24.01.2022 So Here we go, work has been started on this old girl. Stripping down getting it ready for blast and paint. The shell looks to be pretty good condition overall, a little crusty bits here and there but the blasting will reveal everything. Parts are in for it. It will be running a 2.3 duratec with a 5 speed Mazda gearbox and the rear end will be a quaife LSD. The current front suspension will be changed to rack an pinion setup. This will be a very nice car when finished.

24.01.2022 Here we have a Holden commodore that we are doing all oil leaks on. The sump gasket, rear main seal, gearbox seal and to throw in the mix fitting up a recon tail shaft. This is coming along nicely.

24.01.2022 Up early on a Sunday morning washing and giving a quick clean on the inside, ready for presenting this WRX to regency Park tomorrow morning. The car was brought into us a few weeks ago. It got defected to regency Park by the police for seat belts. But as people may not know if a car is defected to regency Park, then it goes through a full roadworthy inspection, they don't just look at what the car got defected for, they check the whole car. We offer the same inspections for... people if they so wish to have it done on their vehicles to make sure the vehicle is in a road safe condition. We inspected this car and it needed quite a bit of work done before we could even think of taking it to regency Park. 24.01.2022 We had this Beautiful mk1 Cortina in for rear brake issues. On inspection we found a new wheel cylinder that had been fitted was faulty and leaking brake fluid on the right hand side rear wheel. We changed the faulty cylinder and the brakes are working as they should be. Plus the customer couldn't adjust the hand brake up properly as the rear brake shoes was missing a key component. A small spacer plate that fits in the shoe and is held in with a small retainer clip was totally missing on both sides. So how much you try adjust the hand brake cable it will not adjust up properly without them in the shoe. I found 2 second hand ones I had in my box of old stuff, fitted them Adjusted up the rear brakes on the wheels, then the hand brake cable and now the hand brake works a treat. Now the car can be driven safely again.

22.01.2022 I am nearly at the end of all the fabrication, welding and preparation. fitted the radiator and fits beautifully. Next is to fire wall and fit in my roll cage. ...Then fit the panhard rod and the prep is complete. The car can then go in for paint. Im really looking forward to the first push of the button and take this beauty for its first drive in years. See more

22.01.2022 Here we go. The Cortina is back from the blast and paint. A Few bad bits exposed and need attention, but overall it not really that bad. Got to order some new panels up for it and away we go with the build. Fun times ahead.

21.01.2022 My welsh theam mk1 escort is alive. This car hasn't had a running engine in her for nearly 20 years. Now has a 2.3 duratec engine. Carbs literally only set on the bench, needs obviously fine tuning and the exhaust needs a little adjustment as its just kissing the chassis leg.But anyway it alive. now on with the rest of the build.

21.01.2022 Knocking up a very sturdy battery box out of the off cuts of material i had laying around. The base frame is made out of stainless steel and the box itself iv made out of 3mm aluminium. I have purposely made it slightly bigger than the battery itself, as iv aloud for a bigger battery if needed and iv made it with a fold away side to fit and remove the battery with ease but with this optima battery iv got, that will do the job for quite a while so I won't need to move it for quite a while. There's no movement happening when the cross clamp is bolted down on the battery and tensioned up. Obviously not totally finished yet as iv got to dimple it and get it polished up before the final build of the car, but its all in and test fitted, ye that will do the job. Now on to fabricating the fuel pump box.

20.01.2022 Some pics of our day yesterday, a little service on a kia sportage and gearbox and clutchout on a focus Xr5 turbo as its having some upgrades on the gearbox and some new suspension upgrades along the way.and our newest and valued member to the team, Brandon Osborne, is our new apprentice in the back round taking apart the focus, obviously under my guidance. plus working late again on my mk1 escort, as iv picked up material to fabricate and fit my boot blank offs to separate the boot off from the rest of the car, as it has the fuel tank and a battery box being fitted in there. There fitted in and sealed. The sealant isn't a work of art but I'm not worried about how it looks as the boot area will be sprayed with a sound deadener before the final coat of paint.

