24.01.2022 Evening report from Morticia: "Apparently we are racing, it's pretty cruisey" said skipper Chris Williams as the black tri pushed past Lake Macquarie earlier this evening in an 8-10kt nor'easter. With only 4 on board the 980 kilo multihull there's a 2 hour 2 person watch system and everyone drives. Dinner was spag bowl heated up on a metho stove on a warm night, the crew still in shorts and light jackets after dark.... Morticia's crew were thinking staying close to shore might be the best course overnight though the ships off Newcastle were pointing in weird directions indicating there could be breeze offshore said Williams. Here's some on board shots from Morticia while on Team Australia 'someone' forgot the plastic cutlery (metal being too heavy).

17.01.2022 Morning report from Josh Alexander on board BOQ Team Australia: Bit of a slow night as you would see from tracker, lots of ships all about so we had to keep a good look out not to run into one. We are all getting some sleep on this trip unlike most others I might even get bed sores! We are all in contention for the golden pillow award this trip.... Just had to stop typing as Larry is driving and asked politely for "a cup of tea please" being the good boat captain/navigator/cook armed with my fork from noodles and a sail batten as a stirrer I obliged. See image. Wind is steady at 8-10kts, flat water.

17.01.2022 Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race 2015: race cancelled Middle Harbour Yacht announced today the cancellation of the Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race 2015. MHYC Commodore John McCuaig advised the lack of entries in both the monohull and multihull divisions drove the decision not to continue planning for the race start on March 27. Its a disappointing outcome for both my club and for our partner, Mooloolaba Yacht Club. ... Last year we did our best to the get the mixed multihull and monohull race off the ground with only three entries. Only one boat finished and that was Team Australia. With the same level of entries this year, pushing ahead to run the race with those numbers just isnt practical. I am unsure as to what will happen to the race in the future and if Middle Harbour will look at running it. For now the club will put all its energy into its signature Sydney Harbour Regatta which is on this weekend, McCuaig said. The first Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race was run in 1964 and called the Sydney to Brisbane race. The race finish moved to Mooloolaba in 1973 so the fleet didn't have to negotiate the tides and sandbanks of Moreton Bay. The race ran continually until 2006. Between 2007 and 2013 the race wasnt conducted. In 2014 Middle Harbour Yacht Club worked in conjunction with Sean Langman to reinvigorate the race, offering for the first time both monohull and multihull entries. McCuaig thanked Mooloolaba Yacht Club and all who have been involved in organising and supporting the race.

07.01.2022 It's slow bloody slow. Make sure you have sufficient food - dont want a mutiny! But you are on the beach, so you could dial up a pizza and pick it up along the way says world renowned meteorologist Roger 'Clouds' Badham on the forecast for the returned Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race which starts today at 1pm from the harbour. Ricochet will start with the others but not complete the route, Team Australia hoping for a 2 day run and Morticia's owner Shaun Carroll says it could take the 30 foot tri up to 4 days to chew through the 468 nautical miles.
07.01.2022 At 6:48pm Friday night, 11/4/14, the Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race was brought to a close. Everyone was in high spirits as Team Australia was escorted in to Mooloolaba's wharf and welcomed by applause and a round of well-deserved drinks. A huge congratulations to the crew and a big thanks to all those involved. With this year's race over we now look to a bright future for the Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race in 2015.

05.01.2022 At 9.10am this morning north of Newcastle Shaun Carroll's Morticia advised their retirement from the Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Race the crew believing they don't have enough food, water or patience to continue on. BOQ Team Australia #BOQTeamAus is making steady progress in 8-10knts & unlike most trips the crew is getting plenty of rest. The tri will be open for public viewing at Mooloolaba before contesting the Brisbane to Gladstone Race starting April 18.
