25.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas! Thank you to all those who support us and make it possible for our club to grow and develop. See you for a great 2021!

25.01.2022 Sydney Zodiacs were back on the water tonight with such a stunning evening after a wild last 24 hours. A great session, warm weather and a beautiful sunset... what a great way to return to paddling.

24.01.2022 Congratulations Danny ONeill, Sydney Zodiacs newest Assistant Coach. Danny is passionate about Dragon Boating and will be a positive and enthusiastic addition to our clubs coaching team.

23.01.2022 Sydney Zodiacs send our Sloths friends and community our thoughts during this sad time. A great loss for our Dragon Boat community.

22.01.2022 Great racing on the weekend!

22.01.2022 A flash back to 2014... reflecting on the second year of our club! Wonderful memories.

22.01.2022 REGATTA UPDATE - Over the weekend you will have seen the rapidly developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation which is affecting all of us. DBNSW are continuing ...to consult widely, reviewing recommendations from the governments health and sports authority experts and also listening to the concerns of our membership. Our primary goal is to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our members, volunteers and staff. We are also committed to doing our part to limit community transmission and to help prevent the most vulnerable from being exposed to the virus. The State Government has directed that from today, Monday 16th March, any non-essential gathering, including sports events, with over 500 people are cancelled. Therefore the DBNSW Board have agreed that the upcoming Point Wolstoncroft regatta on the 28th and 29th March will be cancelled. It is an unfortunate end to what has been a tough season of unprecedented events, however we believe this is the necessary decision. As the situation is changing day by day, we will continue to update members as required via email, our website and our social pages, and we thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience. This includes any communication in conjunction with AusDBF on the upcoming AusChamps co-hosted by DBNSW and AusDBF. We encourage all clubs and members to stay informed by monitoring news from the NSW Government, follow the health experts advice and limit your exposure where possible i.e. following hygiene guidelines and practice social distancing for all non-essential activities. Recommended websites to find advice and keep up to date: NSW Office of Sport and NSW Health. As this email now marks the end of the 2019/20 DBNSW racing season, we would like to recognise and give thanks to all clubs and members for their efforts this year it has not only been a challenge for DBNSW but also for many of our clubs and members. We will be presenting the winners of the NSW Dragon Boat Recognition Awards for 2020 at the first race of the next season. Keep a look out for upcoming comms around the winners of these awards. We will also in the coming weeks start to look forwards to the 2020/21 racing season calendar and we have already started planning new formats and more racing opportunities for all members, including opportunities to race at the Point Wolstoncroft site. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Shane Knight CEO Nicola Frowen Chairwoman dbnsw.org.au/news/race-4-wolstoncroft-update/

12.01.2022 Hi All... Aus Champs has been cancelled. While this is very disappointing for us as paddlers I am sure you understand that a decision like this is not taken lightly and we understand that AusDBF and DBNSW are following the guidelines and directives set by our Government to control the spread of COVOID-19. Please stay healthy and safe. Make sure to include some sort of physical activity in your daily plan.... The 25th Anniversary celebrations for the Aus Champs will now take place at the 2021 Aus Champs hosted by DBWA and held at the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre in Perth, WA. The dates for this event are Thursday 15 April to Monday 19 April 2021, inclusive. Keep an eye out for further emails from the club committee and coaching team on what we plan moving forward.

12.01.2022 What a time to be a Dragon Boater . Google has recognised the 2020 Dragon Boat Festival by having it as their banner. The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditiona...l holiday originating in China, occurring near the summer solstice. The festival now occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar, which is the source of the festivals alternative name, the Double Fifth Festival. See more

11.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day. A day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process ...for our people and nation. While this date carries great significance for the Stolen Generations and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, it is also commemorated by Australians right around the country. National Sorry Day immediately precedes National Reconciliation Week, which commemorates two significant milestones in our reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum (27 May 1967) and the High Court Mabo decision (3 June 1992). National Reconciliation Week offers us an opportunity to reflect on our individual and collective commitment to reconciliation and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This years theme for National Reconciliation Week, is in this together. #NRW2020 #InThisTogether2020

07.01.2022 What a fantastic day Sydney Zodiacs had at Darling Harbour yesterday for the Lunar New Year regatta. In the blistering heat all our paddlers performed well both on and off the water! A big welcome to all those experiencing their first race day and many at their first LNY regatta. History for the club with a full boat of junior women and a full boat of junior boys along with two junior mixed crews! A big thank you to all our family and friends who came down to support us and ...a very special and heartfelt thanks to those who were out there volunteering for the day! We also had a number of members backing up today to volunteer for the Corporate and Community LNY regatta and others out at Homebush volunteering at the Weetbix Kids Try-athlon! A massive weekend of events for our club. Results: Premier Mixed performed really well taking 2nd place in both heats but unfortunately that was not enough to take them to the final. Premier Open got one race together and how great was it to see our opens as a full boys crew! Premier Women like the opens had one race to make the top 6 and gain a place in the final which they did in style, finishing 5th in the final. Junior Mixed Yang developed with every race, our youngest and newest members working well together and having fun. Junior Mixed Yin smashed out each race taking first place in the final in a time over a second faster than their first heat. Our Junior Women paddled hard after a big day of racing taking 2nd place in the Junior final. Zodiacs history for our Junior Opens yesterday- 1. First time we had a full boat of junior boys. 2. First time our junior opens have taken first place at LNY. Thank you to the coaching team and sweeps who managed our crews through the day.

06.01.2022 If you know any young people aged 11-17 years who may be looking for something to try in January, the Leaps & Bounds Ahead Dragon Boat Holiday Program may be perfect. Please share this flyer today.
