18.01.2022 Physical activity makes people happy! In a recent study, researchers studied the brain regions and found that even everyday activities, such as climbing the stairs and walking, significantly enhance well-being and energy! 67 people took part in the assessment to determine the impact of everyday activities on alertness and physical energy. It was found that people felt more alert and bursting with energy directly after an activity. ... So if you're feeling low on energy, go for a walk or climb some stairs! Or better yet, PLAN your day to incorporate walking - every little bit counts! @exerciseright_aus #tablelandsphysio #exercise #lithgow #keepactive #healthy #positive #communities

09.01.2022 HAMSTRING injury influx Don’t let your hamstring niggle go on and be left untreated as this can lead to a worse injury or tear. One of the key indicators of return to sport readiness is how long it takes you to get back walking/jogging normally:... - if it takes you around a day for pain free walking/jogging, you can be back in less than 3 weeks with a rehab program - if it takes you more than 5 days to achieve pain free walking/jogging it’s at least a 4 week rehab program Physio, exercise, stretching, strengthening work, compression/ice and return to sport specific exercises will get you and back and KEEP you back on the field! Otherwise it will becomes a recurrent hamstring tear, which is not what we want! Rehab programs should never be a recipe, they should be treated individually, which is what you will receive at Tablelands. #tablelandsphysio #hamstring #returntosport #returntowork

09.01.2022 October is Mental Health Awareness Month Or what we like to call it, happiness month. Can you believe today marks 1 year since the Gospers Mountain fire started? The last 12 months has been a very stressful time for the Lithgow community. Hence, it is so important we look after our mental health, and check in with our friends and family as well.... A few tips that I have been trying to undertake this happiness month: Exercise most days; Monitor your number of steps (10 000 is a great goal but make it relative to your lifestyle); Eat healthier; Undertake a mindfulness session; Do more fun things- catch up friends, get out and about in nature, spend quality time with family, laugh! The team at Tablelands are always here for a chat, a cuppa, or to point you in the right direction for help. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

08.01.2022 October was Mental Health Awareness Month. Check out our latest blog post for some helpful tips from Sally about maximising health, wellness and happiness https://www.tablelandsphysio.com.au/blog

08.01.2022 Single Leg Calf Raises How many single leg calf raises can you do compared to the expected for your age? Limb symmetry index values can sometimes be skewed due to deconditioning in the contralateral leg. Normative values are always something great to keep in mind in addition to the limb symmetry index... In a study over 500 healthy active people were studied and the following were shown. Make sure you’re pushing up to the sky on the first 1-2 toes and not rolling onto the outside of your foot! Thanks @learn.Physio for the post! #tablelandsphysio #lithgownsw #testyourself

06.01.2022 October is Mental Health Awareness Month Or what we like to call it, happiness month. Can you believe today marks 1 year since the Gospers Mountain fire started? 05.01.2022 We often incorporate various equipment into our consultations with patients in order to get them moving and feeling back to normal as soon as possible. The balance board helps improve proprioception (perception/awareness of the position and movement of the body) after injuries or surgery involving the leg. It also helps strengthen stability muscles, as well as building concentration. #tablelandsphysio #lithgownsw #equipment #physio

04.01.2022 Harvest Season Injuries The grasses are growing with the warm weather and rain we have been having, and lots of people are out making hay. This means people are out on tractors, trucks and headers looking backwards, and often doing this one sided, causing neck pain. ... So what can you do? - Sit taller with good posture (no slouching) - Try and change up the direction you are looking back so it’s not the same side all the time - Do some gentle neck stretches (ear to shoulder) - Get out of the tractor more often (try every hour or so) to move your body around
