19.01.2022 Todays ride saw 19 riders take off from Blackheath to Govetts Leap Lookout, Evans Lookout, Medlow Bath and Katoomba. We had it all... amazing scenery, chilly winds, short and sharp hills, delicious coffee and an off-road challenge. But ride leader Paul got us there in the end!

18.01.2022 A full group on beautiful day were well led on today's City to La Perouse ride. Well done to David and Andrew for stepping in last minute to lead

16.01.2022 The City of Sydney had today sent out an email re underrepresentation of women in cycling. The following is their text with link to their report... Why do fewer women ride or walk than men? Active travel has a big role to play as Sydney moves towards a greener and more sustainable future. But women continue to be under-represented when it comes to walking and cycling. We wanted to learn why. The City of Sydney and C40 Women4Climate have released new research into the barriers... and opportunities that exist for women's active travel. The study, On the Go: How women travel around our city, ( https://news.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au//why-arent-more-women ) almost 900 women across Greater Sydney interviewed about their travel. The findings revealed the way women travel is unique and the barriers they face when considering active travel are greater than for men and the broader population. The full report is now available online and will inform the City's approach to active travel as we look to increase women's participation in cycling and walking. https://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au//cycling-strategy-rese

11.01.2022 A fun day out on the bike around inner Sydney today as teams solved clues to map their next destination, collecting clues along the way to identify a mystery celebrity (the lovely High Jackman), and finished with a picnic. 08.01.2022 You may be interested in this helping out with this Cycling in Sydney survey being conducted as part of Oliver's PHD... "My name is Oliver Lock, as part of my PhD studies at UNSW I have been investigating the concept of participatory data analytics in the context of transport planning and dcision-making. As part of the third component of this research, I am conducting a survey on how people currently use, experience and engage with the cycling network and digital services r...elated to cycling in Sydney, Australia. The survey will ask you questions about how you use Sydney's cycling network, how you participate in cycling decisions and your preferences on investment in infrastructure. It should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. You are not directly compensated for this participation, however there is a raffle where you could win a choice of a $40 food delivery voucher, or a $40 donation a global bicycle charity. I am reaching out to you as I believe you can help this study by either: Filling out the survey through the following link: https://survey123.arcgis.com//24f39c1cb0df4ac8828df23e02e6 "

02.01.2022 Email as received by Sydney Spokes... Hi BUG's, I'm reaching out to all of you because Sydney Safe Cycling together with Bicycle NSW are holding a SYDNEY SAFE CYCLING MONTH 13th June - 12th July.... Our aim is to get a message directly to the driver passing the cyclist that they are a human being and to keep the 1m (speed limits under 60km/h) or 1.5m (speed limits over 60km/h) safety distance from them. This will save lives!! What Sydney Safe Cycling Month involves is for cyclists to buy a bib online for $5 with a humanizing statement and a distance reminder of 1m or 1.5m, and wear it for Sydney Safe Cycling Month. Please visit this website to purchase. https://sydneysafecycling.godaddysites.com/ Join our FB Page and FB Group called SYDNEY SAFE CYCLING. We have also set up a FB Event to for you to Share. More Cyclists that get involved mean a louder voice which means change. Thank you Gina Lewis-Enright Financial Director
