22.01.2022 Musculoskeletal pain doesnt have to be apart of your daily life. Osteopaths can help reduce or even stop pain and discomfort by using a combination of exercise prescription, movement and lifestyle advice, dry needing and hands-on treatment techniques like massage, stretching, mobilisation and/or manipulation.

21.01.2022 A dietitian can help tweak your diet where necessary to get more of certain nutrients or to help avoid foods and drinks that may impact your health in a negative way. 20.01.2022 Good morning! Here’s a quick little TED-Ed video explaining how muscles work and grow . . Taking care of your muscles is important for bone health, reducing injury, increasing your metabolism and reducing your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease). ... . Staying home likely means that you’re not getting the incidental exercise you would normally get by commuting to work, school or other places; so it’s important to allocate some time to exercise every day. . For most people, two sessions of strength training per week is recommended on top of other daily exercise. . Add some protein in the mix at meal times and you’ve got the building blocks to grow or maintain your muscles during lockdown and beyond! . The information in this video is general. Please speak to a health professional for individualised advice.

19.01.2022 No! Gap! Payments! We understand that sometimes our health takes a back seat because money might need to be spent elsewhere (school, food, sports, medications, bills etc). Thats why we dont charge our patients (who have a valid CDM plan and referral from their GP for a chronic health condition). The session is completely covered by Medicare. To book your appointment, give us a call on 0476 919 312 or head to our website to book online: https://sydneyroadosteopathyanddietetics.com.au/contact-us

19.01.2022 In light of the latest COVID-19 restrictions, we want to let you know that osteopathy is still available in our clinic unless otherwise advised by the State Government. You are welcome to come into the clinic for osteopathy care as normal. . All dietitian consultations will be held via Telehealth (phone/video calls) to reduce the amount of people inside the clinic. ... . We want to stress how important it is to reschedule your appointment, stay home and call your doctor if you are experiencing any of the below symptoms associated with the virus: - fever - flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue - shortness of breath . Furthermore, if you are immunocompromised, pregnant, have a pre-existing medical condition (like heart and lung disease), are over 65 years old or have been in contact with a person with the virus, we recommend you do not come into the clinic at this time. We would love to see you again when its safe for you to do so! . Lastly, if you need any support or advice about where to get help and/or food/supplies, please get in touch with us. We will do whatever we can to help our much loved community!

19.01.2022 It’s a great day to go outside and get in your daily exercise! Here’s a great article about exercising during Stage 4. Department of Health guidelines suggests at minimum 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week for adults, with 60 minutes a day for those under 18 years of age. This can take the form of anything from brisk walking, cycling to jogging. On top of this at least 2 sessions of strength training are recommended per week. With gyms closed, these are... easier to do within your home, either indoors or an outside space, like the garden, patio, or balcony. Even if you aren’t doing vigorous exercise, I would encourage everybody to get outside and use their maximum one hour of exercise time, once a day, every day. With that said, whether going for a walk to a nearby park, river, or beach to get some fresh air and sunshine, you must stay within a 5km radius of your home. Here’s the article for all the details about exercising, masking up during exercising and more: https://www.opsmc.com.au//exercising-in-melbourne-stage-4/

14.01.2022 Done your weekly shop yet? If not, make sure you stock up on some nourishing fruit! Two serves of fruit are recommended every day for healthy adults.... A serve of fruit is approximately 150g or: 1 medium apple, banana, orange or pear 2 small apricots, kiwi fruits or plums 1 cup diced or canned fruit (no added sugar) Or only occasionally: cup fruit juice (no added sugar) 30g dried fruit (for example, 4 dried apricot halves, 1 tablespoons of sultanas) So you could have 1 apple and 2 kiwi fruits a day and youre set! Did you know there is increasing evidence that whole foods like fruit are more effective in reducing the risk of cancer than specific vitamin and mineral supplements? Fruit is naturally abundant in vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. Vitamins such as vitamin C and E and different phytochemicals may reduce the risk of cardiovascular conditions. Potassium and magnesium found in fruit have also been linked to lower blood pressure.

