25.01.2022 Do you have a vacant jetty and live in The Moorings? A SYRRA member is looking for a long term ongoing arrangement to lease a jetty. Ideally, with side walk down access to allow discreet access so as not to be annoying to the occupants. If so, please let us know and we will put you in contact.

21.01.2022 COOLUP PEOPLE! This car pulled into a friends driveway today and the occupants put on some fake accent about enquiring to buy a cow but seemed shifty and were trying to look around the property. Keep a look out!!

20.01.2022 Copied from North Yunderup Community page. Message from the Shire of Murray re mosquitos. I've chatted with our Environment team and they have advised we’ve had reports of increased activity due to recent La Nina conditions, meaning tides are higher than usual. In particular, mosquito number spikes have been evident in October, November and December whereas previously they are normally confined to October.... Mosquito treatments have been at their most frequent, to coincide with mosquito hatchings. We conducted a round of helicopter treatments last Monday as well as treatments on 29 and 17 December. The treatment on 17 December treatment lasted two days, and was one of the biggest treatments in recent times, covering nearly 500 hectares. We are expecting mosquito numbers to drop in the next two weeks and in the meantime we encourage the use of repellents, avoiding being outdoors at dawn and dust, and applying residual insecticide to house eaves to mitigate mosquito activity around houses. Stay safe people

19.01.2022 Carols on the Canals Event It is with great sadness that SYRRA advise all our residents that we have cancelled our annual Carols on the Canals Event for 2020. This was a very difficult decision for the current Committee members but our focus has always remained on ensuring we keep our community safe. In the year that 2020 has been, we believe the decision is in the best interests of everyone and that hopefully 2021 will bring a better and safer environment for large gatheri...ngs. We know this event is most welcomed by Community and there will be disappointment especially for the kids but we ask for your support at this time. 2021 Carols on the Canals Event will be bigger, better and with a changed format, so stay tuned.

18.01.2022 Got a strong interest in Murray’s river and estuary environments? Apply to join our community reference group and help develop a plan to effectively guide the management and future development of Murray’s river and estuary environments. The Shire are seeking applications from residents and representatives from community groups and local businesses.... Why a CHRMAP? Coastal hazards including erosion and inundation are impacting these systems and with their increasing extent and frequency, will pose even greater risks into the future. In order to protect our environment and mitigate these risks, we need to develop a deeper understanding of these hazards and establish an effective framework and plan. A collaborative, objective and comprehensive process, including on-the-ground citizen data, will assist in preparing the CHRMAP. Applications close: 4:00pm Friday 9 October, 2020. Hard copy forms are available from the Shire of Murray’s Administration Office and Murray Library.

15.01.2022 This information is very relevant to everyone intending on cruising the river and canals or heading over to Mandurah. One resident kindly wrote to us this week and asked that we remind you all to take extreme care and that kayaks and canoes at night, particularly with kids on board is against the law, not acceptable and very careless. Let's keep our waterways safe this festive season people

03.01.2022 Have you seen TwentyTwo? 22 is an elder adult female in her late thirties or older. We are regularly seeing her daughters alone without her now. Previously they... were always glued to her side. It may just be she has weaned her recent daughter early ( suggesting she is pregnant again) or due to age she may be missing. 22 is most likely seen in the Murray River or Serpentine River or near the river entrances. Unfortunately it is difficult for us to keep an eye on the rivers and we haven't seen her for awhile. For anyone who travels up the Murray she has been seen as high as Eaglehawk drive area at times! In the Serpentine 22 will often travel to Riverside Gardens area /the beginning of Goegrup Lake. She is a large *dark* coloured dolphin with quite a triangular fin ( in photos you might still see her freezebrand 22). Please let us know if you see her thankyou! See more
