04.01.2022 Happy Thanksgiving

03.01.2022 I am seriously thinking of selling my tri and getting a cat. Then I saw this baby for sale and it was like a magnet to me. I had to slap myself to remind me that I am looking to reduce sailing horse power, not increase it. This baby has nothing in it and would really boogie.

03.01.2022 Last night this cat somehow broke loose and after dark I just happened to be on deck having a last look at our surroundings before bed, to notice it 50m off my... bow drifting toward us. 40m of chain out meant having to go towards it to pick up and get out of the way. Fortunately some Pinoy boat captains had gotten aboard and set 2 anchors before it could hit us. Very happy to see it towed out of the area this morning. So I was aboard this boat yesterday encouraging what could be salvaged before they tried to drag it off the beach. Solar panels, electronics, etc. I was told most of this didn't work before the wreck. But standing inside this yacht. Waist deep in water. With every wave swells of water boiling around you and upwelling through the hole in the bottom in broad daylight was unnerving! Imaging being in this boat at sea and in the dark!! Absolute nightmare. I've always heard that cats don't sink. Seeing this for yourself and standing inside is a different story. The barrels are doing little to keep this cat afloat. There is a survivable space inside this cat. I was impressed. Forced me to reconsider! Where are my waterproof dive lights? Do I have enough of them? Can I get to them when the interior is a stew of floating debris? How many nights could I have light? Could I keep batteries dry? What would I need in this situation? I suspect none of us are as prepared as we think we are when the boat is half full of water. It's worth imagining the worst case scenario. Decidedly NOT fun to do so.
