16.05.2022 What does the interest rate increase mean to you? By now you would have heard that interest has gone up and you may be worried about what the increases will mean to you and how it will affect you. Interest rates rising in Australia are predictable, something we knew would happen for some time. So what does the recent increase mean to you? If you have an average loan of $500,000 and the rate goes up by 0.15 per cent, it will be an extra $40 per month. ... If you are worried about the recent interest rate hike, there are still plenty of opportunities to save. Get in touch to discuss best options for you.

22.01.2022 HOW TO SAVE THOUSANDS BY REFINANCING Refinancing to a lower interest rate will lower your monthly mortgage repayments. And even a small decrease in monthly repayments can add up to thousands of dollars over the length of a home loan. Other reasons to refinance your home loan:... There are more benefits to refinancing than just saving money. Get more mortgage features Switch to a mortgage because it has features like additional repayments, a redraw facility, portability or offset accounts. These features can help you save on interest repayments or give you more flexibility. Unlock your equity If you've repaid a substantial amount of your mortgage then this is equity. You can borrow this equity using a line of credit or by refinancing and borrowing more money. Consolidate debt You can refinance multiple debts into your mortgage and pay it off with a single interest rate. This can help because a home loan rate is lower than a car or personal loan rate. However, paying off a smaller debt over decades by adding it to your mortgage can end up costing you more in interest over time.

16.01.2022 HOME BUILDER EXTENSION The details surrounding the newly announced extension to the Home Builder program have been released. On Sunday (29 November), the Treasurer announced that the Home Builder program will be extended to 31 March 2021, albeit in a modified form.... The original program, which offers grants of $25,000 to owner-occupiers substantially renovating or building a new home, is available for contracts signed up to 31 December 2020. After that day, the extended Home Builder program will apply. This will provide a $15,000 grant for building contracts (new builds and substantial renovations) signed between 1 January 2021 and 31 March 2021, inclusive. There has also been an increase to the property price cap for new build contracts in New South Wales and Victoria. These are rising to $950,000 and $850,000, respectively. However, this only applies to the second iteration - where the contract is signed between 1 January 2021 and 31 March 2021.

09.01.2022 An important announcement for customers impacted by the ongoing bushfire crisis: NAB customers who have lost their homes can immediately access a $2000 grant to... assist with their urgent needs such as food, clothing and temporary accommodation. These funds will be deposited directly into customer accounts as early as next business day. We have set up a dedicated phone line for those needing assistance. Please call us on 1300 683 106 to find out how to immediately access these grants. This is part of a $1 Million Disaster Relief Fund that NAB has today announced to help people affected by fires across Australia. NAB employees who have had to evacuate their homes can also access a $1000 grant. Other measures available to assist customers include: * Suspending home loan repayments * Credit card and personal loan relief * Support to manage regional and agri banking facilities * We have made NABs Employee counselling and assistance program available to all affected customers Wed again like to thank all our employees who are serving as volunteer fire fighters in this difficult time. NAB offers unlimited paid leave to emergency service volunteers, in addition to all other leave entitlements, and we thank them for their brave service - especially as some of them are themselves personally impacted by these fires. Our Chief Customer Officer, Mike Baird, has been in regular contact with our bankers and staff on the ground in affected areas and today said: I have heard the grief in our bankers voices as they grapple with making sure our colleagues are safe and, at the same time, are dealing with the impact more broadly on their own communities. There are horrific tales of lost homes, lost livelihoods and, most tragically, lost loved ones. Many families and businesses face an uncertain future and we want to do all we can. Customers in need of support should visit their local branch or call our NAB Assist team on 1300 683 106. In addition, any Australians who wish to donate to help Australian Red Cross support efforts in these communities can do so at any NAB Branch across Australia or by logging into NAB Internet Banking.

09.01.2022 It is very likely that like me, you have regularly been monitoring the news and other media for updates on the current health crisis, economy, and what changes we need to make in our lifestyles. Drastic measures have now been put in place by the government to contain the ongoing crisis we are facing, and it is making everyone nervous. These measures have resulted in many livelihoods being threatened, and our society has been taken out of its comfort zone. We do not know how... long this crisis will last but can only conclude that we are indeed living in uncertain times. While we are processing all this information, it is hard to avoid a sense of dread and worry, and we are constantly on the lookout for some positive developments to ease our fears. There is some reassurance that, along with the temporary regulations set out, the government is also making efforts to soften the impact on citizens by means of financial stimulus so that we might avoid a full-blown recession. In the face of this outbreak, it is also heart-warming to see communities bond together for survival, and many citizens have displayed selflessness by helping the more vulnerable even as they experience the difficulties in the current situation. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel The pandemic that has led to social distancing has also forged stronger connections between people, with stories of everyday people going out of their way to make sure no one gets left behind. While some may call it ironic, I see it as a basic human instinct that is guided by the will to survive and this survival is greatly dependent on the efforts of entire communities. Taking action While we go through these uncertain times, we must remain optimistic and do all that we can to protect ourselves and loved ones from not only the health risks but also the economic repercussions. Old wisdom tells us that it is best to make hay while the sun shines, or always save for a rainy day. While there is no doubt that we are already in the middle of a storm, there is no reason why we should not continue to make the most of our options.
