12.06.2022 This morning we partnered with National Association of Women in Construction - NAWIC WA Chapter to host a speed careering event at our Acacia Ridge campus. It was the perfect opportunity for female high school students to find out more about trade careers. They also had the opportunity to meet women who are in training, working and running their own businesses in the construction, mining and automotive. 21.01.2022 Last year’s TAFE Queensland - SkillsTech Light Automotive Apprentice of the Year recipient Rahul Menon joined 2020 winner, Chelsea Bowers for a once-in-a-lifetime experience working alongside Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) on the Shell V-Power Racing Team cars. In recognition of their efforts, Chelsea and Rahul spent the day at the DJR workshop getting a behind the scenes look at what’s involved in preparing a race car. Men's health and wellness statistics are often alarming, and even given the challenges of 2020, it is more important to support each other than ever before. Combining their Trade Mutt shirts, starting conversations around mental health, with fundraising for Movember, we wanted to give a shout out to and thank these trades teachers at our Alexandra Hills campus for their commitment to supporting men and encouraging healthier lives and futures. After a three-day lockdown the Queensland Government has announced a gradual easing of restrictions, and on-campus activity will resume tomorrow, Tuesday 12 January 2021, at TAFE Queensland Acacia Ridge. 08.01.2022 Melanie Millar has always had a keen interest in engineering and originally started out at high school undertaking a school-based apprenticeship, before transferring to an admin traineeship instead to complete her schooling. However, it wasnt until she completed her traineeship that she decided that she was more suited to a trade and is now about to move into the fourth year of her boiler making apprenticeship. We think it's great to see that more women are pursuing qualifications in traditionally male-dominated industries.
