10.04.2022 WELLBEING WEEK MENTAL HEALTH PANEL TONIGHT: 6-7 PM, LAW LOUNGE At least 1 in 4 university students will experience mental ill-heath in any given year. University stress, a lack of sleep, poor diet, drug and alcohol use, financial stress, work/study/life balance, living away from family and performance anxiety are amongst the risk factors which can lead to poor mental health outcomes and psychological distress. All of these factors are too prominent at law school, and law stud...ents are constantly in this environment, spending, on average, over 37 hours per week engaged in university-related activities. Moreover, the legal sector is fast-paced, stressful and high-pressure: the mental stressors don’t stop once you leave campus of graduate. As such, we’re bringing you a panel to discuss with experts and legal students/professionals themselves how we can best maintain our mental wellbeing whilst at law school and beyond. Come along this evening , 6-7 PM in the Law Lounge to hear from some incredible panellists: Steph Nomikos (Thomson Geer), Varsha Yajman (LLB 3 and mental health advocate), Dr Sandhya Limaye (immunologist, lecturer and wellbeing expert), Miriam Chan (mental health counsellor) and a Lifeline Representative.
