23.01.2022 Another of our wonderful TAA hostesses. Does anybody remember working with Ms. Elizabeth Bull? Dennis Ciprian met her recently and shared this post: I met a very charming lady the other day. And a lady she is. At 83yrs of age she is an elegant, effervescent and a very captivating woman. In the course of our conversation it turned out that Elizabeth flew with TAA in the early 60's as a Hostess. We discussed and compared our various experiences in the different decades that w...e both worked in TAA. A registered nurse and recent arrival from England (she was born Scottish) she wanted to do something very different and joined TAA. She flew as Elizabeth Bull and subsequently married a Despatch officer/ pilot surname of Wright who was killed in an aircrash in PNG. Elizabeth has given me permission to post her picture together with the information in the faint hope that someone out there may recognise her. I am keeping in contact with her and will pass on any information that comes my way. An absolutely delightful lady.

19.01.2022 Lorraine Nothling posted this amazing photo! I commenced training with TAA on 24 November 1969. As our School 215 was the largest intake of trainees in TAA's history, on our first day we were marched out to a hangar at Essendon to have this amazing photograph taken. Wonderful memory.

03.01.2022 Christening Scissors The Museum recently had a visit from Neil Macmillan [son of TAA pilot James Macmillan] enquiring whether we would be interested in the christening scissors used by Lady Chippindall [Neils grandmother] when TAAs first Boeing B727 T-Jet (James Cook) arrived in Melbourne on 16 October 1964. We assured Neil we would take good care of the christening scissors which are now on display at the Museum. The plaque in the lid of the box says: These scissors we...re used by Lady Chippindall to christen Trans-Australia Airlines first B727 T-Jet James Cook at Melbourne Airport [Essendon] on 16 October 1964. Thanks Neil.

02.01.2022 Pure jet travel arrived on the domestic network in 1964 with the arrival of the Boeing 727-176, affectionately known as the 'Whispering T-jet', with the quietest First Class cabin in the sky. The new aircraft introduced a 'new look' and perhaps the T-Jet image was the longest lasting image of all TAA marketing campaigns. The Boeing 727-176, again reduced flying times, improved passenger comfort, had increasing reliability, and increasing payload for profitability.
