25.01.2022 Civil marriage ceremonies are sometimes followed by church blessings or celebrations and so it was last week. As part of the couples celebration I joined them the next day at their church for a huge Samoan community celebration, it was fantastic! The voices were glorious as everyone sang in Samoan and such a wonderful sight with everyone dressed in white (except me -ooops - no-one gave me the dress code!). Such a happy day!

24.01.2022 Weddings that make the news; today received a wonderful surprise with the delivery of the magazine "Resident" which is a Lifestyle magazine for the Northern Territory. A teaser caption on the front cover "You said yes and we got married ! ". And opening up were 5 pages celebrating Mark & Tims (the publishers of the magazine) wedding. Five months later I still smile when I think of the wonderful celebration their marriage was and how much joy surrounded them - it seemed the whole of Darwin lit up for them!

24.01.2022 Jacaranda trees bursting into colour herald the beginning of the busy November wedding season in Sydney.Theres something wonderfully, wildly romantic at play it seems when the purple petals cover paths and parks and compete with the blue skies announcing summer is on its way.

24.01.2022 Spring in Sydney; weddings celebrated by the harbour, under blue skies & sunshine. This morning Bradleys Head was the perfect setting offering such iconic views for this very happy couple. And even the local bird life joined in.

23.01.2022 Wedding flowers add so much to the beauty of the ceremony ; the choice of colours and the fragrance that fills the space are important elements in creating a very special and memorable day. At todays wedding the flowers were glorious. Beautiful!

23.01.2022 A gloriously hot summers day greeted this lovely couple from the Czech Republic who travelled to Australia to marry today on Maroubra Beach - a dream fulfilled !

22.01.2022 Friday afternoon weddings; a perfect chance to create a long weekend and get away and celebrate with friends. On a wonderfully warm Spring Friday, framed by Norfolk Pine Trees, the surf beyond and sand in our shoes, the happiest of marriage ceremonies took place of a mum and dad with baby daughter (the cutest & sweetest tiny flower girl).

22.01.2022 There are so many choices when you are looking to marry on Sydney Harbour and one very special vessel that offers a casual, informal and very historic setting is the Sydney Heritage Fleets Steam Tug "Waratah". And it was the perfect venue for a recent marriage ceremony I conducted. The crew were fabulous and we stopped in Farm Cove with the Opera House in the background. The Waratah is a coal fired tug and was built at Cockatoo Island, Sydney. She was launched on the 21st May 1902.and after restoration is fully operational and regularly takes passengers on trips around Sydney Harbour. The Waratahs authentic restoration has gained the Fleet world-wide recognition for historic ship preservation. A perfect venue for a couple looking to surprise their guests with something different!

22.01.2022 Pets at weddings; a story in the Sunday paper today caught my attention and reminded me of the many marriage ceremonies I have conducted for couples who have wished for their pets to be present. And while sometimes because of location it has not been possible they have thought of ingenious ways to have their furry friends represented. It always brings a smile; for after all weddings are about celebrating love, family and friendship and pets play a very important role in many couples lives.

22.01.2022 Wedding photographic shoots can call up lots of surprises, and nature and wild life some times take centre stage; none more so than in this story I found online! http://www.dailymail.co.uk//Couples-wedding-photos-interru

21.01.2022 Weddings and family are always so special; the bride and grooms' little boy enjoyed the day and also joining us late afternoon in a very quiet ceremony on the beach was the bride's sister and her husband who I married a year ago. Meeting up with all the family again - extra special!

20.01.2022 I had the absolute pleasure of recently going to Melbourne to officiate the marriage of Kerr Kay and Ming. They had chosen the most beautiful venue at Yarra Ranges Estate. It truly was the most romantic occasion with so many memorable moments. Kerr Kay and Ming chose such special words to tell their love story and made very precious and personal vows to one another. I was also able to stay for the reception and there was so much love, fun and laughter: a very special celebration of family! Tonight Kerr Kay posted a lovely note of appreciation.

19.01.2022 An absolute joy to share such a special moment in Mark and Tim's lives

18.01.2022 Brave celebrant! I enjoy outdoor weddings at parks and beaches but definitely with my feet firmly on the ground.

18.01.2022 Wedding table place cards are a fabulous way to personalise a very special occasion and I have seen some wonderful examples. None more so than a couple I married recently, they decided to feature their proposal photo. It wasnt just any proposal the groom had surprised his girlfriend (now bride) with a trip to New York and managed to join a Valentines Day promotion that featured the proposal on the billboard overlooking Times Square. The photo was a feature of their wedding invitation and also on the back of every place card at the reception - keeping the magic and romance alive!

