This week is Anxiety and OCD Awareness Week and is an important reminder that this is som...ething that impacts on many people with diabetes. In small doses anxiety is the body’s way of alerting people to a potential threat. For most people, anxious feelings go away after the threat has passed. But for some people, the fear becomes so intense and long lasting that it starts to affect daily life, including work, school, relationships and diabetes management. While the relationship between anxiety and diabetes is not fully understood, it is a known part of diabetes distress and is not uncommon for people with diabetes to experience higher levels of anxiety and worry. Remember, support is available. If you are experiencing anxiety and believe it is impacting your every day life, please reach out. 07.01.2022 Have you heard about what Siobhan and Troy are doing? They are amazing Diabetes Educators based in Proserpine and they are part of the Diabetes team in the Mackay Health District.... Troy and I are cycling Cambodia in October 2020 to raise money for JDRF type 1 diabetes Their hope is to raise $7000 by that time.
