10.01.2022 Worth another look. Sam Newman, an Australian sports commentator, learns the hard way that you should be more careful what you say when you’re on live televisio...n. After he made the comment that Taekwondo was the most ridiculous thing he’s ever seen during the Olympics, two Taekwondo Olympians, Safwan Khalil and Carmen Marton, challenged him to a fight. But is this how people outside of WTF Taekwondo see us? See more

09.01.2022 Taekwondo Central's 4th Dan Black Belt Head Instructor Ajana Plunkett and 6th Dan Black Belt Master Justin Warren were recently recognised for their contribution to the Taekwondo Ohdokwan chain of schools celebrating their 40 anniversary this year. Both were awarded certificates of appreciation from the martial arts school with Master Justin receiving a plaque for ongoing support and loyalty to the art while being a senior student and Master of the school Taekwondo Ohdokwan ...is one of the largest Taekwondo groups in Australia and is something Taekwondo Central are very proud to be a part of. Ajana is Taekwondo Centrals longest training student who eventually took up instructing after representing the state and the country and Master Justin founded the school in 1999.

09.01.2022 What a great day and a great opportunity for us. Thankyou to Mel Buhlmann and the ECU group for organising a self defence workshop. 26 ECU students attended the event promoting and teaching self defence skills and strategies applicable for todays environment. We were really happy and impressed with the level of skill and commitment of the students and a great day was had by all on a beautiful sunny day Full feedback is still coming through but here is a couple we have receive...d so far --------------------------------------- Thank you so much for organising the self-defence class today. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it to be a very valuable resource and skill to have, not only for nursing but also for my personal safety. I would love to see this day run again in future years as everyone should know how to defend themselves if they find themselves in a confrontational or unsafe situation. Especially being a woman and the unfortunate incidences where I could have used these skills to better protect myself. ---------------------------------------- Thank you for organising the self-defence class today. Justin was a great teacher and I left feeling a bit more confident in my abilities to help myself in a confrontational situation. I will be practicing the combinations on the punching bags at the gym, get that muscle memory happening! It was great to get out there in the sun and do some physical activity too. Loved it, would absolutely attend future classes if/when they are made available to students. ---------------------------------------- If any other groups are interested in doing a workshop or course, please contact us. We are always keen to improve peoples personal safety and introduce others to the wonderful world of self defence

06.01.2022 WERE 21 TODAY This day 21 years ago the first ever Taekwondo Central class started at the Bunbury Art Gallery. With just 6 people turning up, is was the beginning of a journey that has given my life a purpose "A Life Purpose Will Offset Your Suffering"... I remember it wasn't long after I come back from an overseas competition representing Australia and I was searching for a way to support myself outside of the current job I had as a Barista at Henry's Café so I thought I would run some classes. It truly was a decision that changed my life forever. A definite mixture of "Dizzying Highs and Swooping Lows" Moments of pure genius combined with huge regrets as a result from stupid decisions. I have truly suffered for my art, I have fought hard to keep my club surviving and made tough choices to ensure its survival. When I look back it brings a smile to my face all that this club has done for others not just myself. Students making the Australian Team and winning gold medals overseas, giving others a personal purpose, helping people overcome challenges and employing some to help make a living. Who would have thought? We have empowered so many and brought out results that many couldn't believe they were capable of. Today for me is a huge thankyou to everybody who has contributed to my dream, who have put their time, energy and trust in what we do. Taekwondo truly is a wonderful martial art, I love that people in their 70's can still practise. A belt & grading system that you can pursue or pick up any time of your life. Its a form of activity you can do your whole life safely and give you a greater purpose than just going to work and making money, Thank you to everybody who has touched my life and inspired me, be it temporarily or long term, thank you to everybody who has entered competition proudly representing our club and thank you to all that have continued to lift me on days I could hardly lift. You could never understand how grateful I truly am. Master Justin Warren 6th Dan Black Belt Founder / Director Taekwondo Central