18.01.2022 Hopes have been expressed by some same sex couples planning Christmas and New Year weddings BUT something that has not been made clear is that any couple MUST give one months notice - its all about the lodgement with your celebrant of the "Notice of Intended Marriage" and this cant be done until the law is passed and made effective - article on ABC explains the process and is good reading for eager to be married couples http://www.abc.net.au//same-sex-marriage-when-will/9156984 Theres nothing stopping you from booking a celebrant right now if theyre cool with it - I AM - (and available!) and inviting people to your wedding.

17.01.2022 July winter wedding; sun shining brightly on iconic Sydney Harbour views framed by flowers. The chill in the air did nothing to cool the warmth of this mornings delightful marriage ceremony. The bridegroom had written the most amazing reading to be read by a friend; a quirky story of meeting the perfect partner which brought many nods of recognition and much laughter. I love it when couples get fully involved with me in creating their own personal ceremony.

16.01.2022 Centennial Park offers some fabulous locations, beautiful gardens, huge old shady trees, expansive lawns, a pine grove and lovely lakes. Last weeks wedding was at One More Shot Pond - this tiny pond is fringed with willow trees . It gets its name from one of the 31 statues that were once located throughout the park a larger than life hunter with a dog at his heels. The statue was entitled One More Shot and was added to the Park in the 1890s,

15.01.2022 An absolutely beautiful ceremony on Easter Saturday in a perfect Sydney Harbour setting, captured superbly by Gold Hat Photography

15.01.2022 Equality in Marriage. A beautiful sunny day in Sydney and the people have voted. YES. Attorney-General George Brandis spoke about the result in the Senate. He said the result "gladdens me greatly".... "This is an important day in Australias history. It is an important day for the history of human rights in Australia." "Finally, finally, we strike down this barrier of discrimination." Senator Brandis cannot guarantee if people will be able to get married before Christmas but he wants the legislation passed as soon as possible. Remember - if the legislation is passed in the next sitting fortnight of Parliament the date of effect might not be immediate."

15.01.2022 A lovely surprise while visiting MONA in Hobart was to see in this stunning location the longest table set up for a wedding reception - glorious flowers & tableware under imposing sandstone walls

14.01.2022 An autumn wedding; perfectly timed before sunset with an awesome view of Balmoral Beach from the terrace at Bathers Pavilion. So great to catch up with Tom Jennings who during todays ceremony captured the moment with songs from Leonard Cohen, Vance Joy and The Beatles. Great choice to have the ceremony finish with "Here comes the Sun".

13.01.2022 A gloriously hot summer's day greeted this lovely couple from the Czech Republic who travelled to Australia to marry today on Maroubra Beach - a dream fulfilled !

13.01.2022 Wedding flowers; spring offers such an amazing choice with an abundance of fresh, beautiful flowers. From elaborate displays to simple bouquets. The flowers for the wedding yesterday at Gunners Barracks were simply stunning (& gloriously fragrant too!).

12.01.2022 Its so important to make sure you have a photographer who captures all the special moments, is unobtrusive and there with you all the way. Joseph Sarkodie who was the photographer at the wedding held at One More Shot Pond (he had been referred by one of the brides friends) sent me a link and I was thrilled to see he had taken so many great shots on what was a really happy and beautiful day - Im sharing just some of his photos now.

12.01.2022 Marriage for all loving couples became a reality today. For so many years (since 2004) the very discriminating "Monitum" was required by Law to be said at all civil marriage ceremonies "Marriage is the union of a man and a woman" and as of today is replaced by "Marriage is the union of two people". Over the years many couples had me say "while I am required by Law to say these words, bride and groom look forward to the day when the Law will be changed and marriage can be embraced by all loving couples" ....... well that day has come.

