16.01.2022 Our first nippers ocean proficiency swim will be held this Sunday 27th September at 9am at Lighthouse Beach (conditions permitting). This is for nippers in the under 9 to under 14 age groups only. This is for the kids to pass their Competition Skills Evaluation, which means they're deemed competent to participate in water activities at nippers on a Sunday, as well as compete at any carnivals throughout the season. To do the swim this Sunday, nippers must:... 1. Be registered for the 2020/21 season; 2. Have completed their pool proficiency last Sunday; and 3. Wear their nipper cap and pink rashie. (They may also want to wear a wetsuit!) WATER SAFETY CREW NEEDED We'll need to have adequate water safety numbers for the kids, so please help out if you can.

15.01.2022 This is detection #25 for the morning. Be SharkSmart and avoid water activities at Lighthouse Beach. Currently no lifeguard or lifesaving patrols at this beach.... UPDATE 17:15PM - Beach closed signs have been erected due to continued detections of a white shark; 50+ so far today. This does not necessarily mean there has been 50 separate sharks, but whether or not it’s 50 separate sharks that have passed by, or one shark remaining in the area, there is still current known shark activity. Please be ‘SharkSmart’. NOTE: The beacon only detects the sharks that are tagged.

14.01.2022 Nippers... Due to covid requirements, the Uniform Shop will be run differently this year. 13.01.2022 Dear members, Saturday September 26 saw the annual raising of the flags to mark the beginning of the SLS season across the state. This year the ceremony took place at Camden Haven SLSC. The event attracted everyone from local dignitaries, to SLS volunteers and members of the public.... Some of those in attendance included: Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie, Mayor Peta Pinson Uncle Bill OAM, Tony Worton NSW Surf Lifesaver of the year Rod McDonagh Branch President Gary Hawkins Branch Director of Members Sevices Bob Higham Newcastle Permanent Sponsor representative However, importantly of all was our very own Bronte McAllister. Who not only attended in capacity as Female Branch Junior Lifesaver of the year representative, was also honoured with the roll of reading a speech for the occasion. Very impressive indeed.
