11.01.2022 Dear Matsuri Japan Festival participants, Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, please kindly be advised that we’ve made the most difficult decision to cancel Matsuri Japan Festival (Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour) this year as well as the Matsuri Japan Festival in Parramatta and Chatswood organised by the Japan Club of Sydney Inc. With the COVID-19 crisis still having a huge impact on our society and economy, it is difficult to predict how far we are from the end of t...he pandemic. It is also expected that international borders would not fully reopen until at least next year. Even if there is a significant ease in travel restrictions, numerous obstacles need to be overcome in order for people to safely travel such as crowd control, food hygiene and safety requirements, all of which would need to comply to COVID-19 prevention measures. Unfortunately, due to all the unknown variables, organising an event of this scale while considering the situations in both Japan and Australia are beyond our capabilities. Therefore, we have decided that we are unable to hold the event in the traditional way. While we know this is disappointing, we hope you could kindly understand the steps we’re taking to help keep the public/community safe. We really appreciate your continuous support towards Matsuri Japan Festival and look forward to enjoying the Japanese culture with you. We sincerely pray for your health and safety.