11.01.2022 Celebrating equality in marriage has been a highlight of this year and in January I was asked to go to Darwin to conduct the marriage ceremony for 2 friends who had been together 28 years. They were surprising their friends with a party (a birthday party for Tim that with careful coordination and planning was to evolve into a wedding). Very few were in on the secret. While this link is long (19 mins) I think, it captures the joy of the occasion. Enjoy - Video Link https://youtu.be/Ss_o-eU6R-U

11.01.2022 Interfaith and multicultural weddings are popular in Australia and it is so interesting to see the many different celebrations that couples choose. When travelling too I am always keen to see how marriage is celebrated in the countries I visit and on a recent trip to Japan I was so lucky to come across ceremonies taking place in a couple of shrines I visited and see bridal photos being taken in the beautiful parks

11.01.2022 Wedding days and making every moment count! So much time and emotion goes into planning your very special day and youll want to make the most of every minute. It seems that 10 years ago late brides were many but not any more; with careful planning, respect for guests and most importantly looking after the feelings of who is at the end of the altar, now weddings almost always start on time. Minutes before the bride is about to arrive , Ill see the groom looking at his watch and pacing a little so I often ask "have you got butterflies" and the answer is always "YES!" so Ill say "well keep them flying in formation, focus on them going in the same direction" and immediately with a smile, a deep breath, nerves settle and its time for the ceremony to begin.

10.01.2022 Weddings are about family; the formalisation of a new family and the bringing together of the couples families. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching a programme on SBS which celebrates the diversity of love, culture, religion and family https://www.sbs.com.au/ond/program/marry-me-marry-my-family

10.01.2022 Living and loving in crazy times! With many weddings postponed theres a glimmer of hope appearing and confirmation that smaller marriage ceremonies can now take place. So if you just dont want to wait (other than the month required by law to lodge the Notice of Intended Marriage with your celebrant) and have close friends and family youd like to celebrate your very special day with, this is the latest news from the Australian Government for NSW In addition to the coupl...e, the people conducting or assisting in the conduct of the wedding, a photographer, videographer, and up to 10 guests may attend a wedding People attending will be required to provide their name and contact details, so that they can be used for contact tracing if needed. Stay well, stay safe, keep the love and stay sane! See more

10.01.2022 Sydney Harbour for weddings; its Springtime in Sydney and today the harbour was sparkling. Beautiful. As I lunched at Catalinas a photo shoot was happening under a floral arch on a wharf at Rose Bay. A perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of a lovely day and be excited about the many weddings that Spring and Summer bring .

10.01.2022 Emma and Jonathan are such an amazing couple; they wrote the sweetest words of appreciation after the ceremony "It was the most amazing day of our lives. We feel so blessed to have the family and friends that we do, and that they were able to celebrate the day with us (some travelling from three different continents) made it even more special. It was such a fun day, which was exactly what we wanted - we really could not have asked for more. Thank you for being our celebrant, ...you were wonderful on the day and it was a pleasure working with you during the planning. We are both very grateful to you for welcoming us into your home and for spending the time that you did to ensure all of the administration, ceremony proceedings and details (lots of details) all went smoothly....it made such a difference, thank you for your guidance." It was an absolute pleasure to be their celebrant. See more

09.01.2022 Weddings and family are always so special; the bride and grooms little boy enjoyed the day and also joining us late afternoon in a very quiet ceremony on the beach was the brides sister and her husband who I married a year ago. Meeting up with all the family again - extra special!

08.01.2022 An absolute joy to share such a special moment in Mark and Tims lives

07.01.2022 My balcony (especially on a sunny day) is the perfect setting for home registry-style weddings. With just the couple and two witnesses it can be a very special and intimate celebration. And so it was this morning when the sun shone, I asked two friends to fill in and be witnesses as Kevin and Quynh (both who had flown in from overseas) were married - beautiful!

02.01.2022 Wedding photos are so important; they capture and record forever the beautiful moments of such a special day. On this wedding day it seems everything was perfect until an idea to get the perfect unique shot was interrupted! Amazingly the photographer kept a steady hand !!! Definitely a very different moment to remember.

01.01.2022 Weddings are universally happy occasions and while on holiday in Dublin Ireland, my attention was drawn to a bridal party leaving a theatre having just celebrated their marriage and on their way to have their photos taken by the river running through the city centre. i congratulated the very happy couple and they told me that an Australian born celebrant had solemnised their marriage - its a small world!

01.01.2022 Perfect Autumn wedding morning for a small and personal ceremony at Chiswick Gardens. Beautiful touches of balloons and hearts thoughtfully and prettily placed transformed the garden into a very special romantic space.

01.01.2022 A wonderful celebration "Love is Love" for Timothy J Palmer and Mark of Darwin - so special, together 28 years, absolutely joyous - was fantastic and my pleasure to officiate!