13.01.2022 If you have a chronic medical or musculoskeletal condition, your GP may suggest a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM) to help you get better. With a CDM plan, Medicare covers a portion of the cost of an allied health consultation ($53.80 to be exact!). We fully bulk bill patients with a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangement. This means that there is no out-of-pocket expenses to the patient. We hope this makes osteopathic and dietetic services much more accessible t...o people with chronic health conditions. Osteopaths can treat chronic conditions such as back pain, migraines, arthritis, joint pain, tendinopathy, TMJ pain and more. Dietitians can provide dietary advice for chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer and more. It is ultimately up to your GP to determine whether you are eligible for a CDM Plan. If you have had a medical or musculoskeletal condition for, or is likely to be, six months or longer, you may be eligible. You can book online via our website, or you can send us a message via Facebook. Full details about CDM can be found here: https://www1.health.gov.au//Fact%20Sheet%20-%20CDM%20-%20P

13.01.2022 Our Osteopath Dr David Gobbo has helped many patients over the years overcome their head and neck pain by using osteopathic techniques like manual therapy, dry needling and lifestyle advice. Often the head, neck and shoulder muscles are massaged and manually stretched, mobilised or manipulated to loosen up the tight muscles and joints which cause the pain. Treatments aim to provide longer lasting relief which means you can feel better, enjoy things you may not have in a whi...le () or maybe you wont have to rely on daily pain medication, which can really affect the stomach over time. To help reduce your pain for the week ahead, give us a call on 0476 919 312 or book online at: https://sydneyroadosteopathyanddietetics.com.au/contact-us

12.01.2022 Happy Friday! We hope youve had a great week! We have some availability tomorrow for osteopathy appointments in the morning and afternoon. If you need a treatment, give us a call on 0476 919 312, head to our website or send us a Facebook message to book in a time

07.01.2022 Hello! We hope everyone is staying safe and well. For the safety of our patients, staff and colleagues, we have regrettably decided to stop seeing patients at our clinic for the time being. We have been working hard to figure out a way to continue delivering health care to our patients during this time. Very recently, the Federal Government announced that Telehealth will be available for allied health professionals so that the health and well-being of the community is not fur...ther impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. With Telehealth, we can continue providing advice to you using either a video or phone call (instead of you coming into a clinic). If you have a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM/EPC referral), the session will be completely covered by Medicare so there is no out of pocket expense. We will provide more details once we have more information from our governing bodies and will update you as soon as we are ready to provide the best level of care via Telehealth!

07.01.2022 Dr David Gobbo is in the clinic tomorrow and has some appointments in the late morning and evening. If youd like to book, please give us a call on 0476 919 312 or you can send us a message on Facebook.

07.01.2022 Hello everyone. We hope everyone is adjusting OK to the latest COVID-19 restrictions. Fingers crossed we can collectively make some positive change over the next 6 weeks! . We'd like to share with you some of the changes to our practice inline with the State Government's COVID-19 Stage 4 Restrictions. ... . Dietitian consultations are still being held via Telehealth (by phone or video call) only. . There are a few changes for osteopathy consultations: Face-to-face consultations are continuing for urgent cases only. Routine treatment, or 'non-urgent treatment' is not permitted. Online bookings for osteopathy are closed. To book an appointment for urgent care, please call 0476 919 312. Our osteopath will ask some screening questions to assess if a patient meets the urgent criteria prior to treatment. Patients who do not meet the criteria will need to wait 6 weeks. Prescreening will be necessary for both COVID risk and meeting the urgency criteria. If your case is deemed urgent, then only the urgent treatment component, not a full treatment cycle, will have to be considered. It is unlikely that new patients beyond the 5km limit can attend our clinic. The 5km limit does not apply to healthcare for existing patients. A GP referral is not necessary for osteopaths to see a patient. All allied health PPE requirements will be met (face mask and goggles). . We hope that if we stick to the restrictions and are careful in how we operate and act as a community over the next 6 weeks, we will be that much closer to getting things back to normal. . Lastly, if you feel you need support in any way, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us and hopefully we can point you in the right direction. Otherwise, the Department of Social Services is supporting individuals and families affected by coronavirus through a range of measures: https://www.dss.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-information-a . All the best, Pearl and David

06.01.2022 Friendly reminder that were still open and are maintaining a high level of hygienic practices during this time! Heres a little overview about the differences between osteos, chiros and physios. If youre not sure if osteopathy can help you, feel free to give us a call on 0476 919 312 and our osteopath can provide some recommendations. "Osteopaths focus on the health of the entire body, rather than just the injured or affected part. They look at how your skeleton, joints, mu...scles, nerves, circulatory system, connective tissue and internal organs function as a whole body unit. You might see an osteo for issues including back pain, headaches, sporting injuries or digestive issues." Osteopaths use manual therapy, lifestyle advice and therapeutic needling techniques to get the whole body working again. You can read more about how the three professions differ here: https://www.medibank.com.au//physio-chiro-or-osteo-whats-/

06.01.2022 It came to our attention that there were some issues with our online bookings. Weve since worked out the kinks and made a few changes around our website if youd like to take a look!
