24.01.2022 Congratulations to our graduating students from the Basic Computing Course. This course is designed for people who have limited exposure with computers, tablets and smart phones and who have basic knowledge to operate most commonly used applications for use in everyday life. Our students in this semester's cohort ranged in age from 47 to 93, with their needs ranging from wanting to learn how to use a smart phone to wanting to brush up on basic computing skills needed to run ...your own business. Teacher Lynne Crawford said 'We had a broad range of ages and needs in this group, what I found so impressive was how equally quickly they all responded to the lessons. We saw a great deal of growth in confidence & skills in just 10 weeks'. Student Stephen Larnach said 'I did this course mainly for work, I've a brand new laptop at home and I'd only switched it on 3 or 4 times, I don't like using them but I know I'm going to need to for work into the future. I have used them before for my business but I needed a refresher and to increase my confidence'. Student Mark Biltoft (aged 86) said 'It was fantastic, the teachers are patient and helpful, I've recommended to all my friends and several are signing up for next year'. 22.01.2022 Two of our wonderful Adult Migrant English students, Kanyarat Kaenpromma (Keewee) and Thi Bich Couch (Hien) have been studying hard all year with TAFENSW at both our Brunswick Heads outreach site and also On Line when their course moved to a mixed mode / online delivery due to COVID-19. Both are on track to complete their Certificate III in Spoken & Written English by the end of the year. Keewee is planning on further studies in Fashion Design and Hien in Bookkeeping. Kee...wee really liked the opportunity to improve her English skills, have conversations with people & practicing with fellow students. Keewee also increased her On Line skills and the AMEP program has increased her confidence and helped her to feel part of the community. Hien again really enjoyed her studies, learning to converse with people and improving her On Line skills. Her confidence levels have increased and she too feels a valued member of the community. Their teacher, Elizabeth Harman, stated that 'It has been an absolute pleasure teaching both students who remained highly motivated and fully committed to achieving their goals, despite the numerous hurdles they had to cope with'.
