21.01.2022 A fresh approach to documentary making.

21.01.2022 A nice read for Science Week

20.01.2022 Meanwhile out west

20.01.2022 Following on from yesterday’s post.

19.01.2022 Previous tracking records have shown sightings of white sharks in this area aren't as rare as the diver suggests, especially over the winter/spring period.Anyone thinking of diving around Lady Elliott Island should keep that in mind. One particular animal travelled from South Australia and back over a twelve month period, returning to the same location almost one year to the day it left.

16.01.2022 NSW this morning.Outstanding work by those who assisted.

16.01.2022 I’m often asked what makes up a white sharks diet.Yes,seals are in the mix as are other mammals, such as whales and dolphins, but the Southern Bluefin Tuna is right up there as an all time favorite.Sharks like many other pelagic species move in response to their food source. This graphic highlights it perfectly, many of the areas visited by SBTuna are also known stop offs for white sharks in Bass Strait and Tasmanian waters.Nice work Tuna Champions.

14.01.2022 Again, surfers, divers and other water users are advised to avoid the Sandon Point, Bulli area.Large sharks have been drawn in by the scent of a deceased whale. These sharks will be highly agitated and aggressive

12.01.2022 Ocean users in this area, particularly divers, please take note. This is a significant seal colony known for white shark activity, please remain vigilant if entering the water nearby.

11.01.2022 For anyone not up to speed on this tragic event. Condolences go out to family, friends and persons involved in trying to assist the young fellow at the time.

03.01.2022 As whales begin their migration back to southern waters, there has been a number of casualties in the mix which are providing feeding opportunities for sharks.Ocean users are warned to avoid waters around Sth Ballina and Bulli. Please take note.

02.01.2022 Good to hear the young chap received minor injuries here,no doubt the mental imprint will be with him for some time and hopefully hes getting medical support to process it.According to local ab divers,an adult white shark had been seen ten km offshore earlier in the day.The nearby seal colony is a regular point of attraction for large sharks, their presence is not uncommon to the area.Ocean users are advised to take note

01.01.2022 This brought back memories of a surfing trip with mates nearly thirty years ago. We were greeted by other travellers with ‘yeah it’s got surf alright...good luck.’There was something about those last two words that didn’t sit quite right. That is,until we had our first surf at Indian Head and were greeted with the same sight as this clip.Needless to say, surfboards were packed away for the rest of the trip.Great fishing but my advice if you’re considering a surfing here..Think twice, you’ll have company. Thanks Chris Hoy for the clip.
