25.01.2022 Monday Scoop Self Care is so important. How many of us just get on with the routines of our day and just feel exhausted by the end of it. We forget ourselves as we attend to family, work, chores...ahhh LIFE etc! ... I came across this list that really resonated with me as I practise the mindful art of giving back to myself daily. Even if you start with implement one or two of these self care habits, you’ll be on your way to mindfully giving back to yourself so that you have more to give to others without feeling drained and exhausted. Here are 7 ways to nurture a self-care habit: 1. Start your morning by thinking of 5 things you’re grateful for. 2. If possible, practice mindful eating or drinking for a few minutes during a meal or a coffee/tea break. 3. Practice a mindful check-in during the day once or twice. 4. Take at least a 20-minute walk each day to care for your body. 5. Put your hands on your heart for a moment to wish yourself well. Try saying the words: May I be healthy and happy. 6. If things get tough, just acknowledge that it’s a difficult moment and consciously keep your inner-critic at bay. 7. At night, look back on the day, forgive all the people you’re holding grudges against (yourself included!), release the burden, and settle in for a good night’s sleep. 22.01.2022 Monday Scoop A little musing about Health and Wellness. I came across a few definitions that had me reflecting about what it all means to me and how I like to role model this in my practise. ... World Health Organization (WHO) defines health and wellness as "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Reflecting on this definition of health and wellness gives us a positive range of health well beyond the absence of sickness, where we are not sick and we can maintain a good state of health. We call it Wellness. This aspect of Wellness stops just there being in good health and keeping you away from illness and in a neutral state. It focuses on preventative health care; keeping you healthy, as opposed to a traditional health care perspective that aims at getting you back to a state where there is no illness or injury. Therefore to a level where you can function competently in your life and you are healthy and not slipping into ill health. But do we need to stop there and just function competently? No!! There is another Wellness which opens you up for much much more. When you really think about it, Wellness is not just something that happens, it’s an active process of becoming aware of and making choices towards a healthy and fulfilling life. It is a lot more than being free from illness, it’s a process categorised by constant change, activity and growth. An individual actively being involved and is exemplified by quality of life and a sense of well-being. When Wellness is the pursuit of your best possible Self then health and well-being takes you to the next level. It opens you up to seeing that Health and Well-being is not just about physical health, but also includes other areas which also includes emotional and spiritual aspects of life. I resonate with highly with this list; Emotional Health Intellectual Health Nutrition Awareness Self-responsibility and Self-care Occupational Well-being Safety Stress management Sexuality & Intimacy Social Connections Spirituality Environmental Sensitivity Financial Well-being I see Wellness more as a continuum and taking me from being in neutral health, moving forward up the scale to optimum health and beyond, leading towards a life of high level Wellness. 14.01.2022 Is your Myotherapy Practice Kid Friendly? Table for One is!!! Love it when the little ones come and visit with their mum or dad. I'm a kid friendly practice so if you need to come in for treatment and you don't have a baby sitter... that's ok! I can multitask plus the kids always feel welcomed. They can sit and draw or watch a show on their IPad and if their curiosity is awakened then they can be of assistance and be a helping hand as well. I also treat quite a few childre...n usually of school age although the youngest has been 4 years of age... These two might look a little familiar to a few of you. 07.01.2022 Monday Scoop! Living with headaches can be debilitating for your general well being. And that pain you experience just in the middle of your upper back that travels up into your neck creating a snowball affect, yep can be intense. There are many triggers for these symptoms experienced; headaches and restricted head movement to name just a few. They can be exacerbated by poor posture, including the use of computers screens and technology devices which compromise your posture... creating weakness in those muscles. A Chill from leaving warm environments into the cold, fatigue, stress, sports injuries just to name a few more..... and sure the list continues! There is help!!! You don’t need to suffer any longer! If you feel that you are someone that could benefit or just don’t know if Myotherapy is the right avenue to travel down, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’m more that happy to guide you and assist you. 06.01.2022 It's my 11 Anniversary at Table For One 11 Years on the 9th September I took the leap of faith... I started the journey to go out on my own and it's been AMAZING!!! Table for One has EVOLVED so much! I have EVOLVED. To think it all started with hands on therapy as a remedial massage therapist 1994 . Then I embraced and went back to 3 Year full time study at RMIT and became a Myotherapist by 2000. Over the next 6 years I worked at Alphington Sports Medicine, Moonee Ponds Mind... Body Health Centre, Freelance Corporate Health, Gym Personal Trainer and Myotherapist 2 years in AFL with Western Bulldogs. 2006 it was time to head out on my own for my own personal growth and development of Table For One; Integrated Body Therapy. And boy did that happen and continues to flourish. Let's say my thirst for an Wholistic approach was quenched with continues education and certainly that doesn't end. Continued Myotherapy growth. Tertiary studies in Personalised Strategies and Enhancement in Wellness Coaching inc Positive Psychology, Clinical Hypnotherapy. Health Coaching with a huge interest in food intolerances and addictions; for Wellness and weight management. My own personal journey of 30kg weight loss after a 35 year struggle of yo yo dieting and massive food intolerances has been set free and is now my new motivation in helping others break there cycle. It's certainly is possible!!! An Wholistic approach Brings all modalities together to assist my clients to reach that potential of Wellness, Happiness and a Purposeful life.
