23.01.2022 Fantastic article about our ride a few weeks ago raising money for the orphans and refugees in Syria during their harsh winter. Thank you Bev J Liu for putting this together. Note:- This ride took place when government restrictions were gatherings at 500 outdoors and 100 indoors allowed. https://centralnews.com.au//cycling-for-syria-money-neede/

23.01.2022 Great weekend of cycling as SMC had rides on both Saturday and Sunday following the cancellation of one of our favourite events the Tumut Cycle Classic. Sunday saw SMC ride to the picturesque Maroubra beach then LaPerouse before returning following their obligatory mid ride coffee. Saturday SMC eased into the weekend with a casual cruise to Brighton Le Sands and enjoyed breakfast following the ride.

22.01.2022 Sydney Muslim Cyclists are riding to Wollongong on behalf of Human Appeal International - Australia this weekend to raise funds for refugees in Syria affected by recent conflict. Please spare $20 or what you can to support this cause, any donation no matter how small won’t change your world too much but it will impact on theirs! Go on do your bit! Make a change, it’s in your grasp, we all know the Hadith that charity does NOT decrease wealth https://www.humanappeal.org.au/campaigns/syrian-refugees/

21.01.2022 Absolutely stunning day for SMC’s Wollongong Ride raising money for Syrian orphans and refugees. The morning started with temperature checks and ensuring no riders have been overseas in the past 14 days nor any flu-like symptoms or coughing. Morning prayer was performed straight after as SMC headed through Alfords Pt, Bangor Bypass to Waterfall and then the pristine Royal National Park. A short break was had at Bald Hill before we made our way to Bellambi Drive Thru Pharmacy ...to meet its owner who was kind enough to pledge a sizeable donation for our cause. Arriving at Wollongong we enjoyed lunch and sweets while soaking in the waves to cool down after some challenging hills. Sadly the post-ride BBQ hosting the local Syrian refugee community was cancelled due the current coronavirus pandemic. Nonetheless, an important cause for those in dire need. If you would like to make any donation please click on the link below. No amount is too small SMC Members and Bevin Liu https://www.humanappeal.org.au/campaigns/syrian-refugees/

20.01.2022 SMC are extremely happy that our $10,000 raised for those going through poverty has been immediately used to feed struggling families in Lebanon. A big thank you to everyone who donated and involved and a big thank you to our major sponsors Human Appeal Australia who are live delivering food packs now

14.01.2022 SMC are proud partners and sponsors of the Tumut Cycle Classic. SMC are happy to have helped raise $20,000 which will be handed to the Tumut Hospital this Thursday. This comes off the back of $8,000 worth of medical aid donated to the Tumut RFS following this years devastating bush fires and SMC helping with the $10,000 cheque also handed to the Tumut RFS in January this year following the bushfires and cancellation of the Tumut Classic event.

14.01.2022 Friday night was SMC’s AGM held at the beautiful Eighteen 22 cafe where it was nice seeing our cycling members outside of their lycra and helmets. A beautiful night of banter and trading stories and we congratulate the executive committee on their respective positions. Looking forward to hitting the road on two wheels

11.01.2022 SMC would like to thank the LMA for once again allowing us to borrow their community bus for our upcoming charity cycling to help clothe the orphans

10.01.2022 SMC would like to thank all the firefighting services, SES and volunteers combatting the fires. 10.01.2022 Cracking Sunday as SMC had 3 rides planned this morning. First ride was a 100km Preston to Nattai ride taking in the grueling 30km hill to the Pristine view at Burragorang Lookout. The second ride planned was a 70km Lakemba to Cape Solander ride also enjoying the gorgeous view over the ocean. The third ride was a North Cronulla to Cape Solander ride which also soaked in the gorgeous view but less kilometers. This ride comes in as preparation for SMC’s annual charity ride happening in March.

10.01.2022 SMC will cycle 100km from Sydney to Wollongong in November to raise $10,000 for those going through poverty in Lebanon. 09.01.2022 Historic day for SMC as today SMC delivered approximately $8,000 worth of medical supplies to the firefighters (Tumut RFS) to help the firefighters when they are on active duty. SMC was also present for the $10,000 cheque handover from Tumut Cycle Classic to the Tumut RFS as SMC are proud sponsors of the Tumut Cycle Classic.

08.01.2022 SMC would like to inform that we have now suspended all SMC group rides due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This action is in line with the federal governments new stance as well as the stance from Bicycle NSW and Cycling NSW. SMC still encourages solo riding as well as riding with immediate family under the same household and virtual cycling. SMC encourages everyone to adopt all the safe hygiene practices and to stay safe. Elissa Bond

08.01.2022 SMC are honoured to have been mentioned in the federal parliament (5:08) for our donation to the firefighters among other fabulous community organizations by our local federal MP Hon. Tony Burke MP

08.01.2022 Last week SMC trekked out to the pristine Royal National Park heading out to Stanwell Tops for some friendly punishment. A second group cycled around Sydney Olympic Park while a third cycled to old time favourite Brighton. A big thanks to all the fire fighters during this tough time

07.01.2022 SMC are cycling tomorrow to Wollongong to raise much needed funds for the worst affected in the orphans of war torn Syria. Thank you Steve Dabliz for highlighting our cause and your ever so kind and eloquent words

07.01.2022 Sadly a couple of weeks ago one of our members crashed off his bike and sustained some injuries. Last week SMC banded together and paid him a visit over some fruit and delicious Lebanese sweets. We hope you get well soon Saif
