16.01.2022 In my capacity as Secretary of Tableland Company of Archers I believe it is appropriate if I reply on behalf of the club executive to a post made today by Fernando Falvo, Father of cadet club member Vitto Falvo and to direct this post to Vitto himself. Please refer to the text of that post below: Thanks for the great Christmas news. My son Vitto was awarded first place in Australia for male cadet compound today only to be stripped away of his medal hours later because of tec...hnicality bullshit that wasn't his fault. He is crushed as he tried so hard. Thanks al ot guys and Achery Australia, have a wonderful Christmas Vitto, like many club members, has been competing in the Archery Australia Return to archery series from September this year. This event was shot over 6 rounds by over 50 clubs throughout Australia at each clubs home ground with the event scored electronically. The best two scores counted towards the final placings. Today I received an email from Archery Australia saying the scores could now be checked on Archers Dairy in preparation for medals being distributed in mid January. When I checked the results Vitto was listed as first place in his class. I was so pleased for him that I called Nikki [his Mother] immediately with the news and to pass on my congratulations. I also posted this on the club Facebook page [since taken down] as it would have been Vittos first Australian title - which is a big deal! Approximately an hour later I was contacted by a member of another club saying I should check the results because he did not think Vitto had shot the correct round [distance]. I quickly checked and that appeared to be the case. An error had been made when the events at our grounds were set up leading to Vitto shooting a 10 meter shorter round than required in his class. he shot a Canberra round rather than the required 60/900 Unfortunately his results will not count, he will effectively be disqualified. I immediately called the Family with this news rather than wait until the results were challenged by another shooter or club, as they would be, as that would only have been postponing the inevitable. Vitto and his family have every right to be bitterly disappointed at what can only be described as a grave error. Again all the club executive can do is offer the most sincere apology and ensure it never happens again. I would ask that the family please consider that like all amateur sporting clubs TCoA is run by volunteers who give up their time so members can participate in the sports they love and that this error has left the parties concerned what can only be described as gutted on Vittos behalf I ask that, if possible, you forgive those responsible and look forward to shooting with a revitalised TCoA in 2021 Sincerely Jeff Green Secretary TCoA
