25.01.2022 See what is happening these days! ~ NSW has recorded yet another day without a locally transmitted COVID-19 case, bringing its streak to a fortnight. There were three cases in hotel quarantine recorded in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. The total number of COVID-19 cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic is now 4,915, NSW Health reports. (9NEWS) ~ Today marks the first Saturday of 2021 where private gatherings of more than five guests will be permitted after caps... were extended to 30 guests this week. The state's mask mandate has also relaxed, with people in greater Sydney no longer forced to wear a face covering while shopping in certain settings. Masks are still mandatory on public transport, in beauty salons and for workers in hospitality. (9NEWS) ~ Australians won't have to visit the doctor's office to receive their COVID-19 vaccination, with the AstraZeneca jab set to be made available at thousands of pharmacies around the country. New Zealand's Cabinet agreed in principle to establish a trans-Tasman bubble with Australia early next year, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced on Monday. It would be conditional on coronavirus case levels staying low and pending approval by the Federal Government. Mr Hunt said the Federal Government would "absolutely" approve the agreement, and that increased travel between the two countries would benefit both economies. (ABC news) 2.... South Australia has recorded its first coronavirus case in more than a fortnight, after a returned traveller in hotel quarantine tested positive. The man in his 40s is currently at a medi-hotel after arriving from overseas, and returned a positive result on his day-one test, SA Health said. It is the first case in 15 days in the state. (ABC news) 3. Most meteor showers are created by debris trails set down by comets, but the Geminids are created by debris from an asteroid-like object called 3200 Phaethon. As a result, the debris is more rocky than dusty, so the meteors tend to be brighter and travel further across the sky, says Andrew Jacob, a curator at Sydney Observatory.
