24.01.2022 COVID 19 Update: 15th May There have been some exciting announcements about the recommencement of sport, and your diligent committee members are working away behind the scenes to ensure we are ready. As we have said many times before, the wellbeing of our community is our greatest priority and we need to ensure that our policies and procedures are sufficient to protect our officials, players and coaches. ...Continue reading

24.01.2022 COVID 19 Update: 15th May We hope you and your families are all safe and healthy. The committee wanted to touch base and let you know where we are at in planning and progress for the 2020 season. -Season update- Although our governing Mens, Womens, Masters and Juniors associations originally planned to commence the season at the start of May, this is clearly not possible and they have revised their plans to reflect this. At the moment, all associations have advised that t...hey will make decisions based on guidance from State and Federal authorities, Hockey Australia and Hockey NSW. -Planning for the 2020 season- The best possible scenario involves the public gathering rules to be lifted in time for some kind of hockey to be played, but we are unsure if the season would be run in a shortened format or be deferred to finish later into the year. Although we understand that the commencement of a regular hockey season is extremely hopeful, our committee will continue to plan for the commencement, if it happens. However, another realistic possibility is that the season may not be able to run at all. With this in mind, Scott Barker and our committee are also looking at alternate activities to run later in the year, such as an internal summer competition. -Staying fit and healthy: physically- Follow the advice of NSW Health: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//dise/Pages/coronavirus.aspx There are also some great initiatives from our community, encouraging others to remain active and maintain hockey skills: SUHCs Instagram is running a Skills with Scott activity each week, looking at hockey specific skills that can be done safely at home Hockey NSWs Facebook and Instagram page are running a #hockeyhibernation program, which looks at hockey skills and physical fitness Sydney Uni Sports Instagram are running regular fitness challenges designed to challenge our fitness and mental resilience. -Staying fit and healthy: mentally- Your health and wellbeing is most important to us. If you are struggling with the stressful and uncertain times, there is help out there. If you or someone you know need someone to talk to and dont know where to go, here are some options: Lifeline: 13 11 14 https://www.lifeline.org.au/ Beyond Blue: 1300 224 636 https://www.beyondblue.org.au/ Headspace: 1800 650 890 https://www.headspace.com/covid-19 ReachOut: https://au.reachout.com/ Also, the ABC recently published an article with tips and tricks to overcome mental health challenges during this unusual period: https://www.abc.net.au//hack/mental-health-corona/12067484 Please reach out to any of our committee, if you want to know anything else or chat about our future plans. Most importantly, be safe and look out for one another.

22.01.2022 PL1 Semis week 1 - Syd Uni v Sutho

21.01.2022 URGENT NOTICE Any player, official or spectator who has visited Victoria and/or one of the identified reported case locations (listed in the link) in the last 14 days, need to contact SUHCs Covid Officer, Scott Barker, immediately on [email protected] These participants must not attend training or matches until cleared. Please also contact your coach or VP to let them know that you cannot play this weekend. ... Hockey NSW have asked all clubs to minimise the number of spectators attending competitions & training. i.e. a maximum of one parent or carer per child and no spectators at adult sport. SUHC advocates the Get in, play, get out motto. https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates

21.01.2022 Covid update: August 20 Community sport will continue to run as normal for now, with a few poignant reminders from Hockey NSW: 1. Get in, play, get out. Arrive no more than 30 minutes before your game and dont stick around to watch the game after you... 2. Essential participants only: players, coaches, umpires and officials are permitted to enter a venue 3. No spectators for senior participants. Limit spectators to one parent, where the child requires adult supervision. Bruce Pryor Turf and most other venues are strictly no spectators. Visit www.sydneyhockey.com.au or www.swhl.com.au to find out which venues allow spectators. 4. Social distance when off the field and in the dugout. No team huddles or high fives 5. Check in on arrival at each venue 6. Do not attend and get tested if you have any symptoms. If you receive a positive Covid test, please email [email protected] urgently 7. Where possible, avoid carpooling and bus travel with people from different households. We need every single one of our members to take individual responsibility and ensure they follow all necessary health, safety and hygiene protocols. We want to make sure we finish off the season safely, and we can only do it if we all act responsibly.

21.01.2022 Get ready to strap on the shinnies because trials begin this weekend! Please make sure you have registered using the link and email us if you are unsure which trials to attend. NB: Mens Ryde game times unconfirmed.

21.01.2022 Congratulations to Leilani Innes and Kendelle Tai for their selection in the @hockeynewsouthwales Athlete Acceleration Program (AAP)! 21.01.2022 COVID-19 update Thursday 19 March Matches and Training Postponed Hockey NSW released a statement on Tuesday strongly recommending that all associations and clubs cease training and games until May. In support of this advice, all Sydney University Hockey Club Womens, Mens, Masters and Juniors matches and training have been postponed until May.... We must stress that the season is not cancelled and we will continue to plan for the season to commence in May. Our associations have not yet decided if they will shorten the season or push the season back to finish later. Members of the premier squad who still wish to participate in individual sessions can contact Scott Barker at [email protected]. We received an extremely positive response to this training announcement on Tuesday, and Scott would like to encourage people to continue to contact him to set up a time to train individually. We ask our members to use common sense when deciding whether or not to train and follow these guidelines from NSW Health and the references below: -stay home if you are sick -clean your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol. -cover your sneeze or cough with your elbow or with tissue. -avoid close contact with people who are ill -avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth Due to the uncertainty surrounding the spread of the pandemic and the tightening of guidelines, we are unsure of the exact dates that training and matches will commence. We will recommence training when we are recommended to do so and will announce when training restarts on Facebook and our website. While we are disappointed to be deferring the start of the season, we are relieved to ensure that we are doing our best to maintain our members safety and wellbeing. Take this as a great opportunity to work on your individual fitness before the season begins!

20.01.2022 As the season commences, please remember that staying COVID safe is of the highest priority. For guidance please consult the advice from Hockey NSW below. Happy hockeying!
