24.01.2022 On 2nd September, TPLC conducted a working bee at one of Koala Hospital's Koala Conservation areas on the Mid North Coast. https://www.portnews.com.au//new-food-tree-plantation-es/

23.01.2022 10 members of TPLC planted koala trees at Koala Hospital's Maria River plantation today. Our reward was a bush walk and bbq lunch of which nothing was wasted.

23.01.2022 The first time back at Bunnings since February and it was so good to "be back in the saddle"!! Lion Jill wishes to thank all those who helped make the day an easy one.

21.01.2022 Tacking Point Lions would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and all the very best for 2021.

20.01.2022 TPLC's last day on canteen duty at WRP for 2020. Coolish day so all the hot food went quickly along with lots of coffees and hot chocolates (yes with marshmallows), which kept Lion Sarah very busy. You had to watch your sausage rolls and hot dogs though with the magpies being such a pest, even if they knew the COVID rules!! VP3 Lion Jill was very grateful for the help she received from Lion members for their support in what has been a very different but successful season

19.01.2022 Lions Hearing Dogs is 201n1 DG Kevin Thornton's wife Lion Julie Thornton's project for 2020-2021.

18.01.2022 Late in 2019 one of the Gaol Point Lions Park lions was stolen. Sadly we weren't able to find a replacement to match the remaining lion and the new lions may not be as grand as the old lions but they are just beautiful.

18.01.2022 Huge thank you to Tacking Point Lions Club members who volunteered their time at Koala Hospital yesterday. Excellent results clearing out our front gardens! Thank you! #tackingpointlionsclub

17.01.2022 Setting up at Lake Innes Village today with Lion John O'S. President Rob & Lion Bob F hung around for a coffee before leaving John & I to it. Good day selling lots of tickets.

16.01.2022 Your Drought and Fire Donations at Work. As our response to the latest drought and last summers fires is winding down and we're getting ready for whatever this... summer may bring, it's time to take stock of what has been achieved, all managed by a group of dedicated volunteers. The map below, which was prepared as part of a report to our Lions District 201 V3 Convention, shows our response to requests for assistance in just the last 12 months. In total, our response to the drought since January 2018 has seen well over 1300 truckloads of fodder worth around 12 million dollars delivered to farmers totally free of charge into all of the eastern states including Tasmania and South Australia. That is on top of more than 700 truckloads with a value of at least $6.5 million for those affected by last summer’s horrific fires. These deliveries are usually accompanied by household hampers, personal care packs, Lions teddies and toys for the kids, and food for our best mates. Every farm has at least one dog! Now about to begin our 15th. Year, we at Need for Feed take great pride not only in being managed 100% by volunteers but also this year being adopted as a national Project of Lions Australia You will see from the map that we have been able to meet approximately 85% of our requests for assistance over the last 12 months. Our aim now being a National Project, is to partner with other Lions Club and Districts to build capacity in order to better meet the needs of all the communities we wish to serve. Our group of 6 Lions members on our committee are involved on pretty much a daily basis. With nearly 200 different truck drivers taking part in 18 Hay runs over the year, a core group of 15 have completed just about every run.

16.01.2022 2021 Australia Day BBQ in Westport Park. President Rob Bruce would like to thank those Lions and three partners for making it such an easy day. Thank you to Marine Rescue Port Macquarie for the opportunity. Due to COVID a very different year this year compared to previous years.

15.01.2022 TPLC back onto WRP Canteen duty for soccer on Saturdays. Strict regulations and distancing apply of course. Lion Janice McG on the coffee machine. Lion Sarah D (pink jumper) wanted it known she did all the cleaning up - thank you Sarah xx. So nice to be able to "get back into the saddle"

15.01.2022 TPLC's Christmas Raffle started today at Port Central. Only $2:00 a ticket.

14.01.2022 Lions Australia is pleased to have adopted Disaster Relief Australia as one of our key projects. Disaster Relief Australia (formerly known as Team Rubicon) brin...gs military veterans, emergency responders and motivated civilians together to volunteer their time to assist with emergency and disaster relief operations. This not only helps communities devastated by disasters, but it also helps Australian veterans find purpose through community service. Lions members are often the first to respond during times of crisis, as was seen in the 2019/2020 Black Summer bushfires. This partnership will be of significant benefit to both organisations - allowing veterans to get involved in more community projects, and assisting Lions clubs with more trained emergency responders in times of disaster. 14.01.2022 Tacking Point Lions with partners managed a small gathering today. Many thanks to President Rob, Lions Stuart (S) and Monica for organising not only a venue but everything as per COVID-19 regulations. Lion of the Year 2019-2020 was also announced. Congratulations and well done to - Lion Paula Forster

14.01.2022 A DG's visit with a twist. Due to COVID and its restrictions, TPLC decided to invite 201n1 DG Kevin Thornton to their monthly Board Meeting. His head must have been spinning after 2 hours of various discussions and reports (which included his own). We caught up with Lion Julie Thornton at a luncheon after the meeting as Lion Lady Anne Bruce took Julie on a walk along some our beautiful coastline. Photo is DG Kevin Thornton swapping bannerettes with TPLC Membership Chair Lion Duncan Wyndham who gave the vote of thanks.

09.01.2022 The transformation begins! The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is much-loved and well-used, and about to embark on a major redevelopment to ensure it continues to... operate as a 'best practice facility' in treatment of koalas, to expand its research and education facilities and improve the visitor experience. An exciting new nature-based, world-class tourism destination is in the pre-construction phase. Architects' designs will be assessed over the next few months. Program Manager, Matt Whatman, says 'Focus for the redevelopment is on retaining the natural environment, on ecological sustainability, and alignment to the core vision of the Koala Hospital'. The new Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is proudly funded by the NSW Government's Restart NSW program in association with Koala Conservation Australia Inc. 09.01.2022 TPLC's first social for 2021 was a Breakfast BBQ held at Settlement Point Reserve on a beautiful Sunday morning on 17th January. Following on from a successful Christmas Raffle in 2020, President Rob Bruce presented two cheques from the proceeds of the raffle during the morning to Michelle from Camp Quality ($2,800) and to Lion Julie Thornton on behalf of ALHD ($1,680). Many thanks to Monica for making the day happen with what appears to be with so little effort!

06.01.2022 TPLC Social Breakfast bbq on a somewhat damp day. The rain though didn't dampen the spirits of the 20 members and partners who attended. What more could one ask for than a hot (be it a bit soggy) brekky when COVID makes it impossible for gatherings for 43 members and their partners? Oh and the whales turned up too. Another brekky bbq for those who missed out is on Sunday 27th Sept. Please see Lion Monica

05.01.2022 Our clever Year 4 students are developing strategies and creating a plan to protect and conserve the koala species in the case of a bushfire.
