23.01.2022 The NSW Government has recently announced that the threshold above which stamp duty is charged on new homes for first home buyers will increase from the current $650,000 to $800,000, with the concession reducing on higher values before phasing out at $1 million. The stamp duty threshold on vacant land will also rise from $350,000 to $400,000 and will phase out at $500,000. This new threshold will only apply to newly-built homes and vacant land, not to existing homes. It will ...be in place for 12 months and will apply to contracts executed from 1 August 2020 to 31 July 2021. If you are looking to purchase a new home or vacant land, contact Sydney Lawyers and Associates Pty Ltd today on (02) 8843 1343, for an obligation free quote.

08.01.2022 The Family Law Act states that de facto relationships can exist regardless of whether that relationship is of the same sex or different sex, and whether or not one of the party is legally married to someone else or is in another de facto relationship. This means if your relationship ends and you have shared assets, you have the same legal rights and obligations as any other de facto relationship. If your same sex relationship has ended and you would like to know more, please speak to our Family Law Solicitors about any property or financial settlements or court orders you think may be necessary.
