing than many dingoes, and I love other large and medium dogs. "I'm very playful and I love to run and jump and climb, so a big yard with lots for me to do is a must (maybe even some kids to romp around with!) ... ""I love to play tug of war and chase after a frisbee (though I don't usually bring it back!) and will do anything for a liver treat. I'm starting to learn basic obedience but would benefit a lot from some time at puppy school and patient, reward-based training. ""I love to go for long walks and I'd be a great jogging partner or I could even run next to your bike. Keep in mind being a dingo, it's best I stay on a leash when outside of the backyard as I don't always come back when called since I'm very independent. "I love other dogs, but more than anything I love humans, so a family home that wants a dog they can take on picnics, to the beach or on camping trips and other would be perfect, I'm good in the car and love adventures." Harvey will not be suitable for homes with small dogs, cats, birds or pocket pets please. FENCING: Harvey requires secure 2.2m sheer fencing such as colourbond or a secure dog enclosure with a roof. Alternative 1.8m fencing with an inward-facing return of 70cm at a 45 degree angle is also great. Ask Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue for more info on dingo proofing your fencing! We're here to help. For more information on Harvey, please see: https://www.savour-life.com.au/adopt-a-d/search-now//20702

09.01.2022 **PUPPY UPDATE** Charlie went to visit the little ones this evening and we wanted to keep you up to date One of the pups, Gig, has begun eating a little on her own. But all three are still on fluids and also being fed by nasogastric tubes. Bella is also improving slightly but still has very low protein and is not eating on her own yet. Dot is the most unwell and if possible she still may need a blood transfusion if she continues to decline. The vet costs have gotten over $6,0...00 and were not out of the woods yet. Theyre providing around the clock care and were cant sing their praises enough. And of course, thank you to you all for your donations and well wishes. 04.01.2022 **URGENT DONATIONS NEEDED** 15K vet bill estimate. We are currently rushing our 3 sick dingo pups Gig, Bella and Dot from the emergency vets in Canberra to SASH (The Small Animal Specialist Hospital) in Sydney so they can be admitted to the ICU and receive hopefully life-saving treatments like plasma transfusions and oxygen. They pups protein levels dropped dangerously low overnight and this is their last chance to pull through so we are pulling out all the stops and trying ...every option to help them survive. So far thanks to your incredible donations weve been able to cover $5,300 of our $6467 at the Canberra Emergency Veterinary Service, however to be admitted to SASH for care in the ICU the estimate weve been given is $5-7k per puppy for the next 4-5 days of intensive care. We will have to pay at least 50% upfront in a couple of hours time. Our own committee and volunteers are digging deep to try and find the funds to save our girls but we really need everyones help. When we take on a dingo we make a commitment to do everything within our power to care for that animal no matter the financial and emotional cost, for the rest of their lives (yes even after they find a home- we are always there to help in anyway we can). We made a commitment to Gig, Bella and Dot and so we must keep fighting for them. We have got them this far and we are determined to keep trying. SASH have worked miracles before saving dingo pups from diseases like Parvo virus and we are confident they are the absolute best chance these girls have. 03.01.2022 Adorable dingo puppies, Taz and Wombat are in need of sponsors! With 18 rescue orphans in care right now, sponsorship is crucial to keeping our rescue running. Click here to sign up to support our dingoes https://app.moonclerk.com/pay/6m9tqfe30hb These two sweet boys were found in Northern NSW, orphaned in an area of thick bush. It took several days for a dedicated wildlife carer to catch them both, after locals heard them desperately crying. When Taz and Wombat were found, ...they were covered in ticks and very underweight. Since they arrived at the Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue three weeks ago, theyve doubled in size and are doing super well! Tazs name represents his fierce rambunctious nature as well as the fact that he is the same colour as a Tassie Devil. Wombat is a sweet and cheeky boy who loves toys and treats, hes headstrong and bold just like a wombat! For $40 a month, you can help give these beautiful boys the best chance at life possible. The Sydney Fox and Dingo Rescue is run only by diligent volunteers and relies heavily on the Sponsorship Program to provide all our four-legged dependants with the best care possible. By becoming Taz or Wombats special person, you are helping give them all the care they need. If you are interested in becoming one of their sponsors, you can sign up now via our sponsorship form here: https://app.moonclerk.com/pay/6m9tqfe30hbt or message us for more information.

03.01.2022 Hey fox lovers, its Foxy Fact Friday! Fennec foxes are native to desert landscapes and are well adapted to the low availability of water in their home habitat. Their kidneys are structured to prevent excess water loss, and their extensive burrowing can cause dew formation, which can then be consumed. A fennec fox with a small burrow its dug.
