25.01.2022 Got a feeling that someone you know or care about it isn’t behaving as they normally would? Perhaps they seem out of sorts? More agitated or withdrawn? Or they’re just not themselves. Trust that gut instinct and act on it this R U OK Day. Remember though, there's more to say after "R U OK?" and we should be asking our friends and family this question year round. Check out www.ruok.org.au/ for more information and helpful resources.

Our congratulations go out to Deb Blow (a current Director of Faculty for Community Services, Health and Nursing and the Executive Leader Health and Nursing at TAFE Queensland), and our very own CEO Mary Campbell. Among the most prestigious awards of the night, their wins reflect their immense dedication and commitment to vocational education and training and we could not be p...rouder. We'd also like to take a moment to recognise our two student finalists, Ngaire Trigg (Vocational Student of the Year) and Jabin Giblett (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year), as well as our partner Rheinmetall Defence Australia (Industry Collaboration Award finalist). 25.01.2022 What helps you picture 1.5m? Today we've been in our fashion studios and are using four sewing machines as our guide. But remember, like Queensland Health says it doesn’t matter what you visualise, what matters is that you keep a safe 1.5m distance from others, wash your hands often, stay home when sick, and keep up the great work in helping everyone stay safe.... 23.01.2022 Melanie Millar has always had a keen interest in engineering and originally started out at high school undertaking a school-based apprenticeship, before transferring to an admin traineeship instead to complete her schooling. However, it wasn’t until she completed her traineeship that she decided that she was more suited to a trade and is now about to move into the fourth year of her boiler making apprenticeship. We think it's great to see that more women are pursuing qualifications in traditionally male-dominated industries. You can read her story on the Courier Mail website, subscription required, at: https://bit.ly/33KlCaH Photo by The Courier-Mail: Osmac apprentice boilermaker Melanie Millar at Rockpress.
