Ingredients: 2x cans of ready boiled chickpeas (comes salted) 1x cup of tahini paste... 50ml of squeezed lemon juice 1.5x tsp of salt (or as per needed) 1.5x cup of water 3x medium size garlic cloves 1/2x tsp of cumin spice 4 tsp of extra virgin olive oil Blend all the ingredients above in a food processor until you get a lovely thick yet soft consistency. Garnish with a drizzle of more extra virgin olive oil and/or a pinch of paprika spice. Side serve with finger chopped carrots, celery, cucumber or rice crackers and plain corn chips. . 17.01.2022 Did you know: . Within a week there are molecular signs of muscle atrophy (depending on the muscle group, the time varies). .... Lower body muscles show signs of atrophy quicker. . Muscle mass decreases at an annual rate of 12% after 50 years of age.. Muscle strength declines by 1.5% between ages 50 and 60. . After 60 years the rate increases to 3%. . . As we age, significant changes in muscle mass and quality take place. Sarcopenia is where our muscles start to degenerate due to the natural process of aging. Its occurrence is estimated to begin even at the age of 30 years. . The reasons for these changes are multifactorial however two main physiological changes are evident in sarcopenia: . Denervation of motor units, therefore loss of muscle fibre recruitment and; . A net conversion of fast type II muscle fibres (the ones that are good at strength/power based activities) into slow type I fibres (the ones that work best for endurance tasks). . .
