25.01.2022 Our classroom set up in Jnr school All our students with VI have their own working space. This allows us to utilise all our low vision/ Braille aids while also having 1:1 time to discuss letters, Braille cells and implement our Emerging Braille Program As you can see we have the slope board and light box on the right for print work, while the Mountbatten is on the left ready for brailling. Behind the slope board there are magnifiers and pencil case goodies Behind the Mountbatten are all our tactile materials that are commonly used throughout the day. Both our classroom teachers and our students love it so it’s a win win!

17.01.2022 First day back at school Our preppies are using a slope board, magnifier & light box as visual aid tools in the classroom. They have chosen to decorate their paper Prep Crown using Sharpies (bright, bold and colourful), and various crafts to add texture to their designs. Well done preppies #visualimpairments #firstdayback #lightbox #sharpies #slopeboard #magnifier #prep #tvi #blind

17.01.2022 Class activity adaptations ~ creating tactile resources for students who have a visual impairment at its best. How adorable is this letter ‘S’ spider activity!!!! I’ve posted the original class activity and how we adapted it to assist Miss Prep in completing this with her peers Best TA’s ever #classresources #tactileactivities #schoolresources #inclusiveeducation #teachersofinstagram #tvi #legallyblind

10.01.2022 This is Our Jnr Secondary (grades 7-9) classroom set up for our students who are VI, PI & HI. We have been lucky enough to have our EQ regional physiotherapist & our AVT for PI & HI visit our classrooms every day this week so we can measure the rooms, wheelchairs and students for specialised equipment. This also includes our PI toilet facilities which I can’t wait to share with you once complete. I think it’s all coming along very nicely! The first 3 images show the speci...alised desks, chairs & device stands for class work. The 4th image shows the shelving we have put in place so we can set up subject trays for students to access independently. These will look fabulous once it’s full of large print labels and accessories!! While the 5th image shows our wheelchair parking station so students can come and go as they please for lunch breaks We are so appreciative of the support provided by our subject teachers and school facilities team at our school who go above and beyond to ensure we can make this happen

08.01.2022 This week in Prep we focused on the letter ‘S’. To assist our dual user, Miss Prep, in learning print and Braille we have made alphabet books. Each letter book shows the print letter in A4 size made using a PIAF machine that she can trace with her finger, tactile illustrations of items starting with the particular letter, and a tracking card allowing her to differentiate and find the letter in each track. We also have discussions about the Braille cell and which Braille dots are used with each letter. These alphabet letter books are introduced with each new print letter. Then, she can continue on with other tactile activities with her classmates
