23.01.2022 Hi All, The final Saturday training session for the year will be the 15th December. Please note that the session will be shorter than normal as the Arena Centre will be closing at 3pm that day. For the week commencing Monday 10th December, the Arena Centre will be closing at 3pm and so we will not have our normal evening session on Wednesday 12th or Thursday 13th December. ... We are considering hiring space at Sydney Uni's Sports and Aquatic Centre from 6-8pm on Thursday 13th December. Please post below / let me know if you would be interested in attending such a session. We would need to charge a $10 fee for attendance. The Club will reopen on the 9th January for the normal Wednesday night session, 7.15-9.45pm.

18.01.2022 We have set the dates for this year's Sydney Uni Fencing Club Championships. Sabre - Saturday 28 November Foil - Saturday 5 December Epee - Saturday 12 December... Time: 12:00 midday Location: The Arena Sports Centre, Western Avenue, University of Sydney Entry fee: $15 Competitions are open to both members and non-members, although non-members will have to pay a SUSF visitor fee as well as the entry fee. There will be gold, silver and bronze medals, plus chocolates. Trophies for Men’s Club Champion and Women’s Club Champion in each event. IMPORTANT: To ensure we do not breach COVID restrictions, we ask that you advise in advance if you are coming: email [email protected] or accept the Facebook invitation (when available). Entries on the day will be accepted, but only if we have not already reached maximum numbers.

Over the weekend I will be sending out guidelines as to how training will be operating and what we will require of members. We will also be requiring all members to indicate which training sessions they wish to attend. I will then organize a schedule to ensure we dont exceed our limit of 15 people present at any one time. ... 11.01.2022 Hi All, Unfortunately for us, there was a miscommunication within SUSF and while I was told that we would have extended hours until we heard differently, the Arena Centre has been taking public bookings during these extended hours. A big thank you to Ted Elliott for noticing this was the case on the SUSF website! I have spoken to SUSF and they have apologised for the mistake but have been unable to rectify it completely. ... 10.01.2022 Mixed Cadet and U12 Epee State Teams Championships: Congratulations to our Cadet team - Kevin Fernando, Amelie Read, Raphaela Rotolo-Ross and Isabella Pippia, who finished with silver. All four fencers put on a strong performance against the NSWFC/FAA composite team. Special Congratulations to our U12 Epee team of Ella Anderson, Noah Blender-Green, Thomas Deller and William Deller who finished second out of five teams. All four team members fenced extremely well, only just missing out on gold. In the pool unique they won three of their four bouts, narrowly losing to Hills A 33-36. This is particularly exciting considering three of the four team members have only recently picked up Epee.

10.01.2022 Hi everyone, Just a quick update: Sydney Uni Sports and Fitness is looking to start opening indoor sports facilities from Saturday, 13th June and we are hopeful that we will be able to resume training (in a limited capacity) from Wednesday, 17th June. ... At this stage we are still unsure what activities will be permitted and what hours we will be open. SUSF is currently working on a training schedule for clubs that will ensure no more than 100 people are present at the Arena Centre at the one time. We hope to have a clearer idea by the end of this week and will keep you updated when we hear. Hopefully see you at training in not too long :)

04.01.2022 Hi All, Please find attached details of how our training sessions will be operating and what will be required of members. Prior to participating, all fencers will be required to sign a copy of this protocol to indicate that they agree to comply with the conditions specified. You can either email a signed copy to [email protected], bring a signed copy with you to your first training session, or complete a copy at the club. ... Please note that, for this week, all fencers will be required to bring all their own gear. From Wednesday 24th June we will be lending equipment to those who need it. Further details of how this system will work will be provided shortly. Please also note that we will require fencers to indicate each week what sessions they wish to attend until our restrictions on numbers are lifted further. 02.01.2022 Hi, Our Beginner Foil and Epee courses start this week! Both course runs for six weeks at the the following times: Epee: Wednesday 27th February 7.15pm-8.15pm... Foil: Saturday March 2nd, 2.15-3.15pm Cost: $120 for one six week course OR $180 for both OR $20 for the first class of either course and then pay the remaining $100 at the second class. To complete the course you also need to join Sydney Uni Sports and Fitness ($60) and the Fencing Club ($50). If you left your email at the O-week stall because you were interested in theses courses you will receive an e-mail from the coach this week.