19.01.2022 Got more work done this evening on my beauty. Fire wall is in and all sealed up with high temp, high adhesive reinforced foil tape, im not worried how the tape looks on there, what's important is that's its completely sealed all edges and is sealed off from the boot. The trimmer will do the cosmetics when it goes in for that to be done. A few small things to dress up and its ready for paint. Im getting we excited now lol

19.01.2022 The Black mk2 Ford escort is now completed to what we have been asked to do. A band new stainless system designed by us is now made and fitted and the car sound...s fantastic. The RS dash is now wired in and everything works on it as it should after a little repair I had to do on the circuit board. The car had a standard dash originally but now converted to the RS with oil pressure gauge all plumbed in. See more

18.01.2022 Bias pedalbox and plumbing all installed, now to bleed it all up. The new prop shaft being made for the Mazda gearbox, should be in next week and the car can then run under its own steam, so to speak.

17.01.2022 Battery is now relocated to the boot on the Torana and everything all powers up like it should. Now to wire up the new washer bottle. The old Toyota crowns diff has had all new gaskets and seals, so now the rear brakes can be overhauled.

16.01.2022 Crazy busy is an under statement at the moment, not enough time in day. Mk1 Cortina gone to blast and paint, The Morris ute has finally been stripped and now the chassis can be sent in also for bast and paint. The Torana has had a new aluminium drop tank fitted, wiring in the car has been done and now relocating the battery in the boot. The old Toyota crown is having rear brakes and diff overhaul. Always a variety of old and new work going on at our shop and loving every minute of it.

16.01.2022 New hoist installed today by bailey fabrications and the mk1 capri is on there ready for the strip down and prep. Now my workshop is nearly complete the way I want it.

14.01.2022 More updated pics in the sideshow. The sideshow iv made a little while ago, to where I was with my mk1 escort but as time and parts come in, we do the moc fitti...ng and update the pictures as we go and build. I have had the car for a while since buying it. But if I'm ever going to finish it, iv got to put in late nights and work weekends to get it done and that exactly what's going on. This old girl was in need of a lot of love to bring her back to life. Alot of new panels and welding plus fabrication to make the shell up for the task its being built for. It will be running a 2.3 duratec, dry sumped with a 5 speed Mazda gearbox, and a lot of new nice toys in the build. I fabricate some things myself but most is bought in new and only the best products available will be going into this build. 12.01.2022 We have started some small fabrication and welding repairs on the mk1 Cortina while we wait for panels that has to be changed out, to come in from our suppliers. We removed the old heater bubble and revealed the rot behind it. We cut out the rotten section and fabricated a small new section to weld back in. My new apprentice spot welded it in position and I fully welded it all up. Then it was dressed back, still a couple of touch ups to do in this area and dress back before a new heater bubble get welded back on

12.01.2022 Well its been a while since receiving my Ford Sierra XR4x4 from WA. Been getting it ready for regency Park. I myself done a full MOT on the car and a few things had to be done to bring the car ready for road use. Now all repairs are done and all paperwork i got in order because its an imported vehicle, I presented the car to regency Park this morning for a full road worthy check and its now legally on the road in SA and is on club rego. I believe this car is the only Sierra... xr4x4 in SA so iv been told but not hundred percent sure. But anyway I'm looking forward to taking this lovely old girl out from time to time and my mk1 Escorts I have. 11.01.2022 Had 2 signs made up for the workshop from a drawing my daughter done a while back. One for the front, so people can see where we are as they come through the ga...te, as its directed where we are on the sign and one plain one to go just above the office door. plus there's some progress pics on the orange escort we done, again a while back. The standard brake system has been deleted and we have now put in a bias system as directed by the customer. You got to get yourself in some awkward positions sometimes to do these jobs lol, at my age now it certainly isn't getting easier, I can tell you. See more

11.01.2022 Now all the new parts came in for the VC valiant slant 6 and some old parts like the master cylinder and front brake callipers we had fully reconditioned because we have done a conversion from drum brakes on the front to disc brakes. We have also added in a brand new remote brake booster. Brakes are superb now. We are now in the process of changing out the trans fluid due to the car had a broken radiator which was mixing the oil with coolant. Someone had fitted a new radiator but never flushed the system. Now all flushed through with the trans having new filter and gasket kit and the oil is cheery red again.

11.01.2022 Trying a moc fit of my exhaust manifold in my little beauty and it fits beautifully in and on the engine. Iv also fabricated a template, to make the blank off plates that cuts off the boot compartment to the back of the car. These get fitted on the inside of the inner rear arch on both sides of the car. So with these fitted and the fire wall thats just been fitted, the boot area is completely sealed off to the rest of the car. pics will follow when iv fitted them. 10.01.2022 Prep is nearly there with this beauty. Only fire walling left and its ready to go in to the painter to do his magic. Panhard rod in position, rear end of roll cage fabricated. Strengthening floor plates all welded in and the roll cage is now fully bolted down. Checked the fitting of the new quality mk1 Escort bias pedalbox that i got in recently and it fits in perfectly. These are the period type. The one on the left is for my car that im building and for hydraulic clutch system and the one on the right is for a cable clutch type but can easily be changed out to take hydraulic. 09.01.2022 Mk1 cortina, all welding repair work now completed on the gearbox tunnel. All body sealed, now to primer and then stone chip.

