16.01.2022 After spending many months at home we decided to take off on a road trip to enjoy our very own NSW backyard. What a great backyard it has turned out to be. First stop was Seal Rocks village which stunned us with its beauty. A mere three and a bit hours drive from Sydney you can enjoy turquoise clear waters so still the stand up paddlers were reflected in the ocean. Surfer dudes told us that this is also a great surf beach. This is a paradise for snorkellers as the Marine ...Life is rich in diversity and includes sightings of turtles, sting rays, wobbegong sharks and even seals. The glistening white beach is protected by the crescent shaped bay and we found unique sea shells on our sandy walk but left them for others to admire. Best of all it is a sleepy hamlet with one shop selling essential summer thongs, suntan lotion and grocery provisions as well as being the local post office. 10.01.2022 Byron has long been the sun kissed Hippie capital in Australia and magnet for those seeking alternate lifestyles. With no McDonalds or KFC in sight we loved the unique vibe of the cute shops and cafes. Byron or the Bay as it is known by the locals, has stunning long stretches of white sandy beaches with clusters of rock formations which become pools when the tide rushes in. These stunning beaches punctuated by Pandanus trees are also one of the most dog friendly beach areas. You can always see lots of mutts taking to the waves with strapping long-haired and tattooed surfers joining them. Darryl

04.01.2022 Next stop on our roadie found us in the charming bohemian town of Bellingen. We were delighted with the old world charm of the town boasting cute quaint shops with unique wares. There is a strong emphasis on organic here and we loved browsing the market stalls and sampling turmeric lattes and chai. Art galleries abound, you could easily spend time enjoying the artworks set in federation style buildings. We also spied a converted church or two. The magical Dorrigo Forest is a ...short drive away and we enjoyed a pint at the pub after our long cool forest walk. From the forests we visited the exquisite seaside down of Urunga. Here we trod the boardwalk to see where the river joined the ocean and were rewarded with a pod of dolphins swimming back to the ocean as the tide ebbed. Do take time to visit these gems on the mid north coast, they are well worth it. Darryl
