22.01.2022 A PERSPECTIVE ON LEADERSHIP After more than twenty years working in the field of leadership development, I’d like to float a few ideas around this leadership thing. I think that leadership is a complex issues and one that many of us gloss over in the busyness of daily working life. I am certain that much of the really spectacularly good leadership that gets exercised within teams, groups and organizations does not come from the designated leaders. Leadership can be ex...Continue reading

15.01.2022 FOUNDATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE Synergy has developed, refined and tested a number of short customizable workshops which lay the foundations for High Performance. The workshops are organised into 3 Menus: Personal Effectiveness... Foundations for Teaming Foundations for Leadership There is one Workshop that evolves progressively through each Menu. This workshop is Conversations for Performance 1, 2 and 3. This workshop gets to the heart of Sustainable High Performance. As it becomes harder to release people for longer duration training programs short customisable workshops, which relate to each other and build progressively, are a great way to invest in building capability while keeping the promises you have in play. If you would like to understand how short Workshops could be customised and delivered to suit your needs.contact our office.

10.01.2022 BOUNCE: How much BOUNCE is in your Leadership step? What mood prevails in your team? How is this mood fueling action, or in-action? Is mood on the discussion agenda of your Executive Leadership Team? If not, why not? What are the black-holes? How are you taking responsibility for the bounce in your world? Real Work for Leaders Building Networks of Commitment... Over the last 20+ years we have helped clients to define, develop and embed their preferred MOS (Management Operating System). The supporting rationale for these projects is always highly validoptimise efficiencies, ensure effectiveness, reduce waste and maximize value. Good stuff! On numerous occasions it has become quickly apparent that the individual chunks of process were well defined and documented and, on paper, of a high quality. And, they should have been. They had been pulled apart and polished by an endless stream of process engineering black-belts and efficiency consultants...........at great cost. A quite different picture often emerges when the linkages between the chunks of process are examined. The linkages were often poor, fragile, damaged and certainly not on any maintenance schedule. It wasn’t an operating system. It was a collection of pieces of a potential system. The linkages were largely real people and their relationships with others. After years of process re-engineering the core issue is reliably in the human system. Astute leaders, shine the torch on the breakdowns in Cooperation, Coordination and Collaborationbreakdowns in Networks of Commitment. They clearly understand that Sustainable High Performance is the goal..not endless process re-engineering! Sustainable High Performance happens when the 6Cs are all in placetogether with simple and effective systems and process. In this new era waste lives in breakdown in the 6Cs. Our tipif you want Sustainable High Performance, start some new conversations! Map the networks of Commitment. Assess and address the issues associated with TRUST. Understand that a conversation involves both speaking and listening. Start with the listening bit! Tune into what is being listened toand how it is being listened to. Do some root cause analysis on the mood in play. Start with yourself. If what I have shared with you here perturbs or interests youGive us a call! We can help you build the 6Cs and Sustainable High Performance. It's what we do!

04.01.2022 My friends Ian and Alan are on the money here... The ability deal effectively with "breakdowns" and to also create "breakthroughs" is the essential prerequisite for each of us as individuals, team members and leaders. In todays changing world SUSTAINABILITY and RESILIENCE are underpinned in very large part by the ability to tune into the "dynamic conversations" that occur (or don't) within and between people, teams and key stakeholder groups. The "stories" that people live i...n create the "mood". Prevailing and embedded MOOD nearly always trumps "momentary enthusiasm, spin and hype". (Even the word "trump" triggers a disruptive "story" and "mood" these days.) If you or your leaders are not tuning into the mood, shaping and managing it, they are likely highly reactive, slow to adapt, anxious, stressed, caught up fighting fires and not at their "magnificent best." How does your team stack up on the 6Cs. (Refer Synergy web site). What conversations need to be surfaced or moved on from? What are the possibilities? Want help to explore this territory and come up with some simple, commonsense, actionable options...shoot me a message. Cheers Cam

04.01.2022 What do you think? Noone disputes the importance of safety. Question is ...."is the way we are doing safety effective AND sustainable?" If this article starts a useful conversation that is great. #conversations4performance #synergymatters

01.01.2022 Your thoughts? We have been working in the area of High Performing Teams and Culture for over 30 years and this rings a few bells for me! Key components of TRUST = SINCERITY (no lies, no spin, no gaming) ....RELIABILITY (keep promises...make your own promises and make them consciously and courageously)...COMPETENCE AND CAPABILITY (know the job, have the skills, and know you have the capability / time / energy / passion / committment / support etc to get them in play effective...ly)...INVOLVEMENT (be involved.. "to the degree needed by the team"...not dump and run / abrogate responsibility / spectate or operate from a protective bubble of self interest and.. not micro manage and snoop / fuel drama/ bog things down with "perfectionistic" thinking) How would you rate yourself on these? Open up a discussion about these lead indicators of performance. Happy to help...if needed. Cheers C See more
