22.01.2022 VACANT LAND TAX So...you probably know about land tax, now we have the additional VACANT Land Tax. Homes left unoccupied for more than 6 months a year, which are located within Stonnington, Boroondara, Yarra, Bayside, Moreland, Melbourne and another 10 Vic councils. The significant difference is that the tax is calculated on Capital Improved Value (CIV) and not Site Value as land tax is. The annual tax will be 1% of the CIV value. Eg, the tax on a property valued at CIV $...1,000,000 will be $10,000. This will be a significant cost to many of our clients that are holding on to a family home where deceased parents may have once lived, and for personal reasons have not been in a position to rent it out or sell it. 06.01.2022 Changes to DRINK-driving and DRUG-driving penalties from TODAY 30 April 2018. If you are caught driving with a BAC of .05 or more, even as a FIRST offence, you will be fined; lose your drivers licence (3, 6, or even up to 24 mths); need to complete a course; need an alcohol interlock installed in any vehicle for at least 6 months (once re-licensed). Zero tolerance applies to Learner drivers, P-players and professional drivers (truck, bus, taxi drivers). Beware if you a...re supervising an L-plater also!