09.01.2022 More work done today on the Torana. Had rewire the ignition to the coil and secure the coil as all loose in the engine bay. Also changed the front springs as the front end of the car was way to low as you can see in one pic, but now sitting how it should be.

08.01.2022 Very excited now. My car is closer again. The painter i have, came in today to do all the seam sealing on the car before painting it. The car will be picked up tomorrow morning to go to his paint shop. At the moment it will be only painted, underneath and inside the car, The underside will be stone chiped and in the boot where it needs to be. It will then get painted in the boot and engine bay area. I can then build the car to a running stage, by putting in some very late nights over Christmas and then it will go back in for the rest of the car to be finished off on paint. So excited is to say the least.

08.01.2022 More pics sent to me of the progress on my mk1 Ford escort. All prep and seal has been done front to back, top and bottom. All rust protection etch primer, then... a bonding adhesive before a stone chip coating goes on. Stone chip coating applied and then the first coating of my white bright diamond white paint has gone on. You can see in a couple of pics attached, how bright it is with the LED light showing through the boot of the car. Im absolutely loving it I can't wait to get it back to crack on and build. I have sourced and im taking orders for Mazda 5 speed gearboxes that will fit into your escorts and cortinas and they fit straight up onto duratecs engines and will also fit to a zetec engine with an adapter plate, which we can supply also. They will handle around 400hp standard, so they cover what your duratec or zetec engines will put out. These boxes are second hand, but they are checked and tested by our suppliers. 04.01.2022 Work is well underway on this beautiful mk1 capri. Old 2lt engine and box is out, old brake booster has gone plus old rotten battery tray has been taken out and all rot in that area has been cut out and new material welded back in. We moc fitted the 2lt duratec engine today after making the extension blocks at the right angle for the engine mountings, as the capri is a little bit wider than the escort. A little more fine tuning is required, its nearly pretty much where its go...ing to be. The Mazda 5 speed fits in the tunnel beautifully. Im making all templates as I go along, so if anyone else wants this type of conversation in a capri in the future, I'll have everything here to do the job. 03.01.2022 Work has begun on this beautiful mk1 capri. Engine and gearbox removed, Battery tray also and a few other small parts. Engine bay and cross member has been degreased. Now we can work in this area nicely and cleanly lol. Now to order all parts needed for this build. A duratec with a mazda gearbox has never been fitted in Oz, in a capri before that i know of, so this will be the first to my knowledge. Exciting times ahead.

03.01.2022 Now most of the work is done, to what we have been asked to do on the mk2 escort. Just waiting on the prop shift to fit up and all plumbing fittings to come in ...to make the brake and clutch lines to the bias pedalbox. 03.01.2022 My mk1 escort has come along way since iv owned it. Iv put this long slide show together so people can get an idea of what goes in to doing a build. I can tell ...you, its long and can be expensive, depending on what you want in the car and what you want the car to do. When I acquired it, it was under a car port just rusting away open to all elements, but I seen the potential this car could be with a bit of love and patience. Now all the welding and fabrication has been done and the car is all preped with all the nice toys its having. It will be running a 2.3 duratec with a mazda rx7 5 speed gearbox and a quaife LSD. I have gone as far as I can at the moment, so now it needs to go in for some paint. My plan is to get the underside and inside, plus the engine bay painted, the car will then come back so I can build it to a running stage, then it will go back for the rest of the paint to be completed on the outside Hope I can get this done soon as im really looking forward to have some fun in this old girl. 02.01.2022 Work is well underway on this old girl. Tidying up the very much needed welding on the gearbox tunnel. We are cleaning back the old horrible welds and re-newing what's needed and rewelding. Then on to making the engine mountings for the SR20 engine to fit the world cup cross member. A big task to do with this engine set-up.

02.01.2022 So preparation has begun on my car for paint. The painter sent through some pics earlier. All body sealed and now smoothing out the tunnel etc. Im really looking forward to seeing it in colour.
