17.01.2022 Early intervention is key!

16.01.2022 Very often we get enquiries about toddlers who do not talk as much as their peers or siblings, and how to help. A fantastic way to model and stimulate language is through repetition, using a range of vocabulary and simplifying your language. A great go to and a favourite of ours in therapy are the SPOT books. The lift the flap nature of these books makes it very engaging for children to partake in reading and predict what may happen next. Language can be stimulated by ask...ing a variety of ‘wh’ questions, targeting spatial concepts (prepositions), asking yes/no questions, basic concepts (big/little & full/empty), articulation of sounds, prediction and sentence formation (SV & SVO structure). If you haven’t already, get your hands on these wonderful story books!

05.01.2022 The job of a Speech Pathologist is so often misunderstood, usually because people think we work on initially learning to talk or producing correct sounds. In reality, we work on so much more! Source: mrsspeechiep
